Chapter 30
Dipper P.O.V
"What do you mean?" I ask, a rather confused tone in my voice.
Bill's face quickly turns pale with worry. It's obvious that he didn't mean to blurt that part out.
"What's going on?" I ask yearning to know the truth of this entire situation.
Bill bites his lip for a few moments and sighs. He rubs his face before turning away from me.
"I would rather not say, but you deserve to know," he says after a moment.
I take a few steps to be closer to him and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. I'm not sure what he's talking about, but I want him to know that it's okay.
"I went to another dimension for a few hours and when I came back," he pauses, "you were dead."
When Bill says this I get chills coursing down my spine. Hearing that he found me dead when I'm alive, is more than disturbing.
"Bill, I'm not dead, I'm right here," I say after a few moments.
"That's because after I was finally able to clear my head, I traveled back in time to before you died. I'm doing everything in my power to keep you safe and I'll be damned if I lose you again."
Hearing that I've died and Bill went back in time to save me is a lot to take in. I'm not even sure I believe him. It sounds strange, even for him. I just can't bring myself to believe him.
"Bill, are you sure that happened? Maybe you just had a bad dream or something?"
Bill's worry becomes anger as I accuse him of fabricating a story. It's obvious that he truly believes that I died.
"I don't sleep, Mason. I am an eternal being who doesn't require the necessities of a human. I did not dream your death. I thought you would actually have a reaction to learning that you died, but instead you think I'm crazy!" he snaps.
I feel a small twinge of pain in my chest from his anger. I don't like when Bill gets angry at me.
"I'm sorry," I say softly after a moment, "it just doesn't seem very believable. I don't think it really happened. If you're going to be angry at me then I'm going out for a walk so we can both clear our heads."
I make my way toward the door and open it. Bill grabs my wrist and closes the door with his other hand.
"Bill, please," I say softly, attempting to open the door again.
"I can't lose you again. Please, Mason, just stay in tonight," he begs.
I sigh and run my fingers through my hair. Bill is truly convinced that I died and that he went back in time to save me. I hope this all passes once tomorrow comes. Surely Bill will move on from this.
"If it'll calm your nerves, I guess I'll stay in," I say softly, kissing his lips gently for a moment.
"Thank you, Pine Tree."
