Chapter 18
Bill Cipher P.O.V
I walk through the forest while on my way to see Pine Tree. Something about today feels different. I know that something has changed and I am determined to figure out what it is.
As I continue to walk I begin to feel the presence of someone else. I instantly know who it is. Pine Tree is here and he isn't far.
Once I reach a clearing I see my Pine Tree laying in a ball on the ground. I sit down next to him and pull him onto my lap. He lets out a soft groan before slowly opening his eyes.
"Mm," he hums softly, "hey."
"You really shouldn't sleep in the forest alone, Pine Tree," I warn him, seeing as there are many different types of creatures that could easily kill a fragile human like him.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to," he replies through a yawn.
"It's alright, I'm here now," I say, kissing his forehead, "but why are you out here?"
He sits up and rubs his eyes. He seems rather exhausted and it makes me curious about what he's gone through today.
"Well, um, Mabel surprised me and came by and I decided to tell her about us and she didn't take it very well," he explains, looking back in the direction of the Mystery Shack.
I take a few moments to process the scenario. Shooting Star is now aware that Pine Tree and I are infatuated with each other. With my past involving the Pines family, I can only imagine that she is enraged.
"She's going to inform your uncles of our relationship," I tell him, figuring he already knows.
He hugs my neck and rests his chin on my shoulder. He seems determined not to let me go. I hug his waist and hold him to let him know that I'm not going anywhere.
"I don't care if they know, I love you and if they don't like that then they're just going to have to deal with it," he says softly yet with a stern tone.
I feel a smile creep its way onto my face. It's not an expression I make very often but at the moment it feels right. Hearing Pine Tree say something so sweet makes me happy.
"I love you too, Pine Tree."
I can feel him smile when I return his emotion. It makes him very happy to know that I love him. It makes me feel happy to know that he will not allow his family to control who he has emotions for. I was worried that it might become an issue sooner or later.
I stand while still holding Pine Tree. He instinctively wraps his legs around my waist as we walk.
"Where are we going?" he asks softly.
"We are going to have a polite and civilized conversation with your family about our relationship," I explain, continuing to walk through the forest.
"Okay," he says with a soft nod.
"Don't worry, Pine Tree, I won't let anything happen to you," I tell him.
"It's not me that I'm worried about."
