OH NO (Part two)

(Roman's POV)

It was my first day of work.  I didn't appreciate the Saturday part of it, but hey, a job at the  theatre?  I wasn't complaining.  I'd always wanted to work for the theatre, I loved to act.  I pulled up to the building and hopped out of the car, I practically ran up the stairs to the auditorium, and was quickly met with a girl in a headset.  She was shorter than me with dark hair and glasses.  I opened my mouth to introduce myself, but she cut me off.

"Thank God the assistant's  here,"  Assitant?  As in director's assistant?  I thought it'd be an acting job.  I frowned as she continued to talk.  "Look, they ran out of coffee in the break room and Ryan's bitching about it, I need you to go grab some coffee from the store down the street.  Now, Ryan's way too picky, and you need to get Starbuck's Cinnamon Dolce Medium Roast k-cups," I opened my mouth, but she shoved me out the door telling me to grab sandwiches for lunch while I was at it.

I got back in my car and blinked for a moment.  I auditioned.  Not interviewed.  When they called telling me that the role was taken, but if I still wanted a job it was mine.  I'd assumed it meant a different role or even an understudy.  But director's assistant?  Not exactly what I had in mind.

I closed my eyes and rested my head on the steering wheel before turning the car on and heading to the store.  I walked inside and grabbed a cart  and headed to the deli.  I had no clue what everyone would want or how many to get, so I got ten of everything, which ended with me having fifty sandwiches in my cart.  Turkey, ham, salami, roast beef, and veggie.  Worst comes to worst, I have lunches for the next month.  I sighed and wandered around until I found the coffee isle.

I found my way over to the k-cups and scanned the shelves.  No cinnamon whatever it was coffee anywhere.  I groaned to myself and heard someone else who was having their own trouble.

"What the fuck is it doing up there?" I almost laughed as I saw a short young man looking up at the top shelf.  I almost offered to help as I was much taller than him and don't have any trouble reaching the top, but someone beat me to it.  I went back to scanning the shelves, but was interrupted by someone crashing into me, bringing us both to the ground.  I felt the weight lift off of me brought myself to sit up.  I sat there for a bit, stunned, but I saw someone offer there hand.  I gladly took it and pulled myself up from the floor.

"You ok?" the stranger asked.  I nodded as I looked at him.  He was....cute.  Same height as me, blonde hair and bright blue eyes.  I saw dimples form on his cheeks as he smiled.  He looked down at my cart and I paled.  I probably looked insane with fifty sandwiches.  He just laughed, I didn't know if that made me feel better or worse.  Turned out to be better.  "You must be the new assistant at the theatre, huh?" I let out a breathy laugh as I nodded.  "My buddy used to work there, I'm guessing you were looking for Ryan's coffee?"  I nodded again.  "It's over h-" he cut off and dropped his smile.  I dropped mine.

"What's wrong?" I asked, a bit worried.

"Wow, I've never seen one turn.  That's actually beautiful,"  I followed his eyes down to my chest and saw my soul-gem glowing an incredible pink.  My heart soared for a moment, then dropped as I realized what this meant.  I met my soulmate!?  My heart soared again.

"Does that mean? Are we?  Are you?"  I didn't know what to ask or what was more important.  I shut up as I watched him reach down his uniform and pull out his pendant.  I frowned and my heart dropped all the way down to my feet.  His gem was green, a pale, soft green.  I just about wanted to cry.  "But... but how? Why?"  I looked down at my gem in confusion and loss.  I looked up at the not-soulmate in front of me.  He was frowning too, but pieced something together before I did.

"Ask the short-stack that just took off running."  He looked at me with a sympathetic smirk.

"Oh..." it took me a minute to process what he was saying. "Ohh."  The kid that ran into me.  Physical contact, that was all it took to activate the gem.  I didn't have to make eye contact or talk to them.  He landed on me, there had to have been skin-to-skin contact somewhere in there.  "OH NO," I groaned.  "I don't even know what he looks like!" I vented out loud, "This is going to be so much harder than it's supposed to be!"  the boy in front of me interrupted my rant.

"I know what he looks like," he had a thoughtful look on his face.  "I could go to the office and ask to check out the cameras to see which way he went.  If that will help at all?"  I felt a spark of hope surge through my chest.

"Of course!  Thank you so much!  Let's go!"  I started to walk, but felt hands grab my shoulders to stop me.

"Hey, man, I'll look into it, but you have a job to get to," ugh, I forgot about that... but was it worth the love of my life!? "I know where to find you, but we should exchange numbers just in case,"  I watched him throw a box of k-cups in my cart and pull out his phone.  I gave him my number and he gave me his.  "I'm Alec, by the way." he extended his hand, I took it and shook it, realizing I'd never introduced myself.

"Roman," I sighed, grateful for his help, but still frustrated at my situation.

This was going to be a long day.

Hey everybody!  I'll probably have another part out later tonight, but HA!  You all thought Roman was the store clerk didn't ya!  Maybe? No?  Not as creative or plot twist-y as I thought? ok.  Well I hope you guys enjoyed it!
