《10》

Right after the sun rose, Shiro left Douma's home. He was riding in a carriage headed off to the capital.

And right a few ways away from him was Inosuke, tailing him and making sure that his presence was concealed as much as possible. Halfties had the ability to sense each other. And he was not going to risk it.

A knock sounded from inside as Shiro opened the door to reveal a demon that worked for Douma. Shiro left the carriage and the demon gave him his goodbyes and left. Inosuke jumped on top of the carriage as he too made his way back to his home.

'It's so... silent...' Shiro looked around. It was honestly quiet, so quiet that it was like it was a dead city. But there were demons, they were wondering about and speaking in hushed tones.

Shiro was looking around for some place to stay in, it would be better for him to plan things out and scope the area for possible escape routes once he finished his job. And he also needed to get into the castle without getting detected, which is basically close to impossible as it took him nearly eight months to raid Muzan's castle for training, and he knew the layout too. But this was different.

'Inn... Inn... a place to stay...' He chanted, looking around the buildings. As he walked, he passed by a store and he walked back, examining the golden threads that were displayed in the window. 'Golden threads...' Shiro fiddled around in his bag and pulled out a black cloth that had golden weaving. 'I mean... Yoriichi said that there were also golden threads in the human kingdom...'

He sighed and walked inside, a bell sounded as an old man appeared. He was a demon, it was obvious. He had two small pairs of horns sticking out and his slitted eyes were standing out. "Hello, boy. How can I help ya?"

Shiro walked closer to him and sat the handkerchief on the table. "This. Can I ask what this is?" He asked as the old man examined it.

"Hmm... where did you get such a thing?" He asked as his eyes glowed a dark color as he examined the cloth. "This silk... it's high quality an' the golden threads... It has traces of holy magic. Boy, where did'cha get this?" He asked, the glow in his eyes were gone as he handed the cloth back to Shiro.

"Well, my grandfather said he got this from a human all those years ago." He told a lie. "What about it?"

The man sighed as he rubbed his temple. "Look, kid, whatever ya do, don't let other demons see that." Shiro then asked. "It has holy magic, 'lot of demons would kill to get a taste of holy magic, good for ya that I couldn't care less about no holy magic and all that shit." Shiro kept quiet as he stared at the handkerchief before putting it back on his bag. "Ya new here right?"

"Yes."

"Then, make sure that'cha find a place before night time, boy. Night time is bad at the capital." The man said as he looked outside his window and he leaned down to Shiro's level. "Demons'll be after ya'. Taking whatever valuable ya got. Or they might just be after yer'.... Blood."

Shiro raised a brow, not knowing what this demon was talking about. "What do you mean, sir?"

"Yer' a halfty. Could smell ya from outside." The man groaned and gestured to the door. "Be sure that ya conceal that smell of yers', demons likes human mana that they would kill each other for a taste of ya. Bye."

Without another word, Shiro was being dragged outside by black, glowing strings and the door shut behind him. Shiro stood there for a few seconds before he raised his hand to his nose and sniffed himself. "What the hell is that guy talking about? I do not smell." He huffed, pulling the hood over his head and made his way further into the capital, looking for an inn.

"Ah, here's one." He finally found an inn. It wasn't too shabby and it didn't look shady. Just a normal looking inn. He also took the advice of what the demon from before told him and he completely blocked off his human side, as much as he hated that, so right now he had his demon form activated. His lilac eyes were back, but this time his right eye was slitted and there were two small pairs of horns sticking out from his forehead. He covered his left eye with an eyepatch to hide it. His hair was the same tho.

Shiro opened the door and was greeted by small chatter by the demons, no one bothered to glance over to him as they minded their business. Shiro made his way to the front desk and rang the bell.

"How may I help you?" A boy suddenly appeared out of black webs. This boy was a few years younger than Shiro. He had spiky white hair and a pale complexion. His eyes were white with red sclera.

"Uh... a room please." Shiro muttered, feeling a bit nervous that this demon might find out that he was a halfty. "For... maybe five days."

The boy nodded as he took a key and handed it to Shiro. "Name?" Shiro told him his first name only. "That would be 15 silver." Shiro paid the right amount as he ran off to his room and immediately got out of his form. It was draining to stay in that form for him.

Let me explain. A demon has two forms; their 'normal' form and their demon form or their true form.

Their 'normal' form makes them look like humans but their eyes and teeth do not change. Only those who are powerful enough can have this 'normal' form and those lowly ranked demons do not have them, like the man from before.

Their demon form is their true form. Every demon has at least a pair of horns, sharp nails, sharp teeth, and slitted eyes. Or in the halfty's case, they only get a slitted eye in one of the pairs. But there are some other demons that don't usually have these features.

Having their true form means they are at full power, well those who can transform, they gain their full speed, full strength, and full magic power.

Shiro could use this to his advantage, but he knew that using this had a toll on him and he could barely control it. During one of his training sessions, he destroyed part of the Holy Garden when he lost control of his true form. It also didn't help that the servants didn't like him.

In their eyes, he was the reason why their saintess died. But they held their tongue, their job was to serve and nothing else.

'I need to find a way to get inside that castle...' Shiro thought, walking over his window and looked at the castle in the distance. It was quite large and it was mostly gray and black, there were a lot of vines running up in its walls. A few overgrown trees and vegetation surrounded it, there was even a mountain beside it. It looked like it had been forgotten. "Dear... father of mine. I'll get you soon enough."

Shiro closed the curtains as he sat over his bed and took out his notebook from his bag as he started to try and figure out the castle from what he saw on the outside.

"Do you think that that nephew of yours has made it inside their capital, Michikatsu?" Muzan asked, placing his pen down as he glanced over the high priest who was sitting at the couch, looking over a few documents himself.

"He should be there by now." Michikatsu answered plainly.

"Perfect." Muzan whispered as he smirked, looking over his window where he saw his whole capital, bustling with life. 'That boy is more than enough. He can kill that demon. And after he does... There won't be anything to threaten my country.'

Michikatsu silently glanced over his king to see him smiling with his eyes closed. 'Ugh... does he really have to have such a stupid face...'

"You just called me stupid, did you not?" Muzan opened his eyes, glaring at Michikatsu.

"How could I dare, I am nothing but your loyal subject, your majesty." Michikatsu mocked, hiding his chuckle as he caught a vase that flew to his face. "Now, now, your majesty. Please do be careful with your stuff, those were expensive." Muzan rolled his eyes as he returned to his papers. 'Shiro... after you kill that demon... please make sure that you don't get caught. Even if you are a powerful child... you won't stand a chance against those.'

"Your majesty." Michikatsu started as Muzan hummed in response. "When are you going to marry?"

Michikatsu jumped through the window as a chair followed, barely missing him.
