Allah is with the Patient
by Mozamm Khan
"Growing up in America as a Muslim can get quiet hard at times. Actually, not really at times, it's hard all the time. From being in grade school to high school to being in a university. I grew up around people who did anything possible.. from kids doing drugs in 6th grade to coming drunk to class in 8th grade and so on.. It almost seemed like everyone around me was a test for me. I used to get peer pressured to do many things just so I can 'try it' because my 'parents aren't watching' but I always chose not to go close to any of those things. I was called all sorts of names for not trying smoking, drinking or acts similar to those.. Everything around us is hard.. from the people having misconceptions about Muslims to staying away from the bad influences.. It's all a huge test. I always remember that 'The blessing is in the struggle' & once that comes to mind, everything comes off easy.
From childhood to adulthood, we all face challenges and hardships being Muslims in America.. It's not only America now, it's all over the world Muslims are facing challenges and hardships. Our job is to help each other and clear those misconceptions about Islam people have in their minds & help the people around us so society in general can become better. It's safe to say that the Muslims are going through one of the worst times in history. Spread the word and awareness and be the voices for the voiceless. Muslims often think we can't do much to help the Muslims in Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Burma, China, Nigeria.. (list goes on) but we have a huge task. It's to raise awareness for those people, become better Muslims ourselves so people can see the true light of Islam, do dua for them and to be patient with everything we do.."
