Nighttime Theories

Dipper's POV

The first day with Crystal was fun. While we shared the normals parts of last summer, she shared some stories of summer camp and school. It was kind of shocking to find out that she had not that many friends, but then again, kids are mean. I knew what she went through when she mentioned how kids teased her for her blue hair.

"Kids can be so mean sometimes." Mabel had said after finding out.

"Ugh, I know!" Crystal agreed.

"During school one year; this girl put her gum in my hair right before I was supposed to take my picture for picture day. Dipper helped me by shaving the side of my head. He did the same and we took a silly picture together."

"There were also these kids who would make fun of me because of my birthmark." I said.

She cocked her head to the side. "Birthmark?"

I lifted up my hair to reveal my Big Dipper birthmark.

Her blue eyes widened. "That's why your called Dipper! Dude that's awesome! The kids who teased you were probably just jealous."

"Really? You think so?" I asked, my cheeks heating up.

"Yes, absolutely, definitely!" She answered.

"T-thanks." I stuttered.

"It seems really cool to have a sibling. You'll at least have one friend and one person to defend you in fights." Crystal said, falling back on her bed.

"You don't know if you had any siblings?" Mabel asked.

"No. I don't remember much of my biological family. I mean," she put her hand to her head thinking. "I think I remember my father a bit."

"Do you remember what he looks like?" I asked.

She furred her eyebrows, deep in thought. "Not really, I remember the color yellow, or was it black...?" She let out a sigh. "Nah, I don't really remember them."

"Oh. Sorry," Mabel said, feeling bad for mentioning the subject.

"No! It's ok! They were the ones who missed out on an awesome daughter!" She said, laughing.

"You got that right!" Mabel answered smiling and revealing her braces. I smiled as well.

It was about ten when Grunkle Stan had literally dragged us to bed. I knew Crystal was already sleeping. Mabel and I were still up since Ford had said that he wanted to discuss that matter of Bill more. He wanted us down stairs at 10:22.

I glanced at the alarm clock Crystal had. The red blinking numbers red 10:21, so we should start moving. I carefully sat up on my bed and walking over to Mabel, who was, not surprisingly, sleeping.

"Mabel!" I whispered, shaking her.

"No... Come on Mr. Unicorn, to Ice Cream Land...." Mabel mumbled, turning.

"Mabel! Come on! Ford wants us!" I whispered once again. "We're going to discuss Unicorns!" I said.

She shot up, and was about to yell, but I slapped my hand over her mouth. I glared at her, then looked over to Crystal, who was still sleeping.

"Come on!" I whispered to Mabel, after removing my hand.

She got out of her bed and we moved to the door, the moonlight shining and showing us various objects on the ground that we could have tripped over. Most of the stuff was make-up or posters that hadn't been put up yet. They were all Mabel's.

We slowly crept out the door and down the stairs to the kitchen, where both Ford and Stan were waiting with the light on.

We awkwardly took seats next between the original Mystery Twins.

"Ok, now that we're all here, I think I'll get straight to the point of the fact that Bill might have returned." Ford said.

"Is there any signs so far?" Mabel asked, pulling her chair closer.

Ford winced. "None so far, but I have had the feeling I was being watched lately."

"Me too. I'm pretty sure we have someone trying to figure out my Stancake recipe." Stan added. "Wendy and Soos also admitted that they felt like they were being watched, specifically when talking to friends."

"Ok, what about the statue? Has that changed at all?" I asked.

"No. It's still the same, yet it looks like it doesn't have as many cracks as it had before." Ford said. "I checked earlier."

"So, were not telling Crystal about this?" I asked, look to Stan.

"No. I don't need her getting hurt." He answered.

"But, she should know. What if Bill does appear in her dreams? What is she makes a deal with him?" Mabel asked, taking the words from my mouth.

Stan sighed. "She knows better. I taught her everything about scamming and dealing with con artists that I know of." He answered. "She'll be ok."

"Bill uses flattery, Stanley. Will she be able to see through that?" Ford asked.

"Oh yeah she would. She is always very cautious with people who start off complimenting her."

Ford, Mabel, and I all shared a look. "Stan, we really should tell her about everything. Maybe you should reconsider." I said.

"Maybe. Maybe later, when we find out the deal with Bill." He said reluctantly.

I let out small and silent sigh. As much as she deserved to know, Stan was right protecting her.

Crystal's POV

*dream transition*

I looked around and scanned my surroundings. All I saw was white. This was surely odd.

"Hello? Anyone? Any character?" I called out. "Karkat? Ron? Um, Frisk? Maybe Frodo?" I yelled, listing the names of characters. "I'll settle for a killer animatronic!"

"Hmmm, this is a weird dream." I said out loud to myself.

"Yes, it really is."

I froze. I didn't expect someone to answer me.

I turned around to see, to see... nothing. Talk about anti-climatic.

"Um, who said that?" I questioned, not seeing anything.

"Up here!" the voice called again.

I looked up as the voice instructed.

I was greeted by the sight of a man, a much older man. Maybe in his late thirties. I was kinda blinded with the color he was wearing. It was a lot of yellow. I mean, yellow shirt, yellow hair, a yellow eye, mostly everything was yellow except for his shorts, shoes, top hat, and an eye patch over his right eye. to be honest, I thought the hat was way to formal for a guy who was wearing shorts and a short sleeved shirt. But it was his choice.

"Hey, I'm not that old." He said.

I was taken a back. Did he just...?

"Read your mind? Yep! Nice to finally see ya Snowflake!" He said, finishing my thoughts.

"'Snowflake?'" I asked.

He came down to ground level and held out his hand.

"The names William!" He said, ignoring my question.

I shook it cautiously. "Crystal." I said. "What do you mean by finally seeing me? And what's the deal with snowflake?"

"The first part is for another day. But the deal with snowflake is because of your necklace!" He answered, still very cheerily.

The tone still bothered me.

"So, you are very acquainted with the Pines, huh?" He asked, pacing around me.

"Y-yeah, what's it to you?" I asked.

"Well, nothing much. Just wanted to check my suspicions. How are they doing?" He asked.

"Meh." I said. "How did you know their last name?" I asked, refusing to say anything about my family.

"Oh, I know lots of things. Lot's of things..." He said, trailing of at the end.

Stan had warned me about strangers, and I could really say this guy's behavior was really raising my suspicions.

"Um, ok. That's good to go. I'll be going now. It was really nice meeting you, Mr. William. However, I need to wake up now. So, have a very pleasant day, sir." I said, walking away from the yellow man.

His good eye looked me up and down as I walked away from him.

"Tsk tsk. Fez taught you well." He said.

I froze. I immediately thought of Stan. Why? Because he always wore that fez when I was little.

"Oh? So you do recognize my little nick-names? How's Stan doing? Speaking of which, how's Ford?" He asked.

"Sir, I'd really love to answer your questions, but I really have to run. I have important, er, dream stuff to attended to. You know, like attending character meet ups and other stuff. Boiz!" I said, not turning away from him. Stan always said never turn your back on a stranger.

"Before you go Crystal, how about we make a deal?" He asked, once again sticking out his hand.

"Sorry Mr., I'm not allowed to make deals with complete strangers who somehow know my family."

"Well, I don't technically know your family. I know your adopted family." He said, moving closer.

He knows about that?!

"Yes. Yes I do." He answered smugly.

"Bye Sir!" I said, and ran, pinching my arm and slapping myself to wake myself up. I didn't mind the pain, I never really did.

I heard the man laughing behind me. "Nice meeting you too Snowflake! I'll see you soon!"

I woke up. It was nine. It was really early. I looked to Mabel and Dipper's beds. They were empty.

I let out a groan. I reluctantly got up from my bed. Grabbing some clothes, I started a mental conversation with myself.

Should I tell them? I mean, they guy did know their names?

Nah, you don't need to worry them. It was probably a really specific dream.

It didn't feel like a dream Crystal. You know that.

Yeah, but, it probably was. There's no proof it was real. I'm not going to tell them.

But what if it happens again? What if you can't wake up?

Ok, let's do this: if it happens again, I'll tell them. If it doesn't, then we'll forget about this all together.

It's going to happen again! You heard him! He said he'll see you soon. Besides, why did you give him your real name?

I don't know! William probably isn't his real name now that I think about it...

Well stop thinking right now! I agree with what you said earlier. Deal?

Deal.

Wow, I just had a whole conversation with my sub conscience.

I know. It's kinda weird.

I'm going to stop now...

I walked out of the attic and stopped talking to myself. Today was a new day. I doubt the dream was anything more that a dream...

Right?
