"Where the hell is she? Neither Jayce nor Viktor has seen her." Caitlyn's voice was strained as she tried to keep quiet but her frustration quickly bled through despite her effort.

Vi couldn't even pay her voice any mind as she was too busy pacing the living room floor with her phone to her ear with a scowl. After a few more seconds listening to whoever was on the other side she groaned and hung up the phone.

"Silco doesn't know where she is either. He only said there was an incident at the school and she ran away." She glared down at her phone, maybe hoping it would tell her the information she desperately wanted to know.

"That doesn't tell us where she's been for the past 3 days, Violet!"

"You think I don't know that?! You think I'm not worried, she's my little sister! You don't even know the half of what she could be getting into right now-"

"I don't know?" The questioned made them both pause as a silence lingered in the room as they both disgested their words and feelings. They both knew very well that Caitlyn was with Vi throughout the entire time she tried to "reform" her sister. She saw them both at their worst and stayed anyway. She had no right to blow up at the woman like that, especially not about Jinx, when she knew her girlfriend was just as worried as well.

Vi sighed and went to apologize, only for Caitlyn to raise her hand and shake her head. They both were feeling a lot of emotions but getting upset with each other wouldn't help anyone. Especially when there was someone else who would take all of this much harder than they were.

Vi nodded but couldn't help but ask, "What do we tell her?" It was a whispered question, one that Caitlyn didn't know the answer to. Both of them still hadn't told Lilith that Jinx had gone missing, instead they held it off as long as possible, but it was now Friday, and Jinx always took Lilith to spend the weekend at her place. And if she couldn't for some reason, she always took the time to explain why and how she would make it up to the girl. But now Jinx was missing and couldn't explain herself to any of them.

"We have to tell her the truth. Lying to her for any longer will just make her not trust us in the future."

"You're right but... how is she gonna take it? She loves Jinx more than anyone else."

Vi sighed as she finally allowed herself to sit on the couch and let her head fall into her hands, "I know."

"You're lying. Mama's not missing... she can't be missing. I'll prove it!"

It was extremely hard to watch the slowly crumpling expression on Lilith's face as they took the time to explain that Jinx was missing and they couldn't find her or get in touch with her. It was so mature of the 7-year-old to even listen the entire time before she denied them, but they expected this.

The little girl ran upstairs as the two adults looked at each other sadly before following her at a much slower pace, unsure of what she would be using as proof. When they finally reached her room, they found the heartbreaking sight of their daughter fiddling with the phone Jinx had made just for her, but she was staring at it with furrowed eyebrows and tears welling in her eyes the longer her calls went unanswered.

It took her a few minutes before she finally dropped the phone on her carpeted floor and looked at them with the most hurt expression they had ever seen from her. Caitlyn couldn't help but reach out and pull the girl into a tight hug.

"Why? Why isn't Mama answering? She-she p-promised?" And that's all it took for the girl to let herself break down. Vi slowly lowered herself and took to rubbing both of their backs, easily seeing how Caitlyn was silently crying along with Lilith and not skipping out on giving her girlfriend comfort as well.

"We'll find her, I promise." Even though Vi said this as a comfort, a more uncomfortable and unsettling thought came to her mind; what state will she be in when we do?

A/N: How about a bit of angst? This will be like a mini arc, and it’s going to be the start of exploring the lore/background of our characters in this Modern Au.
    I do want this arc completed, plus a few other characters to be introduced before we finally get to Isha but I promise I want to get to her as soon as possible as well!
