Chapter sixteen
Gushes of water were falling down on Marlin's head which was throbbing like crazy. An inch of icy water sent shivers up his spine, and he felt bruised everywhere. He looked up, where iron bars were stretched across an opening twenty feet up. Water was falling through a hole in gushes.
"I'm in a pit," He muttered, panic building in his chest. "No, no, no."
He ran in a full circle, pounding on the concrete walls that surrounded him. He was stuck in a concrete pit, and there was no way to get out. He would never get to his son, never see him again.
Hardly being aware of it, he started shouting, pounding on the walls angrily. He was so close. So close to finding his son. His knuckles started bleeding, but he hardly noticed. Two hands grabbed his wrists and started trying pry them from the wall.
"Marlin," Dory said. "Stop that. You're bleeding."
He ignored her, and she let go of him for a moment. He kept pounding the wall, screaming his son's name.
A heavy object suddenly crashed down on his head and he crumbled to the ground. Dory leaned over him, holding a long object.
"Now is not the time for a meltdown, Marlin." She said sharply.
"My son," He moaned, leaning his head against the wall.
"Your son isn't going to be helped with you acting like this."
He looked at her, and swallowed. "You're right."
She nodded. "Good."
He studied the object in her hand. "What is that?"
She looked down at it with a surprised expression. "I—I actually don't know."
He leaned over. "It looks like an airplane propeller."
"What's that doing in here?"
Marlin stood up. "We need to look for an exit. This water is getting too deep."
The water had risen to a foot, and more was gushing through.
"Marlin, I think we're under the shore." Dory said nervously.
His face paled. "And the tide's coming in."
