Chapter 76: Kiyomizu
I do not own One Piece.
................................
Perhaps I really had died during that last fight and gone to heaven. It had to be the only explanation for the mountain of oranges placed in front of me. They tasted a little more sour than normal, but I absolutely loved it.
I didn't both peeling the oranges, and instead just bit right into it. My sketchbook sat on one of my crossed legs as I started sketching. Zoro sat beside me, acting as a back rest for me, and cheering as more sake was presented to him. Mermaids were currently serving him enough sake to fill an army. Franky sat near us, laughing loudly and cheering as well.
Before we leave Shirahoshi had asked if I would do a painting of her and her family. As she hasn't been able to leave her tower for years in danger of being killed, they didn't have any recent paintings. Clearly the rest of hThis er family agreed with the idea, and even offered compensation, compensation which I made sure Nami didn't hear because I know she would have risen the pay. What they did offer was slightly lower than what my normal paintings go for, however I wasn't about to get greedy with it.
Not even Arisu has had the opportunity to paint this royal family, and she's painted almost every big royal family. However, this family was always off the list for obvious reasons. Just knowing that I get to do that is more than enough in general, especially because I'm sure she'll be a mix of both jealous and proud. I'd have to gather their family later to draw them, after the party.
Squinting at my drawing, I looked back at Zoro for a moment before looking back at my picture. It looked as if it was correct, going off of memory at least. According to Arisu I have a photographic memory, which she claims is great for when I have to recall images for drawing. However, I definitely wouldn't mind double checking my drawing with the real life Zoro later on. Taking another bite of the orange I sketched in the other figures.
"Oi, Katsu." I looked up at Franky mid chew with a 'huh?'. "Your wind seems a lot stronger! Plus, you know haki now?"
Swallowing first, I wiped my mouth and grinned holding up a arm and flexing some muscle. "Ah! Of course I learned haki. Arisu-sama wouldn't have let me live if I didn't at least learn armament haki. Half of my day with her was spent with her fighting me, the other half was art focus and surprise attacks." I felt shifting and looked up at Zoro, who was blinking at me.
Smirking I wiggled my eyebrows. "Ah, actually I would love to check and make sure I drew your body right, Mr. Hottie. I mean, I have to make sure I'm drawing with complete accuracy, and sometimes a person's mind can play tricks on them."
His staring was replaced with a small blush and him frowning at me. "Stop that." He scolded.
I grinned, "Ah, but Mr. Hottie, I really should double check."
"That's not my name." He mumbled, taking another sip of his sake.
I shrugged, "Not my fault that the universe is really trying to name you Mr. Hottie because you got really hot. Just like Mr. Glow Up over there." I pointed towards Usopp. "I call it as I see it."
Franky chuckled, "What about me?"
I looked over at Franky. "You're still Franky," He frowned, "But Franky is as Super as it gets. I really don't think I can upgrade your name. Mr. Hottie needed an upgrade."
He grinned and Zoro let out a huff.
I chuckled, grabbing another orange. I gave a small wiggle as I danced and continued to eat the orange. Before we leave I really need Sanji to make sure we stock up on navel oranges. Nami's tangerines are too sweet. I enjoy the slight sour taste that comes with the navel oranges, otherwise it gets lost on my weak taste buds.
After I had completed the sketch, I found myself leaning back more against Zoro. My eyelids were growing heavier by the second, and without much thought I let them shut. It wasn't long before I fell asleep, though I could have sworn I felt someone close and take my sketchbook before something was thrown over me.
........................................................................
"Katsu." I jolted awake and grabbed my fans out of reflex. Luckily I stopped just before I hit Nami in the face, the navigator staring at me wide eyed.
"Ah, sorry." I muttered, "I thought I was about to be punched six feet down again."
"Uh huh..." Nami frowned, backing off of me a little bit. "Go help Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro. They're getting some treasure, and the King said we can keep it. It'll go quicker if you're there because you can do your wind thing."
I frowned at her, sitting up. "Why can't I take a full nap on this island. That's literally all I've wanted to do, and people keep waking me up." I stood up, still grumbling. "Just a nap. That's literally the only thing I've asked for. I swear, as soon as we leave I'm gonna sleep a whole fucking day. A whole fucking day."
"Yeah, yeah, now go." Nami patted me back and ushered me to follow after the monster trio that was watching my little fit.
Luffy looked as if he didn't really see the problem in any of it. He probably didn't, the boy didn't take naps. He wouldn't understand my pain. Sanji just looked sympathetic in general. He hated any woman being distressed in anything, however Nami had caused the distress so he was conflicted. Zoro, on the other hand, looked at me in sympathetic understanding. He completely understood the pain. I have no doubt he was woken up from a nap as well. With one tired look from me, he nodded slowly and patted my head as I caught up with them.
"A whole day." He mumbled.
"A whole fucking day." I mumbled back.
The trip down didn't take too long. Zoro let me rest against him again as I started dozing off again. Sanji had tried to pick a fight upon seeing me leaning heavily against Zoro, however Zoro quickly shut him up by saying something along the lines that I was sleeping. Of course that didn't matter because as soon as Sanji shut up, Luffy had grabbed me and exclaimed that he wanted to see how cool I drew his fight.
I stared at my Captain before handing over my sketchbook. "Just go through it, Luffy. You're my Captain, so I don't care if you look at it anytime."
A big grin stretched across his face as he sat back down and started going through the pages. Both Zoro and Sanji blinked at me in shock. Last time someone on our crew, Nami, tried to flip through my sketchbook, I had pretty much threatened to cut her. She apologized, but added another 100 thousand onto my debt that I will absolutely never pay.
"Katsu! Katsu! Katsu!" With each syllable of my name, Luffy shook me trying to get my attention. I sighed and looked back at him with a 'hmm?'. He lifted the book to face me, a picture of one of my childhood memories was sketched on the paper.
That one particular was of my mother, who was sitting on the ground beside Shanks, both had flower crowns on their heads with Sato placing one on our mother and me placing one on Shanks. It was around the time we had just met Makoto, so he wasn't yet living with us and his grandparents were skeptical when Shanks came over. The memory itself brought a smile on my face.
"Who's that?" Luffy asked, pointing to the woman.
"Ka-san." I answered, my smile widening. "Ah, Sato and I were really excited that Shanks had visited, and my mom had just shown us how to make a flower crown, so we decided to make some ourselves. We made it into some kind of competition on who could make a better crown." I snorted, "Clearly I won."
Luffy blinked, his eyes growing wide. "You have a mom?!"
"Idiot!" Zoro and Sanji exclaimed, banging our Captain over the head as I started laughing.
.....................................................................
I frowned looking over all the treasure we were stuffing into bags. "Ah, we get to keep all of this? You guys sure this won't kill their economy?"
The three males looked up at me, blinking. "Think of all the meat we can buy with it though!"
I frowned more at Luffy.
"Oranges." Zoro and Sanji said, making me blink. "We can buy a lot of oranges too."
"Ah, well I guess it should be okay then." I mumbled, shoving more into my own bag.
Once our bags were completely full we tied it all up. Sanji quickly ran over to me, "Here! I'll carry your-..."
His eyes grew wide when I lifted the bag without much issue. Even Zoro and Luffy blinked at me.
"Your bag is as big as ours..." Zoro muttered.
I nodded, "Yeah."
"Do you- are you sure you don't need help?" Sanji asked, "I know it's really heavy, here-"
"Touch the bag and I'll cut off your lips." I said, making the chef freeze. "It's not that heavy." They stared at me, looking to see if I was lying or not.
"On another note, I don't think I have enough energy to fly us all back to the castle." I added, hearing them grunt as they picked up the bags.
"Eh?" Luffy asked, "Can't you just do it? It doesn't take much energy to use your devil fruit."
I sighed, "Mine is different, remember? Every time I use it it's like it is using up my own personal energy, plus I can't just turn into air like other logia devil fruit users."
"Mystery devil fruit." Luffy nodded.
"We can use a flying fish." I said, not bothering to add in anymore.
"Which way is the town, Katsu, Zoro?" Luffy asked, looking at us.
Zoro and I rose our arms and pointed in the same direction. "That way."
"Let's go this way." Sanji decided, turning the opposite direction. "Katsu-chan, if you get tired please tell me and I'll take over for you!"
I rolled my eyes, "I'll be fine, Sanji."
I didn't train with Sato for nothing. Though, this whole strength thing is still a bit to get a hang of. At least I know it does work, I just need to be more conscious of it.
Zoro looked at me and frowned. "Are you really okay?" I nodded, grinning at him with a wink. His face flushed and he carried on walking.
"Huh?" Luffy squinted for a moment, "There's people ahead!" A big smile formed on his face. "Hey! That's the sweets factory! Remember when Pappagu mentioned it?"
"I just hope they have some flying fish there." Zoro muttered.
I looked over the tall building that was in charge of making sweets. However, my eyes narrowed in on a big jolly roger on the factory. A sense of dread filled me as I recognized the jolly roger as one of the new world emperors. Living with Mamoru ensured that I know each of their flags. That flag couldn't be a good sign.
Luffy was waving back at the cheering citizens as they asked if he enjoyed the party. "Yeah, I ate my fill! The meat was good, but those fish-men island sweets were the best!"
Their cheers silenced and instead they shook their heads and tried to silence the sweets talk. I frowned, slowing a little as I looked over the situation.
"Oh, hey! The catfish guy's here too!"
My eyes narrowed in on the stand out guy, a lion with glasses. Clearly, he isn't from here.
"Hey, kid! What was that about sweets?!" He yelled out.
Sanji noticed me slowing down and looked down at me. "What's wrong?" I shook my head, wanting to figure out what exactly it was. Sometime was off, but I still didn't know yet.
"-Good idea! I just stuffed myself silly on 'em!" Luffy grinned.
"What's goin' on here?! He just said he was eatin' some!!" The lion glared at the catfish.
"I-I assure you, there is a very good reason-"
"Woah, that guy's a talking lion!!" Luffy grinned, then paused. "Oh, wait. We already have something like that on our crew."
I sighed, did he really just forget about Chopper then call him a something? Poor Doctor.
"Pekoms! Glaring at every man, woman and child will not get you our sweets back!"
I looked over at the new voice. It was a man with long legs and a big round body, which I couldn't tell if he was part of the hatched egg or if the hatched egg was part of his outfit. He was bald, and had a tea cup as a hat, as well as a long mustache.
"Let us explore more peaceful means. Le tea party is in quatre days. If we are able to leave on le morrow we should return in time." He said, taking a sip of his tea hat.
"Oh great, another weirdo. Who are you?" Luffy demanded, making my head snap to my Captain that was frowning at the tea man.
"Ahem... A very bonjour to you, half boiled pirates..." He said, "Je m'appelle Baron Tamago, at your service."
He stood up, taking me by surprise as I realized how tall he was after all. Though I have no idea how his legs support the rest of him.
"Do remember the name, s'il vous plait. Now, did I happen to hear that you dined upon le sweets?" Baron asked.
I moved to nudge Luffy to quiet him, however he had already answered. "I sure did! In face, I could go for some more if you've got any!"
"But the lack of just such is our current problem. That logo you see adorning the factory is the Jolly Roger of our boss, Charlotte Linlin." That sick feeling I had earlier has grown stronger. "This is a sign that the island is le territory of the pirate emperor, Big Mom."
"Shit." I muttered. We may have just gotten Fish man island in more trouble.
"Meaning that Fishman island is under le protection of the Big Mom name." Baron added.
Said protection never comes free. Especially from an emperor of the New World.
"Big Mom, huh? She sounds nice!" Luffy laughed with a big smile. "I'd like to meet her."
I inched closer to Zoro, who was scowling at the whole interaction. Either he has some knowledge as well, or he has a bad feeling. Both would likely be correct given his facial expression.
"I'm afraid you do not comprendre. This is a business. They are allowed to display le flag in exchange for ten tons of sweets every month."
"Ten tons?!" Luffy exclaimed.
"Indeed. Mama does je t'aime her sweets most dearly." Baron shrugged. "Mama especially loves le sweets from this particular factory. I will give you until tomorrow morning."
Given that most pirates won't be forgiving, I can assume that Big Mom won't be forgiving if she does not receive her candy. Which would mean that we might just have saved Fishman island only for it to fall to some crazy hag.
"Where the fuck were you guys when they were under attack then?" I demanded, stepping out from beside Zoro, making Baron turn to look at me. "If all you're gonna do is just display a flag then you're some garbage of an emperor! I know damn well Shanks would have at least offered protection too!"
Baron blinked at me in surprise, as if just noticing I was there. "Kiyomizu...." He shook his head, clearing his throat. However I noticed Sanji's eyes widen and snap to me for a brief second before looking back at Baron. "As I stated before, we allow them to display Mama's flag, which is already quite powerful in general. Also, given your affiliation with Red Haired Shanks, you should know to be careful and hold your tongue when talking against an emperor. Next time, we won't be as forgiving, even if you are related to him."
"Oi! You don't threaten Katsu-chan, Egg-man!" Sanji yelled out, stepping up closer to me. "Also, you're saying that you can't just wait a couple days?!"
Zoro took a step closer as well, "I didn't realize you could be an emperor with such tiny balls." I snorted at Zoro's comment.
"Mama is NOT a MAN. She is une femme, I will have you know." Baron glared at Zoro. "She does not have le balls AT ALL!"
"She;s a madame?" Sanji blinked, a faint blush covering his cheeks before he cleared his throat with a look from me. "All right, then what happens if the sweets are late?"
I sighed, "You really can't piece it all together." I mumbled, ready for Luffy to get all pissed off. Perhaps I was really lucky being around Mamoru, he made sure I was decently educated about this kind of stuff.
"The arrangement is void! Big Mom will send her fiercest corsairs to bring Fishman Island to utter ruination!"
Big surprise.
"She's gonna destroy Fishman Island?!!" Luffy growled, pointing towards Baron. "Are you guys nits?! Who destroys a kingdom over desserts?! We just SAVED this island!!"
Double big surprise.
Should I tell Luffy that this is a common thing from someone as powerful as a new world emperor? Honestly, there are only two I trust. Shanks, clearly, and Taro. He can't be a terrible guy from what I remember, if he was he wouldn't have helped save me back then.
On another note, I can completely understand Luffy's anger. Especially after we just did all this extra work to help save the island. However, I should keep my mouth shut for future reference. I wouldn't want to start out a war with her, Luffy might not like that.
I glanced over when the snail the lion was holding started ringing. Luffy started walking towards the Lion as they argued over who would answer the snail. Then he picked it up, an angry frown on his face.
"Hello?"
"HEY!" The Lion went to grab the snail, but Luffy turned his back on him. "Is this Big Mom?!"
"You're not Tamago or Pekoms. Who is this?"
"I'm Monkey D. Luffy, the guy who's gonna be king of the pirates!"
"Stop, stop, stop, stop!!" Baro and Pekom pleaded.
"Monkey... D..." She paused, "Ahh. Garp's grandson. I remember now, the very boy who stirred up that was two years ago."
"There aren't any sweets!" Luffy yelled, a vein poking out of his forehead. I blinked at him in confusion, what was he about to do? "I ate all of 'em!"
"So they're truly gone?! All 10 tons?!"
"I ate ALL 10 TONS!"
My mouth dropped, and I felt the urge to grin.
"You shouldn't lie to me, you fool. You're covering up for the Fish-men."
"No. I did eat them! It's true!" Luffy exclaimed. "I just didn't realize they were promised to someone else." He reached out and pulled at my bag and his. "Look, we just got a whole buncha treasure! You can have all of it!! As repayment for the sweets!"
I winced, Nami would be mad. However, I suppose that she might understand.
"I can't eat treasure!! I want my yummy sweets!"
"Are those all filled with treasure?!" Baron asked, Luffy nodded, patting the bag. "M-Mama! This is Tamago, I beg your patience..."
Luffy took the bag off of me, setting his down and Zoro and Sanji doing the same. Just in case they do decide to take the treasure.
"Don't feed me that bull crap, Tamago! How dare you suggest such a cowardly thing! What pirate worth her sugar compromises on what she wants?!" She paused, then, "However, heh heh... I find myself intrigued by the nerve of this boy. As you wish. I will alter the target of my wrath. From Fishman Island, to you!"
I sighed, this is why we shouldn't wake up during a nap.
"I will remember that name, Monkey D. Luffy! Now come! To the New World!"
A scowl started to form on my lips. Was she trying to command my captain?
"Just you wait!" I paused from saying anything as Luffy started yelling again. "Now I've got a reason to find YOU! I can't leave this place in your hands. I'm gonna find you in the New World, kick your butt, and announce that Fishman Island is MY territory!" He hung up on the snail.
I grinned before letting out a laugh, leaning against the nearest thing which happened to be my Captain. Luffy looked at me, his teeth still bared from his anger, and stared at me in confusion.
"Oh man, Nami is gonna be PISSED!" I laughed, then patted Luffy's shoulder. "Good call, Captain. There's so many reasons I follow you, this being one of them. Now, we should probably get back to the castle." I looked over as Zoro and Sanji went to stand beside us. "Ah, I ain't telling Nami what happened."
Not only has Luffy given away our treasure, but now he's picked a fight with Big Mom. I can't imagine how pissed off Nami is gonna be.
"Same." Zoro grumbled.
"Actually, I really need to get some stuff." I mumbled, turning around to walk away from the three. However, two arms stopped me. I looked back to see Zoro holding one arm and Luffy holding my other.
"You'll suffer with us." Zoro smirked.
"Nami won't be as mad if you come along too!" Luffy exclaimed, nodding to the idea of it.
I shook my head, "Ah, really, I really need to go-" Tears fell down my face as they started dragging me away.
I'm not scared of most things, but Nami being told our treasure is gone is not most things. That is the literal equivalent to an enraged demon finally being freed to torment.
.......................................................................
I had been correct on Nami being pissed. It did indeed end with a large bump on my head, as well as Sanji's, Zoro's and Luffy's. She didn't mind Luffy yelling at Big Mom, but him offering Big Mom our treasure was her breaking point.
Shortly after that I brought out all of my painting supplies and began setting up. Given the size of the King and Shirahoshi, I figured I should use a giant canvas, which required more paint. Thankfully they agreed to compensate for the supplies as well.
After Nami's anger about Luffy giving away the treasure, I figured I would give my compensation up towards the crew. It should be somewhat of what Luffy gave away. Besides, in the end I already have a good amount of money saved up from my previous paintings I sold with Arisu.
"Katsu, do you need a ladder perhaps?" Neptune asked, blinking as he saw the giant canvas, which was close to the size of him.
I shook my head, opening up giant tubes of paint. "Nah, I'm good."
"Have you ever painted on a canvas that large before?" Fukaboshi asked, adjusting his clothes.
I nodded, "Yeah, there was one I did that was actually an entire wall at a museum. That one took me longer though because it was the first time I tried to paint to that big of a scale. Don't worry, this one won't take me a couple of days. I'm thinking two hours, max. At least for how long I need you guys to stand there and pose."
"Museum?" Shirahoshi questioned, her eyes widening. "You painted for a museum?"
I shrugged looking up at them and frowning at their scattered pose. "Ah, yeah. Shirahoshi, move over a bit to the left," I shook my head when she moved, "No, other left. Good. Princes, yeah all of you, go on the other side of Shirahoshi. Great. King Neptune, your beard is a bit bushy, brush it real quick." I nodded after he did that, "Good." I paused to stare at them, they each had big smiles on their faces. Smiles which crinkled their eyes and brought their cheeks up. "Great, keep that pose please, I need to make sure I get the sketch part down good, then you should be free to relax."
Stepping up, I used the air to walk on as I started drawing in the rough sketch onto the canvas. After this I would need to start laying down the background paint. Which, after having gotten to talk to them, I've decided to use Fishmen island as their background. I'm going to draw in the citizens, though tiny, standing behind them. It won't bring the focus away from the family, but I think it would be a nice touch, and to me it helps show that they really do care too.
To help make sure that the painting won't be destroyed by marines, I will have to sign it under Mitsu. As Mitsu is a well established artist, they wouldn't be able to destroy art that easily, where as if I sign it Katsu they can at the blink of an eye simply because I'm a pirate.
It's good to see that they can be a family again. All thanks to Luffy.

End of Chapter 76!
Early update and a long chapter! The next one I think ya'll all like too, though it's kinda fluffy. There were some things left here, and I was probably too bold when I put it in but I figured why not. Any clues you noticed, or think you noticed? I love hearing theories.
This is not edited.
