Chapter 74: 3 Things He Hates
I do not own One Piece
.......................................
3RD POV
...........................
Katsu is annoyed. The Fishman was still laughing loudly, claiming how she'll be dead soon from the poison in her body. The other mutters from the fishmen have circled around her, and all in all she just wanted to finish out the fight.
This puffer man was keeping her from kicking in Decken's teeth, which at this point is all she wants to do.
So when he came charging at her again she didn't hold back and slid out the blades of her fans. Haki covered them and she dodged his assault on her and sent a hard slash back at him. Her strength went all in, allowing the haki infused slash to go though the air and into the fishman.
A frown was on her face when he fell down on the ground, blood pooling from his wound. His face was nothing short of bewilderment and pain. The pirates winced around him as he turned to look at Katsu with wide eyes.
"B-But.... you're poisoned."
Her eye twitched as she looked down at him. "Dumbass. I heard those guys talking." She turned to bring her attention to the new set of pirates charging at her. Their attention went away from Chopper as she had finished up with Krusty. "Learn to actually fight instead of thinking you're gonna win because you poison someone."
He opened his mouth to protest, but was cut off by a body being slammed on him. Katsu grinned as she had slammed the body down extra hard, her satisfaction growing when she heard two different cracks before both pirates were down for the count.
Two of of group of pirates paled at the strength she had just shown, both of which turned and brought their attention to another crew member. The rest didn't pay those two any mind and ran at Katsu, who was standing back up.
The blades of her fans were no longer out, and she was simply jabbing pirates and fanning them away. The mocking they had done earlier was fading away. The fans they had mocked were becoming more troublesome than their swords. She wasn't showing much movement for the most part, so even their joke about her dancing was invalid.
She was beating them down and making it look effortless. While it attracted the attention of the Fisherman Pirates, most of the crew was too busy to take much notice. With the exception of a three members.
Their thoughts ranging from shock, to pride, to some form of attraction.
All in all, one thing was clear. Everyone one on the crew had spend their time away doing major training. Katsu being only one of them.
...................................
There were some things Makoto hated. He absolutely hated cantaloupe, the soft texture drove him nuts and the flavor was meh. He hated having to swab the deck when he was on Shanks ship, especially since Sato normally passed that chore onto him by some bet he would lose. However, most of all, he hated, absolutely loathed, keeping things from his siblings. Especially Sato.
Makoto started hiding his actions around four years ago. The start was quite rough, considering he did just about everything with Sato. He would stumble over his words and he swore he sweat through three shirts with every lie.
He absolutely hated it.
This whole situation was something that has been going on for years. It all started when he was taken by Sato's family. They knew far too much about him. To be precise, they knew more than even he knew.
When Shanks managed to save him and Sato he didn't know what to think anymore. His whole ideals were shaken.
No longer were the marines good guys. They couldn't be after what he went through and understood.
Most people were not good. If given the opportunity, they will harm you.
The government is completely and utterly corrupt. Perhaps that was something Sayomi had tried to mention, but she hadn't gone far enough to want to corrupt his mind.
Perhaps most importantly, he did not want to be a marine anymore. He wanted to fix everything wrong with the government, but he knew no marine would be able to do that. Though Sayomi had always encouraged his dream of being a marine, her statement always being along the lines of him being one the the best good ones, he couldn't do it anymore. To do what he think needs to be done, he needed to become a pirate.
Makoto, as much as he hated to admit it, was somewhat grateful towards Sato's family. Though it was torture, he did gain a large amount of his gun skills from them. That gave him the opportunity to stand next to Sato. It gave him some form of power which he did not have before. Finally he didn't need to be the one hiding behind Sato and Mitsu, though at that time Mitsu wasn't with them.
Then, he ate a devil fruit. Whether intentional or not, Makoto still can't tell. Either way, he managed to hit the jackpot on devil fruits. It allowed him to teleport. It was perfect for both Makoto and Sato, as they always tended to get into trouble as soon as Shanks took his eyes off of them.
The hiding started after Makoto and Sato got themselves into some deep trouble. It was the first time they sank a Celestial Dragon's ship. Makoto was fifteen, Sato fourteen. Makoto did not mean to teleport the two of them on a Celestial Dragon's ship, however he had the sniffles and when he doesn't feel at 100% he tends to get things jumbled up.
When they popped in there, at first nothing happened. Nobody seemed to care much until the Celestial Dragon caught sight of Sato. The lady screeched for the slave collar, claiming he had gotten free of it. In the end, both Makoto and Sato had to take action. When they attacked, Makoto had discovered he could shoot bullets and teleport said bullets to have perfect accuracy, though his accuracy was already perfect as is. It allowed nothing to interfere.
When they sank the ship, they found at least ten slaves on there. Two of which were devil fruit users. Sato had thought ahead and saved to row boats before they completely sunk the ship. If it had not been for a passing by ship, Makoto wasn't sure what would have happened.
The ship took them in and brought them to land. Sato had been busy talking with the former slaves and a few of the other people on the ship and had not seen Makoto busy talking with the person in charge.
They had taken note of Makoto's Devil Fruit. That was when they brought up another fact that Makoto had never though of before. His devil fruit was perfect for information gathering. They offered him a spot with them, which he refused at that time. Not much was said about it after that, and they dropped the brother off at an island where Shanks would meet them.
Weeks passed before Makoto left by himself. He met back up with the pirate that had talked to him before. There was a deal that he made, which included him scratching their back and they scratched his. They were a group that be believed would end up being perfect for him.
They help him find Mitsu and information on his parents, he helps them gather other information in sticky situations.
It was an easy deal, up until they told him he is not allowed to share of his involvement with them. He was to be their trump card, which nobody is to know about. Not even Sato, who he shared everything with.
He agreed then, but he didn't realize how hard it would be to keep this from his brother.
Especially now. The last call from them made Sato suspicious, Makoto knew that much. They were calling him in more often now.
Shanks didn't pry much into Makoto's business, though he has expressed concern. He did made Makoto at least swear that he would call him if he was ever in immediate danger. Other than that, Shanks trusted Makoto to be an adult.
Sato, on the other hand, has grown restless with the lack of information. He didn't blame his brother, as he also hated keeping the information from Sato. However, it also made him restless as he knows how the twins tend to act when impatient.
Out of the twins, Sato is far more patient than Mitsu but only for so long. When Makoto left he could see the patience wearing thin on Sato. It was only a matter of time before he either demanded answers or sought out answers by himself.
"Makoto, did you make it?"
He blinked, snapping out of his thoughts and looking up. The snail rested in his hand, looking impatient as it stared at him.
"Yeah." He answered sniffing and frowning. "Hey, I think you may be getting me sick."
"Don't be ridiculous. Now, get into disguise and make sure everything is how it should be. Plus, there might just happen to be some information you want."
Makoto rolled his eyes, hanging up the snail before setting it down. He opened the bag before closing it, looking up at the sky in disdain and reopening it. There was no doubt in his mind, this was given intentionally. He was being mocked.
Was this pay back?

End of Chapter 74
So... you got to see a lot from Makoto. I'm sure this is enough for you to all piece everything together, though I would love to hear your theories. I can't say for sure, but it looks like you'll have to wait a while to get more information on Makoto though I'm sure ya'll got most of this figured out.
On another note, yes it is a small chapter. However, the next one I will make longer. I have not decided fully yet if I want to really write fully through the next bit, as Katsu will really not have much involvement in that. Since her fight is over, and the rest of the fights are wrapping up the next big part, from what I remember, is basically Luffy destroying the ship and then the blood transfusion. For me it annoys me to reread something if the OC has no involvement, and I also don't want Katsu to have much involvement in that part because that is something that is super important to see. I feel like you guys wouldn't enjoy it much either if it's pretty much just rereading everything that happened....
This is not edited.
