Chapter 67: Some chamomile tea helps
I don't own One Piece

3rd POV

Everyone had noticed the anger in Katsu's voice and movement, her movement more abrupt and her steps slightly louder then normal. Though no one knew what had set her off for sure. When she walked away, nobody made a move to stop her.
However Sanji had heard the pain in Katsu's voice. He knew when a woman's heart was hurting, and he was certain this was one of those times. The cause wasn't straight-forward, but it only took Sanji a few moments to piece together that it was something from her past. He wasn't surprised with that either, considering she had regained some memories which were bound to cause pain. Considering the situation, Sanji figured it was most likely something to do with Katsu's mother.
As a gentleman he knew he had to do something. Though Sanji knew Katsu enjoyed her own space and likely wouldn't enjoy being bothered much at the moment. Which lead him to the decision to make her orange chamomile tea.
It suited her preferred flavors, and has a nice soothing effect. Plus, he could just leave it on her desk without having to bother her.
"Excuse me, but who exactly is that girl?" Jimbei asked, looking off to where Katsu had disappeared to. While she clearly didn't like him, he had a feeling it wasn't because he was a fishman though he wasn't completely positive. "She really doesn't seem to like me."
"Eh, Katsu?" Luffy blinked at Jimbei. "What makes you think she doesn't like you? She likes everyone."
The crew stared at their captain before sighing. He was a helpless case.
Sanji shook his head and looked over at the fishman. The man was clearly confused, as was the chef. "Honestly, it isn't like Katsu to just not like someone for no reason. Though she's quick to form an opinion. she won't straight up hate someone like that." Sanji sighed, tapping out a few cigarettes. Lighting up one he turned and strolled towards the ship, he needed to start on the tea.
Chopper nodded in agreement, wanting to defend the crew's artist. "The only people I've seen her straight out dislike from the start are other doctors or marines, but that's not it. It must be something from her past. We won't be of much help though, since we're all in the dark about it. But I'm sure she'll come around to liking you soon!"
It wasn't necessary that Jimbei wanted to be liked by Katsu. It did bother and confuse him that she was so cold to him personally. While at first it could be written off that she just dosen't like fishmen, after seeing how she reacted towards Shirahoshi Jimbei was left confused. It was as if he had done something already to get on her bad side.
The situation didn't help that she looked a lot like a friend of his. Though her hair didn't match, she had similar facial features.
A loud laugh from Luffy snapped Jimbei to attention, his eyes going to the rubber boy. "Don't worry! I'm sure Katsu likes you!"
Franky shook his head at Luffy before looking at Jimbei. He had a good feeling he knew the issue, as Mamoru had made a comment to him before about warlords.
"Don't take it personal." Franky said, gaining Jimbei's attention. "The man that raised her didn't like warlords if I remember correctly. I'm sure he just rubbed off on her."
The fishman blinked in surprise. Part of him still couldn't shake the idea that she just doesn't like fishmen. It wouldn't exactly be something new to him if that were indeed the case. Perhaps Franky was right, and it was only because he was a former warlord. Though even that left him unsure of how to go about things.

Katsu really appreciated Franky's private room invention. Her social meter was running low, so this space to herself helped her to recharge. It also gave the artist plenty of privacy to call her brother.
"You made it to Fishman Island?" Relief coated Sato's voice which had grown deeper through the years and had a natural rasp. Katsu was quick to notice how silent it was on his end. She had grown used to hearing loud chants and laughing on the other end, as well as her Uncle stealing the snail.
"Yeah," Katsu muttered, her eyes squeezing shut for a moment as another image of her cold mother came into view. Her jaw clenched and she forced herself to think of the present. "Is Uncle with you?"
The snail narrowed it's eyes. Sato knew that tone in Katsu's voice. He had been around his twin enough to pick up a few things. Her memories were messing with her again.
"No, I'm basically on my own right now." He said, figuring a distraction was best until she was ready to mention it. "Makoto wanted to meet up at some island, he said he might need me for something."
This time it was Katsu that narrowed her eyes. The tone was off, he was lying. However, she found that she couldn't quite focus on the lie at the moment.
"You're alone right now?" The idea of Sato being alone stirred a panic in her. Her muddled memories stirring and making her sick. It was almost like she was a child again and they had just discovered her mother was dead and her brothers had been taken. "Are you okay? Is Makoto okay? What about-"
"Mitsu." Sato's voice was soothing, calm, making Katsu stop. "I'm okay. Makoto is okay. You're okay. You're with your crew on Fishman Island, we're not back home." He waited a moment, listening to the breathing slowly calm down, then added. "Don't worry so much about me and Makoto. You did enough of that when we were kids. We're big and strong now."
Katsu sat silently, her lips pulled together as her eyes were in a focused daze. Her silence unsettled her twin, who was starting to think of the worst.
Sato cleared his throat, "Ah, Mitsu, you didn't already cause trouble at Fishman Island, did you? You guys should be careful, if I'm correct it's part of-"
"Sato." While her voice was quiet, it instantly shut up Sato. "Do you... was Ka-san buried?"
This time it was Sato that stayed silent. The question had taken him by surprise. It wasn't something she had mentioned before, but none of them have. Neither of the siblings, nor their Uncle had actually really talked about Sayomi's passing.
"Ah, Uncle said he set her out to sea when he came to retrieve us. You apparently weren't in the best condition so he didn't have you watch it." Sato answered quietly as Katsu had asked it. "They have a memorial there. Uncle paid for it. After he got me and Makoto back, and around a year after we still couldn't fine you, we went back so he could place it down. He refused to get one for you because he said you couldn't be dead."
Katsu nodded quietly, then after a moment, "Have you gone to visit her?"
"Every year on her and Uncle's birthday." Sato answered, "Makoto joins as well, and sometimes our father. We pay our respects, and bring sake and flowers." He trained off before speaking again. "Next time you should come with us. Your crew is welcome as well. I bet Ka-san would love to hear everything about you, and your crew."
"Ah," Katsu muttered, remembering how they had to leave a few times during her two year training. She understood why they didn't say anything. They didn't know what the extent of her memory was, and they didn't want to push her.
A soft click of a door made Katsu's ear twitch. When she turned to see who it was, all she saw was a cup of tea placed by the open door with a note. Standing to retrieve it, Katsu instantly recognized Sanji's handwriting, though the hearts were a dead giveaway as well.
'Orange chamomile tea to help sooth you, Katsu-chan- Sanji' a little heart was placed next to his name.
Instantly a small smile tugged at her lips and she took a small sip. With the hot tea filling her mouth she felt her tense shoulders relax just the slightest. The taste alone seemed to help unwind her.
"Ah, Mitsu." Looking away from the tea, Katsu hummed to her brother. "I think Makoto's found some information he isn't sharing with us."
The female paused, her eyebrows pulling together in confusion. "Huh? What makes you think that? And like what?"
"He's been acting weird. Those calls he gets are more often." There was a guilty tone in Sato's voice. "I overheard a few things on his last call. I think it might be one of the things I'm going to be helping him with, but I'm not sure yet."
"He's our brother." Katsu shook her head, "I doubt he's keeping something super important."
"Yeah. I'm just worried. Ever since he got that devil fruit and started searching for you he's been secretive. This last call mentioned something about his family."
Katsu frowned, not liking what she was hearing. "Either they were talking about us and blackmailing him, or they found some kind of secret on Makoto's dead birth family."
"That's what I'm going to find out."

End of Chapter 67!
There will be some interaction with Katsu and Jimbei in the next chapter, but don't expect them to be friends quickly! I've laid out a couple more clues for Makoto, any ideas on what he's doing or who he's working with?
Also, if you guys are interested, I do have another fanfic out. It's a crossover, featuring Katsu, and My Hero Academia. If you're interested it's called Pirates Playing Heros!
This is not edited.
