I missed this.

My loud crew. Usopp and Chopper crying in fear of our Captains actions. My Captain making stupid and rash decisions.

It appears Luffy's decision making is the same. However the most unsettling part is that I'm not even unnerved by it anymore. That clearly can't be good.

"Let's tame that octopus and get it to pull our ship!" Luffy grinned.

"You're crazy!" Usopp and Chopper cried.

The sniper gripped Luffy's face and forced him to really look at the giant octopus. Tears and snot dripping from his terrified face. "Take a good look! But you don't even need a good look! It's gigantic!"

"It must be hundreds of years old! The Kraken is a monster that appears in countless legends!" Chopper cried.

I looked up from my sketchbook and poked my cheek with my pencil. "Actually, if Luffy could tame it, then that would be a great feat. Ohh, maybe we would become part of the legends, maybe as being more monstrous than the Kraken!"

Zoro looked at me, seeing as I was now grinning at the thought. "Don't encourage him." I responded by blowing a raspberry to the swordsman.

"Katsu! Your drawing have gotten super better!" Franky grinned looking over my shoulder at my sketch book. Then he looked at Robin, who also was sketching beside me because she thought it would be fun. "Hey, that's pretty good too."

Robin smiled, "You don't get to see this everyday, though Katsu's is better. Which is to be expected from a famous artist."

"You're sketching it?! Isn't there something else you should be doing right now?!" Chopper demanded, looking between Robin and I.

I blinked at the doctor. "What do you think I'm here for?"

Zoro snorted before looking towards Luffy. "You two sketch all you want. Do you have a plan, Luffy?"

I grinned, stepping onto the railing before crossing my legs and sitting down. Placing my sketchbook on my lap I continued to draw. Whatever Luffy did, I would have a front row seat.

"The trouble is, we're in the middle of the ocean." Luffy answered, resting his hand on his chin in thought. Usopp quickly rushed over to start mumbling to Luffy, likely trying to convince him to turn around.

"Turn the wheel and head south!" Nami ordered.

I glanced at the navigator and pouted, puffing my cheeks out. Luffy taming the Kracken sounded fun.

"Hey, Nami!" Luffy yelled, glaring at the navigator. "Head for that octopus!"

"Don't be stupid!" Nami argued, "Can't you see all the wrecked ships it's holding? You want to end up like that?"

I blinked, tapping my cheek in thought. Wasn't there a way for us to fight it without getting the ship near it?

"Yeah, Nami. I'm with-" SPLURT, I blinked as blood started to squirt out of Sanji's nose before he stopped it. "you!"

"He held it in! Good job, Sanji!" Usopp praised.

My ear twitched, drawing my attention to the sound. Upon looking I could see a ship approaching us. Holding up a hand I pointed towards the ship. "Ah, something's coming."

Usopp snapped his attention to the direction behind us, his eyes bugging out. "It's the ship from earlier!"

A smile tugged at my lips. Apparently I had missed Usopp's reactions as well.

"You came to rescue me?!" I looked towards the tied up pirate.

Shrugging I looked back to the approaching ship. Only to see the octopus swipe down and snatch the ship effortlessly. The coating popped and the ship snapped in half as everyone floated upwards, a large air bubble rising along with them.

"It crushed a ship even bigger than Sunny!" Usopp wailed, tugging at his hat.

"They look like a jellyfish." Zoro muttered, admiring the look of it.

I nodded in agreement, smiling at it as I began to sketch the look of them. "Ah, I wonder if we would look like jellyfish too?"

"Shut your traps, Zoro, Katsu!" The extra bellowed, taking me by surprise as he knew our names.

"It's coming this way!"

I snapped my attention to the octopus, my hands going for my fans. Hands wrapped around me, keeping me in place on the railing.

"Stop!! You'll pop the bubble if you attack at the same time!" Usopp demanded behind me, though I'm sure he was talking to Luffy and Zoro. "Dodge it! Chicken voyage!"

I frowned at the name. Chicken voyage? "I don't wanna go down with that name." Couldn't he have come up with something better?

An idea hit my head, remembering Rayleigh's lessons when I was younger about the ship coating. "Ah, guys." I raised my hand. "How about we send us to the octopus? Instead of the ship. We can't run away, and it should work."

My crew blinked, looking at me. "How?"

Once again I was left pouting. It was my idea, but I'm being left out. Instead, I'm seated on the rail waiting for the monster trio to set out in their bubble diving suits.

"Stop pouting, Katsu." Zoro snorted, his foot on the ledge. "You gotta stay here to defend the ship."

"Draw me!" Luffy demanded before tossing the rope I had tied around his waist. "The rope is in the way!"

"Dumbass." I sighed as all three jumped out.

"You guys buy me some time! I'm gonna hit it with something huge!" Luffy demanded.

"I'll defeat it while we're waiting for you then." Zoro answered simply.

"No! You'll just cut it up!" Luffy half whined and half ordered. "We're keeping that octopus as a pet!"

I'm more of a cat person, but who am I to complain?

I'll just find a giant cat on one of the future islands and I'm sure I can convince Luffy to help me tame it so we can keep it as a pet. The crew can't refuse if it's cute.

I glanced as the octopus as it swat at us. Franky was quick to block it with a rocket launcher. However, I already felt the next tentacle coming in out direction.

"Yes! Franky!" Usopp cheered.

Looking up, I held out my hand and clenched it into a fist. The air around the bubble hardened into a solid mass. Only letting us feel a soft shake from the hit.

"She blocked it!" Usopp yelled happily again.

"It's coming again." I said, this time Chopper jumping in.

My eyes turned to stars as he expanded into a giant puffball. "So fluffy!" I cried, itching to touch his fur.

"Good job!"

"That was amazing, Chopper!" Nami cheered.

"We're going to hit a seamount!" Brook yelled, drawing our attention to the other side of the ship.

Luckily Robin stepped in.

"Mil Fleurs!" My eyes grew wide as I saw giant hands sprout from the ship and catch us. "Gigantesco Manto!"

I sat up straighter, grinning at Robin. "Ah, that's really cool!"

She smiled at me, the giant hands disappearing. "Thank you, Katsu."

"...Elephant gun!" I looked back to Luffy.

When I looked back I only got to see Luffy's fist huge and blackened for a second before the octopus was knocked out. I couldn't stop the smile that formed. Clearly he put his time off to good use, as had the rest of the crew.

Perhaps we really are ready for the New World.

"He knocked it out!!" Usopp yelled, his jaw dropping.

"How much stronger did he get?!" Nami demanded at the same time as Usopp.

Turning to another page, I quickly laid out the base for the sketch I would finish later. The monster trio in front of the octopus. Luffy's arms stretched out behind him, towards me, blown up and covered in haki. Unfortunately I had missed Zoro and Sanji's attack so I'll have to draw them another time.

Robin stepped closer to the railing in panic, "They've been sucked into the down welling current!" I snapped my head up to see that the octopus and the monster trio were not there anymore.

"This is bad!" Usopp yelled, pointing towards the direction the trio was pulled in. "We have to go after them!"

Not too long after Usopp's demand was the ship pulled down the current as well. Luckily I caught myself before I fell off the railing. With a tight grip, I swung myself back onto the deck and quickly sent out my arm to catch Chopper, who was airborne.

"Gotcha," I grinned, the doctor clinging to my arm as he shrilled in terror. "Calm down, Nami's here. We're good as long as we have our navigator."

It was true. I didn't have to fear since I knew Nami would guide us in the correct direction. Just like I'm sure we'd meet back up with the trio sooner or later.

This chapter was kinda iffy to me, but even in the manga there wasn't much that had happened. I believe it'll start picking up after the next two chapters.

Until then thought I finished a little picture of Yume, Katsu's adoptive mother figure. And as I mentioned last time, I welcome any and all fanart! 😁
