Chapter 4- Monkey D Luffy One Damn Persistant Pirate

I do not own One Piece

.....................

My dagger and throwing knives rested at my hip. The sword I normally kept on me had been left at the bar. Hopefully Mamoru will sharpen it for me, though if I was being honest I knew he wouldn't.

While there was still a dull ache in my hand and arm, it was tolerable. I had gotten lucky enough to not injure my drawing hand.

A freshly sharpened pencil stuck out of my sketchbook, which I intended to use until the light of day was gone and the tip was dull and unusable. I had plans to sketch today's events, as well as the two memories I had remembered today.

Even if they were only a few seconds long, they were my memories. I wanted to make sure I didn't lose them again. This was the first time I had received two memories in one day. There had only been one other occasion where I had remembered something. All that involved was a faceless red haired woman, which had filled me with a sense of grieve as well as a sense of longing. I still don't know anything about that woman. The image still lingered in one of my sketchbooks, but her face was still empty. Hopefully I can go back and fill in her face.

Approaching my spot, I tucked my legs under me and rested my sketchbook on my lap. My spot was the same place Mamoru had caught me earlier. It was probably the only place I could get to without getting lost. It had a great view of the docks, as it was a ledge located above the it.

Turning to a fresh page, I took a moment to picture the memory of the man from earlier. Placing my pencil on the paper I started to draw. For a while my pencil danced across the page. A soft breeze tussled the grass, sending my hair around in ribbons. A soothing sound filled my ears, keeping me as peace as I drew.

.......................

I was so engrossed in my drawing that when a new voice suddenly shouted I shrieked in fright. "Woah! That looks exactly like Shanks!"

My heart pounded in my chest as I stated at my picture with wide eyes and an open mouth. Then my head loved over to my side to glare at whoever scared at me. Looking up I practically pressed my nose against Luffy, who was grinning. While my face turned a shade of red, he was completely unfazed by out closeness.

My glare remained, "Don't sneak up on me."

A snort to my right interrupted me. Looking over, I noticed that Zoro had followed his captain. Zoro was the one who had snorted. "That idiot couldn't sneak up on a deaf person, you just had your guard down."

Huffing, I pulled the book to my chest. "Did Mamoru tell you where to find me or something?"

Luffy grinned, crossing his legs before sitting next to me. "Yeah! It was boring with him, so I decided to look for you!"

"Nami made me go with him," Zoro complained. "He tends to get in trouble."

"I see." I muttered, "Well I'm busy right now." I held up my sketchbook.

"Oh! Oh! Why are you drawing Shanks?" Luffy asked, from the corner of my eye I noticed Zorro sit down with his swords resting between his legs.

I paused, "So that's his name?" I muttered, looking back at the face. At least I could now place a name to the face.

Confusion settled in on both Zoro and Luffy. "What does that mean?" Zoro asked, "Obviously you drew him, so don't you know him?"

My face flushed with embarrassment. "I might know him, but I don't exactly remember." I paused, seeing both males still confused. I struggled, something about them- the straw hat crew- made me want to open up. Yet, this wasn't something I had shared with anyone. "I wasn't born on this island. As a matter of fact, up until I was nine, I don't have any memories. My first memory is waking up in bandages with a man watching me. He was a pirate, who I had assumed saved me from something or someone." I smiled, remembering the Emerald pirate. His pirate crew is the first picture I had drawn, and was safely kept with my other sketch books.

"So, you have no memories of who your parents are or anything?" Zoro asked.

I nodded, "Nope, no memories. There was one occasion where I got a flash of something, just like today. With those flashes I get an image and whatever I was feeling, either at the person or just at the time." I answered, "Today I actually got two little pieces of my memory. Which is what I'm currently working on sketching"

"I wonder how you knew Shanks." Luffy muttered.

....................................................................

It was day three of the straw hats being here. Luffy had somehow set it in his mind that I was part of his crew, and was taking it upon himself to jump at me at any opportunity shouting "Join my crew!"

I was tiring of his little game, he always managed to jump out of no where. Yet the energetic captain had yet to tire, hell he showed no signs of slowing down. He was persistent, I'll give him that. I have still declined every time, which he would shrug off without any insult or injury only to jump back at me a couple hours later and demand the same thing. If I was being completely honest, I don't know if I could last a whole week.

Chopper had taken off my bandages yesterday, saying how remarkable my recovery was. I didn't bother to tell him why, rather I complimented his doctor skills. The compliment was followed by a adorable little dance from the blushing reindeer.

"Katsu!" Mamoru shouted.

Blinking, my head shot up as I looked at him. "What?" I asked.

"Yumi's sick, you're up for watch." He jerked his head for the door.

I puffed out my cheeks, "Aw! I was gonna go with Franky today, he was going to go show me some of his work!" I complained, but proceeded in strapping on my weapons. "I bet she's just faking." I grumbled.

"Oi! Put on some shoes!" Mamoru shouted, an vein poking out on his forehead. This was one of our age old arguments, since I refused to wear shoes. It was an issue I had when I was younger, and it had grown with me through the years. Yumi had claimed it was only a faze, stopping Mamoru from getting on my case at first. However, it was soon realized that it was not a faze, and I had yet to actually tell them why I refused to wear shoes.

"Pass." I shrugged, "Besides, if you're going to complain about anything, it would be Franky not wearing pants." Swinging open the door, I walked out into the lively street. More pirates had docked today, which meant there was a bigger chance of a fight breaking out.

The pirates would glance at me every so often, only the new comers weren't showing an ounce of worry about me. They will be here for at least a week, and a fight was bound to break out. When one does, they won't be ignoring me for long.

"Oi, Katsu!" Just on time, Straw Hat came running towards me. "Join my crew!" He demanded.

I sighed, he must have an alarm to tell him when to ask. People paused to look over at us. Pirates raised their eyebrows as they seemed eager for my response. "Luffy, what was my answer two hours ago?"

"No." He grinned.

"Exactly," I said, "It's the same. No. And when you ask me again in two hours, the answer will still be no."

He paused, making me believe I had finally gotten it in his head. Then he grinned, "I'll ask you again later." He paused while I sighed, "What are you doing anyway?"

"I'm on patrol today. Gotta make sure no one acts up." I answered. Starting to walk again, I took note of how he was following me. "Aren't you going to run off now or something?" I asked.

He didn't answer my question, instead he asked me something. "Katsu, what's your dream?"

I blinked, taken by surprise of his question. "My dream?"

He nodded, "Yeah! Like mine is to be the Pirate King. Everyone has their own dream, what's yours?"

A small smile formed on my face. "I guess... to draw the world. I want to draw every detail I see, every wave, every face..." I laughed quietly, closing my eyes as if I could imagine it. "Along with that, I would like to regain my memories. To figure out who I was before I came here."

"You can't do that if you stay here." Luffy said, making my eyes open to look up at him. His serious moment only lasted for a moment before his childish side leaked through. "Ne, Katsu, let's go play a game." For a captain with such a high bounty, he sure was childish.

I will admit, I had grown fond of Luffy. And with each day that fondness only grew a little more. "Perhaps later, how about you go bug Mamoru?"

Then, he proceeded to look at me with a blank face while he shoved his pinky in his nose. "Eh. He kicked me out for the day. Is he really from the Pirate King's crew?"

My eye almost twitched, how could someone just outright pick their nose in public? I nodded to his question. "Yes. He was actually the navigator of the crew. I have no sense of direction, so everything he's tried to teach me with navigating never really stuck." I laughed lightly, now figuring out why Luffy was deciding to follow me for the day. Mamoru, though he was fond of Luffy, had finally had enough of him and set him on me.

"Katsu!" I turned towards the voice, realizing it was one of the ex-pirates. "There's a fight towards the port!"

Nodding I started running towards the port. "Katsu! It's the other direction!" I didn't miss the small snicker in the voice.

My face burned as I turned around sharply, barely avoiding running into Luffy. "I knew that! I was just warming up!" My ego shouted.

Luffy laughed, running beside me. "You're like Zoro!"

"What's that supposed to mean?!" I shouted, dodging pirates and ex-pirates.

"You really suck at directions!" He laughed, a giant grin on his face. "You don't even know how to get to the port!"

No doubt my face was the color of my hair now. It was embarrassing enough to get lost daily, but Luffy shouting about it only made it worse. "The streets here are really confusing!"

He tilted his head, "Eh? I thought there was really only this street, and one other main street."

That only increased my embarrassment, as he was correct. Luckily, our conversation was cut short. Loud arguing could be heard as we entered the port, our attention traveling to a large crowd that had formed.

"Luffy, stay here. I'll handle this dispute." I ordered.

"Why?" He whined, wanting to jump into the fight as well.

"If you start fighting, you'll be in trouble as well. Zoro and Sanji didn't get in trouble because they only jumped in at the right moment. Any moment sooner, and I would have had to settle things between them as well." Not to mention I was distracted with Jiro at that moment.

Waking away from Luffy, I quickly approached the fighting pirates. Making my way to the center of the circle, I ruffly pushed the two pirates apart.

"Oi! There's a no fighting rule here!" I growled.

One of the pirates glared at me, typically the pirates who start fights as the captains. So I'm assuming both of these men were captains. "Don't get between our fight! We need to settle this!"

When they tried to shove me aside, I shoved harder on their chest. The stumbled back a few steps. "I said no fighting." I ordered, glaring at the two of them.

"Look shortie, if you don't want to get hurt, you should move. We're both pirates with over a million beli bounty." The man to my right said. His weapon of choice wasn't in sight, so I assume it was either a devil fruit or he enjoyed hand to hand combat. His short blonde hair helped his violet eyes pop. I wasn't going to lie, his eyes were quite pretty. I would enjoy punching them, no man needs eyes as pretty as that.

Overall, he wasn't the ugliest guy around. Though, I didn't like his height, I never liked tall people. The other pirate, though tall as well, had features opposite of the blonde. His hair was long and black, which was messily unkept, and hard red eyes.

"I should tell you, if you two don't stop your fight I will be forced to harm you." I warned.

Blondie snorted, amused as well as his crew at me. "Oh really now?"

"I don't even need to worry about your bounty. That doesn't matter here." I smirked, something tells me that if I was to get injured a certain Strawhat wearing boy would jump in. "Now, if you wish to stay here, then please walk in opposite directions."

"Yeah right! I'm not stopping until that guy's dead!" The black haired man growled, pointing s pistol at my head. "I'll just have to go though you first."

My eyes narrowed as I flipped my daggers out of my belt. Then, with a twist of my body, I slid my dagger across his pistol. From a trick I had learned from a passing pirate, I managed to slice his gun in half.

Then I raised my dagger to his face, which had turned a shade of white. "Do I need to repeat myself? You don't want to make me an enemy, since you're stuck here until your log pose sets."

Seeing their fight die down, I kept my ground. "When you leave this island, you may resume your fight." I finished. With clenched teeth and white faces, they obeyed my command and walked in opposite directions. Their crew following after them.

"Where'd you learn to cut guns in half?" Luffy asked, his pinky shoved deeply in his nose. Does he always pick his nose?

"Just a passing pirate." I explained.

"Shishishi, I see!" He grinned.

"How about we head back to the bar, Luffy?" I smiled. "Mamoru should have started cooking dinner, and the sun is starting to set."

"Food!" Luffy cheered, pausing to look at me. "Ah, Katsu! Join my crew!"

A sigh escaped me, "Once again, no." He shrugged it off, then started running towards the bar. He had the actions and energy of a child, I wondered how his crew dealt with him.

....................................

End of Chapter 4! So not much happened in this chapter, but I want you guys to get a chance to know Katsu and what she does. After they leave this island I will add in another little island, just to give Katsu a chance to bond a little with the strawhats before they continue their journey. There was another little clue from Katsu's past that I added into this chapter. I wonder if any of you have pieced together anything from that yet.

And before any of you ask, I will not be making a big deal about pairing Katsu with anyone. If any romance happens it will be way later on, as I find it tends to disrupt some things. However that doesn't mean you can't understand certain parings cute, I may add in some fluff here and there. Just don't expect any kind of romantic feelings to form quickly.

This is not edited.
