Chapter 11: I Fight For My Nakama!

I don't own One Piece

Any swoon from the man was gone. The hearts in his eyes were replaced with a look of determination. Was it bad that I found myself excited to crush his determination? Preferably with my fist.

I pulled my knifes closer to me, I wanted to avoid making the first move. Not with this guy at least. He eyes my bandaged arm, where my brand was.

"I remember thinking you were injured," He mused. "Now I think there's something you don't want people seeing."

I rolled my eyes, brushing off the comment. "Like that matters." I smirked, "I see, you're stalling. Afraid I'll beat your ass again?"

His eye twitched in annoyance. Then he stomped his foot angrily and pointed at me. "Like I'd be afraid of you! You just joined a pirate crew, and you don't even have a bounty! You're fresh meat! Non-experienced!"

I tapped my chin, "Remind me again, how big is your bounty?"

He poked his chest out, apparently proud of however high it was. "It's 50 million beli. Captain's is 150 million beli."

The laugh escaped my lips before I could stop it. My hand quickly went to my mouth as I tried to contain my laughter, which almost brought tears to my eyes. Anger fumed in Daichi's face, apparently not pleased with my laughter.

Pretending to wipe a tear from my eye, I took a deep breath to calm down. "While I may not have a bounty, my whole crew does. You're small fry to them."

His eyes narrowed, "Really now?"

"Out of the pirates I've seen, they're the most promising. Which is why I joined them." I smiled proudly. "Now, even without a bounty, I'm going to stand and fight. Because, I fight for my nakama. And I have a crew name to uphold." I pointed one of my knives at him. "You're about to be beat by a Strawhat."

Seeing as Daichi wasn't going to move, I attacked first. My lack of patience wasn't the best in fights. Controlling the air, I send out two knives. The blades rode the air current smoothly, aimed for his stomach.

Just before it could hit him, Daichi grabbed the blades. I blinked, waiting for blood to fall to the floor. However, it appeared Daichi had managed to grab the blades without cutting himself.

"Whoa," I whispered, quickly catching myself before I could compliment him. That would do me no good in a fight.

He smirked at me, "There's something I learned in our last fight, Miss Devil Fruit user. While you tried to hide it, you're able to control the air. Which explained why none of my knives would hit you."

For the second time today, I rolled my eyes. "Well, aren't you observant. Maybe you're smarter than I thought?"

From the corner of my eye, I saw slight movement from a certain navigator. I kept my eyes on Daichi, Nami was starting to wake up. Perhaps the cat burglar could escape with a little distraction.

Daichi ignored my comment. "I noticed how you avoid close contact." His smirk grew, as if he had figured out my weakness.

I remember why I had avoided a close contact fight. From a earlier sword fight about a week or two earlier I was injured. Yumi, as motherly as ever, had put a temperately ban on close contact fighting. She would have banned it all together if it wasn't for Mamoru.

While I wanted to make some witty comment, I knew I could use this to my advantage. For a quick win. I would let him get a good swipe in, then surprise him and take him down. Only downside, I didn't actually bring a sword with me. Perhaps getting a cheap injury was a slight downside too? However, I did have my throwing knives and two daggers with me.

He pulled a sword from his waist. Honestly, this man was no swordsman, even if he had managed to learn a tip or two from his friend. He uses knives and light weight daggers, which are best for throwing. From the strong tension he was putting his arms through, I could see that sword was far heavier than he could handle. He didn't have the strength, or knowledge, needed to really handle a sword. Not like I did, Mamoru made sure to train me for multiple weapon usage.

Behind Daichi, I saw Nami sit up. Her eyes were wide as they landed on me, yet no sound left her. I suppose her skills of sneaking weren't needed.

"Now then, Katsu." Daichi smirked, slashing his sword in the air. "Let's have a quick fight."

Then he charged at me. Like most knife throwers he was fast on his feet. However, I was fast as well. Quickly pulling out my dagger, I brought my arms up to block his attack. A loud crash sounded through the room as his sword met my dagger.

Like I had assumed, he lacked in strength needed to actually last in a sword fight. I just needed to pretend to struggle for a moment, and let him get cocky. Then I could surprise him and take him down with one good hit. I couldn't help but glance at Nami, who looked torn. She had obviously wanted to run, but something was keeping her here.

I let his strength overwhelm me, which made me stagger back from him. Nami caught my eye, then finally moved. Her hands were tied, but luckily Daichi wasn't the brightest and forgot to tie her legs. Though, much to my confusion, she wasn't running for the exit.

Daichi slashed at me again, which I avoided. I pretended to stumble a step, needing to boost his confidence. He bellowed with laughter, relaxing his stance slightly. "Sure is a shame I'm better at swordplay, isn't it? Your wind can't help you here."

Nami stood beside a large painting, which she started to move. Before I could wonder what she was doing, I saw a large safe hidden behind the painting. I had to stop myself from sighing in annoyance as she tried to break into the safe. For a moment, I thought she may have been concerned for my safety.

I looked at Daichi. "Yeah, my devil fruit power really is no help at swordplay. I really sucks that you figured that out." My voice was flat, much to my annoyance. Mamoru always said I was the worse actress, but I think I'm doing pretty damn well.

Annoyance set in his eyes, her spar hand edging towards his daggers. My attention went back to his sword, which raised to swipe at me again.

When I blocked the sword, I realized the knife had left his hand. For a moment, I waited for pain, then my attention was brought onto Nami. A pained scream entered the room, signaling three things.

The first was that Nami had her voice back, which meant that Luffy had won his battle with the captain. The second was that my navigator was injured. The third, I was completely pissed.

"Nami!" I shouted, seeing blood run down her side.

Daichi frowned, stumbling back from my sudden push. He looked over at Nami. "You shouldn't have moved."

My anger flared, sending a roar of wind around us. Ribbons of crimson hair flew around wildly as I approached Daichi.  It appears I had waited too long, it was far overdue to end this battle.

Holding my arm beside me, I readied my dagger. When Daichi turned back to me, I was already moving.  Typically I have two blades, but one will have to do. Running at him, I ducked under his sword. Just when I was at his side I twisted my body in a circle, sending two deep long gashes in his stomach and side. Straightening my body I turned to look at Daichi.

Blood spilt out of him, sending him to the ground with a pained grunt. I glared down at him, noting how fast he went down.

"Pitiful." I muttered, "You've gotten weaker over the year, Daichi."

Stepping over him, I walked to Nami. With my rage settling down, so did the wind. My walk quickly turned into a run as I tried to get to her quickly, sliding on my knees I knelt down to her side. Her face was scrunched up in pain as she gripped her bleeding side.

"I'm sorry, Nami." I apologized, my hands hovering in the air by her wound. I didn't know what to do. I was a fighter and an artist. No knowledge of medical anything lingering in my mind.

Nami winced then smiled, "It's not your fault. It's not like you made the fight last that long, or let him know where I was going."

I forced a smile, "R-Right!" Next time, don't look at the person you don't want to bring attention to. Also, don't drag out a pointless fight.

Her smile faded, "Did you drag out the fight?"

"NO!" I quickly shouted, "Come on, lets get you to Chopper. I'll need directions on how to get there."
