Chapter 2 - Interview Day

Alizeh POV

It still feels surreal that I've been selected in all the recent interviews I gave back-to-back. And now, finally, I've decided to join a well-known firm that's recognized all over the country.

After my last interview, I was on my way home. While waiting for my cab, I stopped at a familiar café for a coffee, sitting alone with my thoughts. Just as I was sipping my coffee, I saw someone—someone I never thought I'd meet again in this lifetime.

My heartbeat picked up speed, and I tried to ignore the feeling that stirred within me. But there he was. He walked into the same café, scanning the place for a seat.

I instinctively tried to hide, pulling myself behind my coffee cup, hoping he wouldn't notice. But it was no use; he had already spotted me. His gaze was intense, as if he was making sure it was really me.

I felt his eyes on me, but I pretended not to notice. Instead, I pulled out my phone and called a friend, trying to appear busy. But I had to end the call abruptly because he had already approached my table, sitting down across from me with a big smile on his face.

"So, you're Alizeh, if I'm not mistaken?" he said with a grin.

"Yeah, I am." I knew exactly who he was, his likes, dislikes, all those little details. But I kept my expression neutral, pretending not to recognize him. After all, who could really forget their crush? I was no exception, but I wasn't about to let him know that.

"And you are...?" I asked, feigning confusion. "Sorry, I can't quite place you."

He laughed and shook his head. "It's me, idiot. Vikram Ahuja. Don't you remember me?" he said, flicking his fingers against my forehead like he used to back in school.

"Hey, you can't just do that, Mr. Corporate Majdoor!" I shot back, rubbing my forehead, unable to hide my smile.

"Oh, Madam remembers now?" he asked in a playful, sarcastic tone.

"Yes, I remember," I replied, rolling my eyes. "The one and only who dared to raise his hand to flick my forehead."

He chuckled, leaning back in his chair with that same boyish charm. And there we were, two people who thought their paths would never cross again, sitting in a café as if no time had passed at all.
