Cinnabar's Fiery Revolution

We left the gym and stopped in at the Pokémon Center to have my Pokémon restored. "Next stop, Cinnabar Island!" Daisy declared. "Then, we can swing through Pallet Town and stop in at home!" Maybe we'll run into Bill. I theorized.

I decided to send my mom a message letting her know I'd be visiting home soon. "Plus, I can finally get this fossil restored." Daisy mused, glancing at the amber sphere.

We set off for the south of Fuchsia City, arriving back at the port. A few ships were in the docks, though the S.S. Anne was nowhere to be seen. Sailors were hanging around, and a few trainers were scattered on the beach as well.

We stepped onto the docks and stopped when we saw a ship advertising transportation onto Cinnabar Island. Daisy cleared her throat. "Excuse me, sir. We were wondering if you could give us a ride to Cinnabar Island?"

The captain of the ship glanced at us. A large bird Pokémon flew down onto his head. It had a white and blew body, with a massive yellow beak. "I suppose I can, though travel to Cinnabar has been iffy lately."

Daisy raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"It's complicated, lass. The ports are all closed, and it seems like it's become a ghost town." The man explained.

I frowned. What does that mean? Did something happen there? Daisy seemed to be thinking the same thing. "We'll make do, we have a friend on Cinnabar and it's really important that we go there." The Captain seemed unsure, but I held up my badge case to show we were capable trainers.

He relented and allowed us onto the ship. The boat pulled out of the docks, and we began to fly across the water. Feeling the wind on my face was great, but I had to tightly clutch my cap so it didn't fall off.

"This is awesome!" Daisy whooped, standing at the front of the boat to get the full force of the wind. Her green eyes were full of excitement, and I couldn't help but stare at her. It was odd, but Daisy meant a lot to me.

Seeing her happy made me happy. After all, she was my best friend. The only person besides my mom who had bothered to learn sign language so she could effectively understand me. There was something about that which I appreciated. I was lost in my thoughts until I heard the captain laugh.

I jumped and turned to him, he was standing next to me instead of piloting the ship. "Looks like you fancy the lass. That's adorable, kiddo." I felt my face get hot as he talked. I started to shake my head but he put up a hand.

"Don't worry about it, kid. Just something to think about. Now I should probably get back to piloting the boat!" My eyes widened and he started to laugh again.

"I'm just yanking your chain! Pelipper is piloting it!" I was relieved until his Pelipper flew over and landed on the captain's shoulder. His eyes widened and he darted to the steering wheel. Daisy gave me a confused look.

I shrugged. He forgot to pilot the boat. After that Daisy decided to sit near the lifeboat for the rest of the trip.

As the island came into view I began to notice something was wrong. Smoke was coming up from the island, and I heard the sound of battling. The Captain's eyes widened. "What the hell's going on?"

Daisy and I looked at each other. "Team Rocket." I was thinking the same thing. "Sir, we think Cinnabar might be under attack by Team Rocket!"

"Team Rocket?" He exclaimed. "You kiddos, stay on the ship! I'm going to handle this! Those fiends sunk my friend's ship."

The boat slowed to a stop and coasted into the docks. The captain jumped off of his ship with Pelipper flying behind him. We jumped off of the ship not long after and ran onto the island.

Our suspicions were confirmed when two rocket grunts ran up to us, they sent out a Raticate and Golbat. Daisy sent out Tyrogue and I called out Pikachu.

"Oh great, it's these kids again! " The one grunt exclaimed. These must be the ones we keep running into! I realized. "Raticate, use Super Fang!" Raticate charged at Tyrogue, biting down on his arm.

Daisy rolled her eyes. "Will you just get lost? Tyorgue, use Counter!" Daisy's Pokémon surged with red energy and he slammed his fist into the opposing Pokémon's gut. The move blew back the Raticate and caused it to stagger.

The other grunt clenched his jaw. "Golbat, smack 'em with Wing Attack!" His Golbat dove down at Pikachu and swung its wings. Wild Charge! Then finish them with Thunderbolt! Pikachu exploded with electric energy and jumped into Golbat, bowing it back. Then, he fired a massive bolt of electricity into the two Pokémon.

They fell unconscious, and the grunts quickly returned their Pokémon and then ran off.

Daisy brushed her hands together. "Well, guess we've gotten a bit too strong for them. Let's see if we can find anyone!"

This island was covered in smoke, and we had to forage into the dark smog to be able to move through the unfamiliar city. As we wandered around, tears started to sting my eyes.

"Clefairy use Meteor Mash! Dragonair use Dragon Pulse!" I heard a familiar voice cry out. Daisy looked at me and I took her hand, running over to the source of the shouting. We both were coughing as we charged forward, eventually getting through the smoke.

Bill turned to see us and grinned. "Oh wow! Well if it isn't my favorite duo! What are you doing here?"

"Well, Red beat the Fuchsia City Gym so we went here for our next gym battle." Daisy recapped to the boy.

Bill's face lit up. "How is Janine? Is her dad still furious about uh... her and I?" Bill started to flush red. This was an odd time for a conversation like this.

Daisy gave him a blank stare. "She's good. Red actually took her on in the Gym Battle. And then we had to witness them resolve their family drama."

Bill's face formed a grin and he leaped into the air. "Alright! Maybe that means I can see her again! YIPPEE!" Bill cheered.

"So what's been happening here?" Daisy asked, clearly trying to change the subject to anything but Bill's love life.

"Well, when I got here the place was fine if not a bit shady. Then, suddenly, Team Rocket started to attack! They've been blocking communication outside the island for a while, and it was a stalemate up until recently when they finally broke into the gym. Now it's been all out war, and now we're here. I also might've set a few buildings on fire in my excitement." We stared at him. "Kidding!"

Daisy sighed. "You're a piece of work. We want to help, though. What's the plan?"

"Well, the smoke is the big issue. But you guys don't happen to have any flying or psychic types do you?" Bill asked. His Clefairy and Dragonair returned to him, both exhausted. He took out their Poké Balls and returned them.

Daisy paused, thinking. "Well, Venonat has Psybeam... Red, do you still have the TM that Sabrina gave you?" I nodded and took out my TM case, finding the specific disc and handing it to her. "Well, Venonat can probably learn Psychic!" She sent out her bug type and handed it the item. The Pokemon began to glow brightly and absorbed the disc.

Daisy threw an arm into the air. "Venonat use psychic to clear away the smoke!" Daisy's Pokemon's eyes began to glow blue and then the smoke funneled upwards and away. Leaving the multiple battles happening visible.

Grunts were surrounding the few regular people who were in battle. I grabbed all four of my Poké Balls and threw them into the air. My four Pokémon appeared on the battlefield and turned to me, waiting for directions.

Alright everyone, if anyone needs help against Team Rocket you help them out! I told them and they all ran off.

"Ok, let's find out which executive is orchestrating this attack," Daisy began to look around.

"I think Blaine went into the Pokémon Mansion, so let's go there," Bill informed us, and we all charged into the building.

The interior of the mansion was worn and old, lots of rocks seemed to have fallen from holes in the ceiling. The paint was peeling to reveal weak and molded wood.

We heard shouts coming from below and dashed through the mansion, weaving through hallways and blocked-off paths until we reached a flight of stairs leading down.

We went down the stairs to find the bottom floor mostly intact. There weren't any holes in the ceiling or rocks, and even the paint looked pretty fresh. It seemed like it had been recently renovated.

"You call yourself a Gym Leader, yet you cannot even defeat a poor criminal in battle. What a shame. I was hoping for more, especially since you gave all of my grunts so much trouble." A voice said from further down the hall.

Another voice rose up. "You may've beaten my exhausted team, but you're not going to get away with any of this!"

"Actually, I think I will. We already have all the information we need on Rogue Two. So lucky you, I will be taking my leave now." The first voice cackled. We ran into the room, which looked like some sort of laboratory.

The first person I saw was a man in white clothing, he had a very pristine look to him. He had short teal hair and cold teal eyes. His face was twisted into an eerie grin and he was looking at the other man.

The other man was much older. He was wearing a white hat with a red band across it. He had on sunglasses and a long mustache. He was wearing a red long-sleeved shirt and a white vest, along with brown pants and a cane with a large grip. Perfect for the seemingly elderly man. I had a feeling this was Blaine.

The older man shook his head. "Rogue Two? How do you know about it? That was top secret!"

"Your friend in Lavender Town was much more willing to chat. Now, we'll be able to control that fiend and awaken its true potential." The Rocket Admin laughed like a madman. What in the world are they talking about? I wondered.

"Hey, Rocket Dummy! Why don't you awaken some future prospects in your life!" Bill charged forward. I wished he hadn't drawn attention to us so they could continue talking about this Rogue Two.

The Rocket Admin glared at him, and his coy smile faded away. "If you think you can be a smart mouth to me, boy, then let me teach you a lesson!" He took a Poké Ball from his belt. "I am Archer, the elite Admin of Team Rocket!"

"A battle? Well then-" Bill paused. "Wait, my Pokemon aren't in the best condition. You guys are up."

Daisy sighed and shot Bill a look. I reached for my Poké Balls but I remembered I had let my Pokémon out to help out the citizens of Cinnabar. They weren't with me. I don't have any Pokémon! It's up to you, Daisy!

"For crying out loud!" Daisy groaned and sent out Venonat.

Archer narrowed his eyes. "Pathetic!" He sent out a Houndoom. The dog Pokemon snarled and bared its fangs. It had mostly black skin with two twisting horns on its head.

"Venonat use Bug Buzz!" Venonat fired a sound wave into Houndoom's face. The dog shook off the damage and readied itself.

"Use Fire Fang!" Houndoom pounced on Venonat and his mouth burst with fire. The Pokémon bit down on Venonat with a flaming bite, causing the bug to squeak in pain. Daisy winced and returned Venonat, sending Tyrogue back out.

Archer rolled his eyes. "This is disgraceful! First, you send out a Bug-Type and then this pathetic baby Pokémon. I'm getting bored!" Daisy clenched her fists. Her Pokémon looked at her and nodded.

"Tyrogue use Brick Break!" Tyrogue ran forward and leaped into the air, hitting Houndoom in the head with the chop. "Now use Low Sweep!" Tyrogue landed on the ground and swept his leg into the Houndoom.

"Houndoom use Flamethrower!" Houndoom opened his mouth, unleashing a spray of flames that slammed into Tyrogue. He was thrown back by the move and winced. Archer thrust his hand forward. "Again, Flamethrower!"

Daisy narrowed her eyes. "Tyrogue! You need to dodge!" Her Pokémon staggered back, evading the columns of fire that were sent flying toward him. "Now, run in and use Brick Break!" Daisy's fighter charged forward and chopped his arm into Houndoom's body.

Archer's eyes were beginning to shake now. "End this! Fire Fang!" His Pokémon lunged out, chomping down onto Tyrogue and holding him in place. "Flamethrower!" Fire exploded from the hound, crashing into Daisy's Pokémon.

Tyrogue fell over again. "Tyrogue! No!" Daisy shouted. "Come on! The Fighting Master believed in us! We've got to do this!" I could tell that Daisy was on the verge of tears. Every time we battled Team Rocket, she had never gotten to be the one to save the day. This was her big chance.

Tyrogue's eyes snapped open and he shot to his fight. The Pokémon started to glow as he was engulfed with light.

His head began to form one large singular spike and hair grew out on both sides of his head making it look like a top. A tail with a spike also grew from him and three spikes appeared on each of his feet. He then became more round in the face and body.

When the glow subsided he had brown on most of his body including his top-like head. His feet, the tip of his tail, and his chest were dark blue. I recognized this Pokémon as Hitmontop.

"Hitmontop! You look amazing!" Daisy praised, Hitmontop turned and smiled at her. "Now let's show him just how strong we are, use Revenge!" Hitmontop jumped onto his head and began spinning.

The Pokémon spun forward with blistering speed and rammed into Houndoom, knocking the hound Pokémon over. Archer gasped and his body started to shake. "Oh, so what? You beat one of my Pokémon! Do you think you're special? I have an entire team of Poké-"He was cut off by Bill hitting him over the head with a piece of wood.

Archer slumped over onto the ground, now unconscious. "Sorry. He was getting really annoying." Bill declared. I noticed a machine in the back of the room that had a large antenna on it. Maybe this is what's jamming the signal. I switched it off, and Blaine's face lit up.

"Wonderful!" Blaine put his hands together. "I'll be right back. I have some calls to make. Make sure he doesn't vanish!" Blaine hurried to the stairs, fumbling with some sort of device.

"Well looks like that's another one of these admins down. There's still the one from Celadon who escaped. Maybe more... and their mysterious leader." Daisy said, patting Hitmontop's head for his job well done.

Bill scratched his chin. "Yeah. I wonder what they were talking about with that whole Rogue Two thing. Word is, this is where Mewtwo was created before it escaped to Cerulean City where Yellow caught it."

"Well, the way they were talking about this Rogue Two, it sounds like it was another experiment." Daisy theorized. "Maybe they made another Pokémon."

"Whatever the case is, it must be powerful. Team Rocket wants it bad. They were talking about controlling it, right?" Bill confirmed. I have a bad feeling about this. Maybe that's what they wanted the Master Ball for... we ned to keep our eyes out for Team Rocket in the future so we can stop them.

Daisy considered this. "We don't know where they are, but if we get any leads, we'll stop them." The girl decided.

Blaine returned to the room at that moment. "Alright kids, the police are on the way! I'll take Archer off your hands!" Blaine informed us. I almost wanted to ask him about Rogue Two, but I decided that might not be the smartest decision.

We left the mansion and I was reunited with my Pokémon, who were all fortunately in good shape. I returned them and we went to the Pokémon Center. We had our Pokémon restored and went back outside.

For the first time, I was able to take in Cinnabar Island. The island was small, with a few waves gently lapping at the beaches. A few buildings decorated the island, mainly the Pokémon Gym and the Pokémon Lab. The entire island was built on a volcano, so there weren't many residents who weren't researchers.

Daisy pointed at the Pokémon Lab. "Let's go to the Pokemon Lab so I can finally restore this fossil."

Bill looked at her. "You have a fossil?"

"Yeah, I got it when we beat some rocket grunts in Mount Moon," Daisy recapped.

"Awesome! Let's go restore it now!" Bill practically dragged us into the lab and led us through the hallways. The boy took us to a man standing in front of a large machine. "They have a Pokémon Fossil!" He declared.

The scientist's eyes lit up. "Oh, let me see!" Daisy handed him the amber. "Ahh, this is beautiful! It's so preserved... I can restore it for you, yes!" He placed it into a machine.

A few minutes passed, and the machine seemed to come to a stop. The door opened, and a giant grey Pokémon was standing in the machine. The beast had wings and a massive maw and its body seemed to be made up of stone.

Daisy's eyes widened. "That's an... Aerodactyl!"

"It's awesome is what it is!" Bill exclaimed. "I've always wanted to get up close with one of these guys!" He leaned in at the Pokémon.

Daisy took out a Poké Ball and threw it at the beast. The Pokémon was sucked inside, and the ball made a ding sound a few moments later. The girl picked up the sphere.

We left the Pokémon Lab a few minutes later. "Guess we'll have to wait a bit before taking on the Cinnabar Gym," Daisy concluded.

Bill nodded. "They'll probably need a day to get everything sorted. So, tell me about how things have been since I left."

While they talked, I found myself looking at the eastern coast of Cinnabar. There was something magnetic about it, and I began to walk towards the coast.

If Bill and Daisy noticed I couldn't hear them. I couldn't focus on anything other than getting to that waterfront. As I stepped onto the coast I was suddenly blinded by light. It was as if my entire body was being rearranged and shifted. "What's going on?" I... asked?
