Chapter 37: Here it is, the Chunnin Exams, Part Six

Chapter 37:
Yakunan's POV

I was in a bright room -- making me squint my eyes -- that was slowly dimming. 'Where am I?' I thought vaguely. Soon the lights went away completely and I opened my eyes fully. Right in front of my face, just inches away, was Rei with a creepy smile on his face and crazy eyes.

"AH!!" I screamed, jumping back, but Rei grabbed the collar of my shirt. "R-Rei! What are you doing? Where are we? Rei?"

"SHUT UP DEMON!" Rei hissed, making me go silent. "You... You killed everyone! You killed them all right before my eyes! You... You killed my parents! I'm going to revenge my village! I'm going to kill you!!!" He struck his hand into my chest, making me gasp, and cough up blood.

He pulled his hand out, and when he did, a heart came out with it. It was red, bloody and beating loudly. My eyes slowly widened as I realized what had happened. And then I screamed then fainted.
*-*-*-*
I don't know what happened after that, but suddenly, Rei disappeared and my heart was -- hopefully -- back in my chest.

I fell down, grabbing my chest painfully. How had Rei done that? What just happened? Where's my team and Crimson and Pure? Where was Kakashi or anyone? I don't know what's going on anymore.

A barely audible 'hiss' sounded from somewhere in the room, and echoing throughout it. I froze, and my hiding jutsu undid.

The hissing noise got louder, and soon footsteps echoed through the room also. My hands shook in fear. The hissing noise stopped and a man appeared in my field of vision. Orochimaru.

"Orochi... Maru...?" I whispered quietly. He silently came up to me, and grabbed me by the hand, dragging me somewhere. I didn't react, I didn't do anything, I just silently waited for whatever he had for me.

He brought me to a room with a metal table, where Kabuto was too. There was a large water tank in the middle of the room, surrounded by other racks of chemicals and other stuff.

I gasped, realizing my situation and turned around to run, but Orochimaru caught me by my shoulders. "Chain the demon up," he ordered to Kabuto. Kabuto nodded, and got thick handcuffs off the table. I growled at him, and tried to run away, but he had already hooked my wrist up, behind my back

Once was detained, he smirked and pushed his glasses up. "Take the demon to the tank and wait for my mark," Orochimaru said.

"Of course, Orochimaru-sama," Kabuto said, and grabbed my arm roughly, and dragged me to the tank ladder. I growled at him and tried to bite his hands with my sharp teeth, but I couldn't reach his hand.

Once we got to the steps to the ladder, I refused to climb up. Kabuto pushed me, to get me to move, but I stayed still. He sighed and picked me up by the waist and carried me up the stairs.

"LET ME GO! PUT ME DOWN!!" I yelled flailing around in his arms, but he didn't listen. Once we got to the top, Kabuto placed a chain on my hands that was hooked up to some pulley thing.

He turned around for a second, and I took this chance to run away, but as soon as I took a step, Kabuto tripped me, making me fall flat on my face and unto the metal flooring.

I groaned and spat up the blood coming from my mouth. Kabuto put shackles around me feet before I could get up and made sure that I couldn't run again.

"The demon is unusually rebellious today," Kabuto noted. "I'll be sure that it gets a punishment later." He smirked, and a glare was casted on his wide rimmed glasses. I narrowed my eyes at the male and tried to move away, but once I tried, Kabuto grabbed me by the back of my shirt and picked me up.

"All's ready, Orochimaru-sama!" Kabuto called down to the snake.

"Okay, start the experiment," Orochimaru called back.

Kabuto dragged me to the edge of the tank, with me doing whatever I could to run away, with no avail, and pushed me in the deep tank.

The ice cold water hit my skin with a splash, making me shiver. I tried whatever I could to swim back up, but the chains were pulling me down to the bottom of the tank.

I quickly ran of air and began to panic. My fear of water quickly caught up to me as I thought, 'not the water not the water not the water not the water not the water not the water not the water...'

My throat was burning from lack of air and water clouded by vision completely, everything fade to black.
*-*-*-*
When I woke up I immediately screamed, and hugged my knees to my chest. "Not the water not the water not the water..." I muttered over and over again.

Footsteps ran into the room I was in, which I recognized as a hospital, and in came my team, minus Sakura, and Kakashi. "Ya-chan! You're awake, believe it!" Naruto called pulling me into a hug.

"What's going on...? What happened...? What do you mean 'I'm awake'?" I asked him, very confused.

Before Naruto could answer, a loud pitched scream sounded outside the door. "Sakura!" Sasuke yelled, running back out the door.

"What's going on?!" I asked Naruto, completely confused.

"I don't know--" he answered, but was cut off my Sasuke's scream as well.

Kakashi and Naruto both looked shocked, and Kakashi ran out of the room, going to check on both his student. "Naruto, stay with Yakunan!" He ordered before leaving.

I looked at Naruto, fearfully. "Naruto, do you have any clue what's going on?"

Naruto shook his head, "No, but if something happened, I'm sure Kakashi-sensei could handle it, believe it!" I could tell he was nervous because his voice cracked and his eyes shone with worry.

A thudding sound was loud against the marble flooring, with the sound of rolling, and footsteps. Then it all went dead silent.

No one said anything, the breath hitched in my throat. Then a hand appeared at the door, a gloved one at that. "There you are, Kaka-sensei! What's going on?" Naruto asked.

Then a body fell in behind the hand, and what we thought was Kakashi was a big mistake. It was just his body. Not his head.

"KAKASHI!!" Naruto and I screamed at the same time.

A red blur appeared in the room, and before you knew it, there was 5 kunais sticking out of Naruto's chest. He faced me, his sapphire eyes as wide as saucers, and blood trailed down his mouth. He sputtered up blood, which went all over my face and clothes, and flopped down on the bed, his pale face facing my way and his eyes were dull.

He was dead.

I screamed loudly, and tried to shake Naruto, wishing he was awake. The stench of fresh blood filled the air.

"He's dead," a voice said in the corner of the room. I looked up, to see a girl in the corner. She had on a black shirt with fresh blood stains and red scarf with blood red hair and coal black eyes. "Just like you'll be." She flashed away, and appeared right in front of me.

I got a closer look at the girl and gasped, as she plunged a kunai into my heart.

This girl was me.

And I killed my friends
*-*-*-*-*-*

I woke up gasping for breath. I was in a tree, looking down on my teammates trying to fight something. My head was pounding, and remembered all the things that just occurred. Rei killing me... Drowning... And killing my team... All of it.

I looked away, confused. I killed everyone, but I was still living, so what was going on?

'Yakunan!' Pure's voice yelled in my head, loudly at that. I winced and grabbed my head in pain. Well I tried to because I was still in wolf form.

'Hmph, the brat's still okay after all that,' Kuro mused. 'Your fears were very interesting, I'll have to see more of them, later. Goodbye for now, human.' Her presence faded away, leaving me, Pure, and Crimson.

"Yakunan!!" A hushed voice said beside me. I turned my head to see Naruto with wide eyes. "Ya-chan, you're awake believe it!" I flinched at the words, remembering my last memory.

'Yeah, what's going on? How long have I been out?' I asked him with the mind link. My head still hurt, but as long as he talked softer then I'll be good.

'We were attacked by rain ninja, and you've been out for a few days, we're on day four now,' Sakura's voice said in my head. 'What was wrong with you? You were screaming and yelling in your sleep. We thought that you were dying or something.'

'Nothing, don't worry about it,' I lied, but you could tell I was lying because I was trembling slightly.

'Are you sure? You're shaking...' Naruto reached out to touch me but I automatically bared my teeth at him.

'DON'T TOUCH ME!' I yelled at him, disregarding the pain from my headache.

Naruto looked shocked, his baby blue eyes wide with worry. I could smell the sadness coming off of him. He looked down and stopped talking after that.

'Yakunan, what's going on?' Sasuke's voice said, his was a bit strained though.

'... Nothing, we're fine,' I told him.

'Then change back into a human, we are almost done here,' Sasuke ordered. I nodded, and shifted back into a human, still standing on the thick, sturdy branch.

I could see Sasuke standing above us, counting down from 5 on his fingers. Once he got to one, all the clones were gone, leaving just 3 guys, and 5 clones of us on the ground.

We jumped down, and Naruto explained their plan to the enemy -- who was the rain ninja that we saw at the beginning of the test -- and then beat them up, and took their scroll.

Once they finished, I also realized that they were working with Kabuto, which made me angry. How could they be working with this guy?! He was lucky I was unconscious or he would be dead by know!

"C'mon Yakunan, it's time to go," Sakura said, pulling me by my sleeve. "Thank you, Kabuto-senpai!" She thanked the glasses-wearing ninja.

'DON'T THANK THE BAD GUY!!!' I thought angrily, but didn't say anything, I just glared heatedly.

"Where did she come from?" Kabuto asked innocently, pointing in my direction.

"Her? Oh she was the dog earlier, Yakunan just woke up earlier," Naruto explained, not using his nickname for me. Wow, harsh...

"Are you sure she isn't an enemy or something? I mean, she looks suspicious already," Kabuto said. I could tell he was smirking evilly behind that stupid façade of his. "Her card was empty, so what secrets is she hiding? What if she was just an enemy for another team?"

I glared at him and growled. He's trying to turn my own team against me! Ugh, the jerk!!

Naruto looked at me, I couldn't tell what emotion he wore on his face. "... I don't know anymore, actually..." He said softly, but I could hear it with my enhanced hearing and frowned.

'Please don't tell me you're buying this, Naru-kun... I would never hurt you...' I thought sadly, but memories from minutes earlier told me otherwise. Did I really hurt his feelings? I didn't mean to... I'm sorry...

"Hn, it doesn't matter anyways," Sasuke said. "We need her to pass, so she stays, hurry up, we don't need to be any later than we already have been." Sasuke walked off, with Sakura following behind, as always. Before I could talk to Naruto, he ran off after Sasuke, leaving just Kabuto and I.

"Well, I guess your supposed friends don't trust you anymore, huh Demon?" Kabuto asked me when they were out of earshot.

"Shut up, Kabuto," I said, my face visibly darkening.

Kabuto laughed. "You are in no position to tell me what to do, Demon," Kabuto reminded me. "Remember, I can still take you out in an instant."

"You underestimate my powers, Kabuto," I told him. "I've gotten stronger, I've far surpassed you actually, I could kill you right now if I wanted." I smirked at looked at him. A frown rested upon his face, and he glared at me.

"Don't overdo it demon," Kabuto hissed. "I can still have you killed!"

"Oh please," I said with a wave of my hand. "You're just jealous that I made friends in, like, a month, when you can't make any."

"What are you taking about?! I made friends with your team pretty quick!" He retaliated.

"They not real friends, baka," I told him with an eye roll. "Just admit it, your only friend is a sixty-thousand year old pedophilic snake." I smirked knowing I won this argument, and Kabuto frowned, you could practically see the steam coming out of his ears.

"Whatever demon. Now run to your 'team', or you'll be late," Kabuto stalked off, leaving me by myself. I rolled my eyes and ran after my team, quickly catching up to them.

Nobody said anything, and a semi-awkward, semi-comfortable silence filled the strange atmosphere. Sakura was the first to speak up.

"I'm so happy that you're okay, Yakunan," she informed me with a kind smile.

"We were better off without her..." Naruto mumbled, his arms crossed over his chest. I frowned at his comment, and ignored the hard glares that he gave me.

"Shut up, Naruto!" Sakura scolded him.

"It's not my fault she is so weird!" Naruto yelled back. Did he seriously just call me weird? Ouch, that hurt...

"What happened between you two?" Sasuke asked us, confused.

"I don't know, why don't you tell then, Yakunan-san?" Naruto asked me, putting extra emphasis on my name.

I looked away, and my frown deepened. It's not my fault that I was traumatized, he scared me. I was sorry, so why was he being such a jerk about it.

"Yakunan, what's going on?" Sakura asked me, tugging on my sleeve lightly. As soon as she touched my arm, I pulled my arm away, and glared at her.

"Don't touch me!" I seethed, between clenched teeth. Memories from earlier seeped into my brain, making me clench my throbbing head.

'What's... Going on...? Why does my head hurt so much?' I thought painfully.

'It's probably the after effects of the nightmare,' Pure said. 'It's gonna hurt for a bit, I guess. I'll see what I can do to soothe the pain.' I felt Pure to begin to heal me with her chakra, but it didn't do much to help the pain.

"Yakunan? What's wrong?" Naruto asked, his voice full of worry. I just groaned and held my head, painfully.

'It's not the aftereffects, Pure,' Crimson said. 'It's because she's rejecting Kuro's power. Don't you feel it? It's like its trying to penetrate her chakra, but she's rejecting it. So it's hurting her instead.'

"Make... It stop..." I panted.

'Take my power,' Kuro's voice echoed through my head. Another wave of pain flooded through me, making me sway and lose balance.

"Yakunan!! Yakunan!!" Sakura yelled, but I could barely hear her, I could only hear the sound of my heart beating loudly and quickly against my chest.

"It hurts... Make it stop... Please..." I wheezed. "I'll do anything... Just stop..."

'Take my power, and I'll end your suffering... For now...' Kuro said.

"I'll never... Take your power..." I told her, but the pain just increased.

'Then suffer,' Kuro spat, getting a bit frustrated.

I felt like I was being choked to death, and my head felt like lead. "H-help..." I whispered, before falling on the ground flat, and slipping out of consciousness.
*-*-*-*-*

I was swimming in a abyss of darkness, and I could barely feel or hear anything except for the hushed unknown voices.

"Now, human, stubbornness gets you nowhere," Kuro's voice echoed through the darkness, making it completely impossible to pinpoint it. "Just take my power and we'll be done with all this nonsense."

"N-never!" I told her bravely.

Kuro sighed, as if she was disappointed with my answer. "I was afraid you would say that," she said. "Well, I guess I'll have to punish you. I really did like those memories that I saw earlier, it was interesting and..." She trailed off, and suddenly appeared right before my face. "... Delicious!"

My eyes widened. "You... You ate my nightmares...?" I asked her, shocked.

"Why of course!" She said happily. "I have to feed somehow, and your raw emotions makes such a great meal!" She smiled widely making me shiver. "The fear and anxiety from yours were so... Exhilarating!" She laughed like a mad man. "I would love to try some more, do you mind lending me some?"

I looked at her, wide-eyed and shaking slightly. She was giving off a strong scent of malice and desperation, some that I had smelled all too familiar.

"N-no! Leave me alone!" I shouted at her, and tried to run away, but she caught me by the arm and spun me around. I stared into her yellow orbs mesmerizingly, and they seemed to glow a bit.

"I'm sorry, let me rephrase that: Give me more emotions!" She brought up a black, chakra covered hand and touched my forehead with it. "Give me all your delicious emotions and take my power!" She screamed before I passed out.
*-*-*-*
I was surrounded by my fears. Seriously, all of them.

There were different scenes flashing over my vision, giving me a short, yet graphic, moment of each and everyone of my fears. They seemed to repeat themselves over again.

Rei was stabbing me.

Orochimaru was drowning me.

My team was dying.

Rei was laughing evilly.

Orochimaru was placing a painful curse mark on me.

I was murdering my team.

I was frozen with fear watching each and every one of the scenes against my will. With each one, I screamed hysterically, and tears streamed down my face.

Rei was trying to kill me.

Orochimaru was punishing me.

I killed Kakashi.

With every scene change, the next one was longer than the last, and what was a 15 second scene became a 45 second one. What was a minute one became three minutes.

Rei was stabbing me repeatedly, and licking my blood off his knife.

Orochimaru was drowning me under water and then put me in a mind shattering graphic genjutsu.

I slowly and painfully killed each one of my teammates, one after another. I was tearing Sakura to shreds in my wolf form. Then I would feast on her body. I killed Kakashi next, doing the same procedure. Then Sasuke, then Naruto. Each one pleading for me to spare them, but I didn't listen and kept killing everyone.

That last one had broken me, as I fell into a heap of tears, muttering apologies and screaming.

"No Rei, stop... Not the water... I'm sorry Kakashi... Rei please... Not the water... I'm sorry Naruto." I muttered over and over again, pulling at my hair. Another scene of me killing my team flashed across my vision, making me scream.

"All this fear! All this terror! It's... Delicious!!!" Kuro's voice echoed in the room. "I can end all the pain and all the sadness, human. Just take my power, and it'll all go away."

I looked up, and even with the extreme terror I was facing, I looked her straight into her yellow eyes. "Hell no," I spat.

Kuro growled angrily, and began to yell curses at me, but I hadn't been able to hear her because I was completely submerged in darkness.

Once again, I'm sorry this story is so dramatic and sad and... God, it's so old! I literally wrote this part of the story nearly year ago, and then procrastinated posting it ._....

I really really need to rewrite this story, but I also wanna finish it first, but then again I don't. There are about five more chapters until I get to the part where I stopped and then I'll decided what I'll do from there.

I'm so sorry to anyone who loves this story (I honestly don't know how you do, it's so immature and... Geez, it makes me feel old...).

My purpose for writing is for you guys. I love making people happy—hence the name 'Happyritas'—so, if you really like this book and would like me to continue, just tell me. Comment, PM, send me a pigeon with a note attached, whatever.

(But if you do do the pigeon thing, I would love you forever because that's awesome.)

I'll try and write more for this story, but in the mean time, check out my other Naruto stories, since I have like three (well, really four, but I'll probably won't post that last one). They're called 'Ninjas in the Pride', and 'The Dragon, the Princess'. Those are more recent stories with plot lines I actually enjoy writing for, lol.

Well, that's all for now, my little Ice Pops, I'll see you next time, and until then...

Don't melt~!
