Chapter 29: Odd Jobs
Chapter 29:
Yakunan's POV
I woke up crying and screaming. I could barely see that I was back I Kakashi's house because I was too busy freaking out. I sat straight up in the bed, and the hiding jutsu undid instantly.
Images and memories from the nightmare earlier only made me scream louder, and pull at my hair, in fear. I could still hear their dead, creepy voices in my head.
"Atone for your sins. Atone for your sins," It repeated over and over to in my mind.
The room suddenly got darker, as I felt that dark chakra from the other day, again. I pressed my ears down against my heads and felt my tail puff up. The hairs on the back of my neck stood straight.
'Atone for your sins, Yakunan...' A mysterious voice said from deep inside of me. 'You are already a mistake of life and you killed all those people. You need to atone for your sins.'
"G-get out of my head, stop, please," I pleaded.
'Use your power, and do it, atone for your sins,' the voice whispered. Suddenly, a rush of chakra filled my body and surrounded me like a cloak, bubbling on my skin. Every bubble was burning hot, and blistering my pale skin. 'Yes... That's it, atone for your sins...'
"A... Atone for my... sins..." I said, my voice sounded weird and I felt strange. "I must... Atone for my--"
The door swung open showing Kakashi wielding a kunai knife and a shocked expression. After seeing me, his expression hardened as he got a tighter grip on his kunai knife.
"Yakunan, what's wrong?" He said warily, taking a step towards me.
I suddenly remembered all those people that died by my hands. I'm a monster, a demon, and could kill Kakashi. "S-stay back! I don't want to hurt you!!" I said, scooting as far away as I could in the small bed.
"Yakunan, please, everything is going to be alright," he said taking another step towards me.
"I don't want to hurt you, go away!" I said, putting my bubbly-ish hands in front of my face. Something shot out from my hands and in the direction of Kakashi. It hit him straight in the chest, and sent him flying against the wall behind him.
I gasped and put my hands over my mouth, the bubbles fading away to nothingness. "KAKASHI!!" I cried getting out of the bed, but as soon as I stood, my body felt weak making me fall on butt. Kakashi groaned and slowly stood up.
"Kakashi, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you, I swear! I'm so, so sorry, Kakashi," I said, crying into my hands. I always screw up everything! Why did I do that?! I'm evil, and will always bring misfortune. Why can't I do something right for once!? I was trying to help, but it never works!! I'm a monster.
I felt something pat my head. I looked up to see Kakashi looking down at me. He was giving me a closed eye smile, but he held a hand to his injuried stomach. "It's fine, I'm fine see," he lifted his hand to show his chest that had a burning hole in it, that was bruising his skin and making it lightly bleed.
Needless to say, I freaked out. "AHH! YOU'RE BLEEDING!! YOU NEED MEDICAL ATTENTION!! WHAT IF YOU BLEED TO DEATH? OR BRUISE TO DEATH? OR DIE FROM INTENSE PAIN?" I screamed, freaking out. Then realized something and gasped. "WHAT IF IT HAD POISON IN IT AND IF GOT IN YOUR BLOODSTREAM!!? THEN YOU'D BE DYING FROM POISON SLOWLY AND YOU WOULDN'T EVEN KNOW IT!! WE NEED TO GET YOU TO A HOSPITAL OR A MEDIC NINJA OR- OR--"
"Yakunan, I'm fine," Kakashi reassured, whilst sweat dropping. "I've been worse, so I'll live. Anyways, are you okay? Why were you screaming?"
Okay, I can completely lie here, or tell the truth. What do I say of I tell the truth? 'Oh yeah, I'm fine, just saw the memories of the guys who destroyed my homeland, no biggie.' I don't think that'll cut it...
I could just generalize it and say it was a nightmare, but then he might start asking questions. I could say that I don't want to talk about it, and that may get him off my back, but I'm not sure.
Then I could say that I thought that I saw him in the darkness again. Which would seem like a good lie, but knowing Kakashi, he might get suspicious and not believe it.
So I went with the second choice. "I had a really bad nightmare..." I mumbled, looking at the ground, my tail swishing nervously.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" He asked, me. I shook my head, no. I didn't want to think about it anymore. "Was it really that bad?" I nodded, a tear slipping out of my eyes. Kakashi noticed my hurt and sighed. "Fine, how about we get ready for the day, I have paperwork to work our anyways. Oh, and we're going on missions today. How about we go to the training grounds after breakfast?" Kakashi offered, and I nodded, getting out of the bed.
Kakashi left me in the room, alone and I quickly got ready. I took a quick shower and put on a black tee-shirt with a blood red rose growing up the sides. I also had black cargo pants and black ninja sandals. I wrapped my arms and legs in bandages. If we were going to the training grounds, I was going to need it. Finally, I securely tied my headband around my forehead and my scarf around my neck, covering the small holes with it, and put my waist long red hair into a high ponytail. I also put my ears and tail away too.
Exiting the bathroom, I quickly made my way to the kitchen, finding the lingering scent of... I didn't know what it was, actually.
I walked into the kitchen to find Kakashi in a black apron that said 'kiss the ninja' flipping whatever he was making on the stove. I sat down at the table behind him, and waited patiently for the food to be finished.
Once he finally finished, he placed a plate of food in front of me. It was brown, but nor burnt, and in a oval shape. The underside of it was a lighter shade of brown, and had holes on it. Kakashi placed a fork and knife beside my plate and a brown liquid in a bottle in front of me, along side a stick of butter.
"What... Is this...?" I asked Kakashi, clearly confused.
"What are you talking about? It's pancakes," he replied, sitting down with his own 'pancakes' in front of him.
"I've never heard of a... Pancake before..." I replied, the new word feeling strange against my tongue. "Where are the chopsticks?"
Kakashi laughed. "You don't use chopsticks for pancakes, you use a fork and a knife," he explained.
I slowly picked up the fork, and stabbed the pancakes in the middle of it. Awkwardly holding the fork, I tried to bring it to my face to eat, but it slipped off my fork. Frowning, I tried again, this time stabbing it harder. Once I brought it to my face again, it fell off.
I glared at the evil pancakes, thinking of ways to consume it. Channeling chakra into my hand, I stabbed it harder, making sure that it'd stay. Before I could wat it again, the pancake fell, again. I growled lowly at the food. How am I supposed to eat this?!
I took the pancake with my fork and raised it in the air. Quickly placing the knife under it, sandwiching the pancake in between the utensils and keeping it in place. Before I could eat it, once again, it slid out of the hold and flipped back on the plate.
Finally, I pushed the food away, frustrated, and got up from the table. Kakashi was laughing at my frustration at eating pancakes. "Do you need help?" He asked me, mockingly.
"Shut up, Kakashi," I commanded, and moved to raid the fridge. I found a slightly bruised apple, and took it. "I hate pancakes," I informed him, making him laugh even harder.
"Whatever, I'll eat it," he said, taking the evil pancakes. I sat down at the table, watching him eat the pancakes. Instead of stabbing it, he cut it up with the knife, then stabbed the smaller chunks, thus making it not fall. I mentally face palmed at the ease of eating the substance.
What I also realized was that his mask had small slits in it that was barely noticeable. He put his food through that, which was a bit strange, but I didn't question.
After he finished, I took his plate to the sink and washed it. As I was scrubbing the plate, Kakashi started talking. "Yakunan," I hmm'd in response. "I was wondering, why are you so talkative lately? I mean, you've been talking a more often, so I was wondering why."
I paused for a moment. "I dunno," I said, shrugging. "I guess after the Zabuza incident, I realized that I shouldn't be scared to talk, and kind of put more trust in you guys, I guess. I was never completely mute in the first place, I always had the ability to talk, but for certain reasons, I never did. The only the time I was able to talk was when I was with... Rei..." I paused, thinking back. "That and when I used to talk to Crimson and Pure, and talking out loud. Even when I was by myself, I only talked when I knew I was completely alone and wouldn't be punished for it. When I'm here, I thought that you guys would be like everyone else I met: Evil, deceiving, and dominant over me. When you guys said I could talk, I thought you were trying to deceive me or letting me talk for a little bit, but then take it away again. After the mission, I saw your true motives and colors and realized that you guys, and almost all of Konoha, were actually good people and wouldn't hurt me. It was one of the few times I was able to put faith in someone." I looked at Kakashi who was staring at me, letting my mini speech sink in. "If you would like me to go back to using a note pad and signing, I'll gladly do it," I added with a small smirk.
Kakashi rolled his eyes. "No, being able to hear your voice instead of reading your signed language is much easier." I smirked again, and began to finish the last dish.
"I have a question for you," I said while putting the dried dish on the rack. "How were you able to sign sign language so fluently? I mean, that should be impossible for anyone." I asked while quickly drying the dishes and setting them on the rack.
"I was wondering when you were going to ask that," he said. "To put it simply, I used the Sharingan. Inoichi showed me all the hand signs for the language and I used the Sharingan to copy it. It took a while, but I got it all. It was actually quite clever of you kids to think of a language and make hand signs for it. A normal kid would never think of such thing."
I laughed, "Well I'm special," I informed him, putting away the last dish. "Done. Let's go now." I said, turning around and heading towards the door. I picked up my ninja pouches and stuff I would need for training that were resting at the door.
"I have another question," Kakashi said, walking along side me. "Why do you always keep your ninja stuff at the door instead of your room?" He asked as we walked out the door.
It was still a bit early, and the sun was shining softly over the horizon making the sky seem pinkish. The clouds helped the scenery and made them seem a lighter shade of pink. All in all, it was breathtaking.
"I have fast reflexes, right?" I asked him, and he nodded. "Let's say that you, or someone else, idiotically woke up. If I had my ninja pouches right beside the bed, my first instinct would be to grab it, take a kunai out, and stab the closest person -- or persons if they were more than one or shadow clones -- and kill them. If I left them by my bed, and you woke me up, you'd be dead before you could blink. That's why I keep them by the door, I won't accidentally kill anyone." I looked up at Kakashi, who was nodding his head, agreeing with my ideology.
"Wait, what if an enemy comes in? Then what?" He asked, challenging my plan.
"I thought about that, and realized that if an enemy did come in, I would use taijutsu and severely injure them. Kind of like how I did to Guy, but much, much worse," I explained and Kakashi chuckled at my example.
"Nice idea," he praised.
"My turn for a question: Why do you always wear a mask?"
"Well, if I didn't, my teammates would be captivated by my beautiful, sexy face and wouldn't be able to fight properly."
I scoffed. "I highly doubt that your face is 'beautiful' and 'sexy' enough to make someone not be able to fight properly."
"Oh really? Then let me show you how beautiful I am."
"Okay, I don't care, I'm going to tell you if I think your butt ugly though."
Kakashi chuckled and pulled down his mask, revealing...

... ANOTHER MASK!
I deadpanned at him. "So, how do I look?"
"You're worse then butt ugly," I said honestly. "That's what makes your team die from your 'sexiness'? A gray mask? No offense, but your team is pathetic."
Kakashi laughed. "I was joking. Do you really wanna see what's under my mask?" I nodded, curiosity getting the best of me. He reached a hand up to his mask again, and pulled it down. Under it was....

... A face.
... No seriously, it was his face.
He had thin-ish lips that pretty much blended in with his tanned skin, and a regular nose. Under his lip on the right side was a small mole, that was almost unnoticeable.
"So, don't I look sexy?" He teased, his mouth turning up into a taunting smirk.
I rolled my eyes and shoved him playfully. "You're not butt ugly, but you're also not drop-dead gorgeous. You're normal," I said with a shrug. He looked like a normal person and that's it. Nothing more, nothing less.
Kakashi rolled his eyes. "Thank goodness, I thought you were going to fall into a dead faint at my awesome-gorgeous-sexy face," he teased, pulling his mask back up. "You're one of the few people that I showed my face to, so you can't tell anyone what I look like." I nodded.
"I promise that I won't describe your half butt ugly face to anyone, you have my word," I said solemnly, raising my right hand.
Kakashi rolled his eyes and walked a bit faster. "So, I guess it's my turn what's your favorite book?"

After we finished out question and answer session, on the way to the training grounds, asking each other a bunch of random things. I had learned quite a lot about Kakashi, and he learned alot about me. I think we kind of had a... Bonding session, I think is the word for it. Saying it like that makes it sound lame, but learning a bunch of new things about my legal guardian was actually kind of fun, to be honest.
Once we arrived to the training grounds, it looked to be about 9 in the morning. Kakashi had to go fill out the paper work for our missions, so he had to just drop me off. He said that by 12 we would be ready and should meet up at the Hokage's office.
The training ground had a large lake running across it. It looked about 10-15 feet deep in the center or more, I wasn't sure. There was a board walk going through it that just stopped at the radius of the pond. Some ducks were swimming about in it too, which gave off the peaceful look for it. Beside the pond, a good 3-9 yards away, were some punching dummies and a sign stating that it was the 10th training ground. It also said something about being wary of the pond too, but I ignored it since I wasn't going anywhere near the amass of water anyway.
I began on one of the 5 punching straw dummies. I struck its vital points with kunai knifes precisely and threw some ninja stars for good measure. After retrieving my items, I realized that I still had my black and white katana on me.
Unraveling my scroll that I sealed it in, I summoned it. Lying in the grass beside me, was the black and white dragon katana that the kinds weapons merchant gave me. I held it in my had, and weighed it. It seemed rather light for its size. It was a good few feet long, maybe 2 or 3, and could be easily worn somewhere and not fall out.
After thinking for a while, I decided that I'd get a strap to put it in securely so that it could always be used. I brought it out of the sheath, hearing a clean 'shnk' of the fresh blade. The blade was a deep black, opposite of the white casing and dragon pattern.
I held it in my hand, wielding if like I have seen Crimson do. Stancing myself accordingly, I aimed my katana at the dummy. Then I attacked it.
My movement was fluid and smooth. I felt like I had been using this weapon all my life. Looking back at the dummy once I finished, I saw that it was completely cut up.
'Whoa...' I thought, astonished at the sight I saw before me. I tried again, this time seeing if I could channel chakra into my arm making the slashes deeper and deadlier. I kept going at it, trying different combos with the blade, trying to catch the blade on fire, unsuccessfully, and doing whatever I could with the new, powerful blade.
*-*-*-*
I sat on the grass, panting heavily. The dummies that were there were now long gone, leaving just a black, slightly singed stump.
'That... Was awesome...' I thought, very wowed by my accomplishment using the new blade on the first try. Once I could get the chance, would summon Crimson to help me sharpen my skills.
I sighed and looked at the sky. 'I wonder what they are doing right now...' I thought deeply. The clouds were making shapes across the sky, some being weird bunnies and such, other looked like flower, grass, birds, etc. The sun shone brightly in the sky making me very warm, and causing m skin to tans lightly. The sun was in the middle of the sky, signaling that it was about 12 o'clock or maybe 12:30.
Wait.
I got up, quickly un-summoning my blade and rolling up my scroll. I was going to be late for the missions!!
I ran as quickly as I could back to the Hokage's office, leaving a big trail of dust behind me. I applied whatever chakra I had into my legs and feet making me go faster. Minutes later, I made it to the front of the red Hokage building and ran inside.
Quickly stopping at the desk, I signed in, writing my name under the most recent one, which happened to be Kakashi's, and raced down the hall.
Taking the steps three at a time, I bounded up the steps and into the familiar Hokage hallway. Finally, I made it to the room and threw open the door. Inside was a very agitated Naruto and Sakura, and a bored Sasuke. The Hokage was sitting at his desk, looking at my team worryingly. Kakashi was standing in the corner reading a Icha Icha book, which was red and new, so I was going to steal it soon.
"YOU'RE LATE!!" Sakura and Naruto yelled angrily, pointing a accusing finger at me.
I raised my hands, as if to surrender, and gave them a small smile. "Sorry, I got caught up in training and lost time," I said.
"Hn," The Emo Duckbutt replied.
"Now that Yakunan has finally showed up, we can start our missions," Kakashi announced, slamming his book shut. "Lets go," he gave everyone a closed eye smile and walked out the room, with us trailing behind.
*-*-*-*
Our first mission was to pick this lady's weeds for her. Doing as I was told, I picked them out as I was instructed. I was extra careful not to pick out the special rare ones that I found. They were called the Lilac-Cheery Bloom and could be used to repel rodent, pest, and animals. It also could be used as a herb to combat fevers, replenish chakra and be combat the common cold. Last time I check was very popular and highly demanded in the gardening community. It is very hard to grow unless under certain circumstances and weather conditions, just like it was in Konoha.
Lilac-Cherry Blooms are very common in the environment here, due to its fair weathering, but still I'd extremely hard to grow. I can see why this lady wanted the weeds out of the garden.
I looked over my shoulder to see Naruto pulling out the Lilac-Cherry Blooms and I gasped. "Naruto!" I whisper yelled to him.
Naruto turned his head to me and gave me a closed eye grin. "You see all the work I've finished. Isn't it awesome?" I didn't reply, I just stared at him, completely shocked. The... The Lilac-Cherry Blooms... The poor, poor herbs...
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?" lThe lady yelled angrily. Naruto and the lady were arguing.
In the end, we all got scolded, including Kakashi, but I promised her that once I got the chance, I'd fix her garden.

Our next job was to clean the river.
"C'mon Yakunan, help!" Sakura called from the water. I, on the other hand, was safely on the shore, not going anywhere near the water.
"Nope," I said popping the 'p' and sat down on the grass.
"Kakashi-sensei, make her help!!" Sakura complained to Kakashi.
Kakashi looked up from the book he was reading. "Don't involve me in this," he said completely disclosing himself from the conversation.
Sakura huffed and came out of the water. She pulled me by the arm and made her way back to the water. I yanked my hand back, and moved as far away from the water as humanly possible.
"C'mon Sakura, leave her alone," Naruto said, trying to somewhat help me.
"No! She needs to help too!" Sakura argued. "Sasuke-kun, make Yakunan help too!!" She whined to the onyx eyed boy behind her.
"Hn," Sasuke said, doing nothing about the situation, and picking up another piece of trash.
Sakura huffed, seeing that Sasuke was going to be no help. She went back to the river, quietly, leaving me by myself.
I gave my attention to the ground. A small beetle was digging in and out of the ground. It was trying to get past a small rock, which looked a bit too thick for it to dig through. I picked up the small beetle and moved the rock over for it, the placed it back on the ground. The beetle dug through the ground, this time easier than before with the rock out of the way. Soon, it was completely in the ground, and out of my site.
A shadow looked over me, and I rose my head to see Sakura holding a large bucket over my head. She turned to bucket over, to splash me with water, but before it could hit me, I jumped back, with lightning speed.
Undoing my hiding jutsu with the sudden surprise, I growled at Sakura. What was her problem?!
Sakura had another bucket of water, from God knows where, and threw the water in my direction. I quickly sidestepped once again, dodging the water.
When I landed, I was on the extremely slippery sand/dirt and too close to the edge of the river for my taste. As I tried to jump away, my foot slipped backwards and I fell into the river.
The dirty water rushed over my body and going up my nose, painfully. My head completely under the water, and I couldn't get a footing on the deep water. I vaguely heard my name being yelled as the current pulled my body away from where my teammates were.
I flew down the current. I heard the loud noise of crashing water beneath me as I fell down the waterfall.
Before I could hit the painful water below me, something caught on my foot. I looked up to see Naruto holding my foot for dear life. Above him was Sasuke who was luckily holding a branch.
"Ya-chan!! Are you okay?!" Naruto asked, worry shining in his sapphire blue eyes.
Before I could respond, the sharp sound of a branch cracking loudly sounding. 'The branch can't hold all of us!!' I thought quickly.
Suddenly, I wasn't in control of my body, as my legs worked by themselves and twisted around Naruto's arm, making him forcibly drop me. Naruto screamed my name as I fell to my death.
Chakra surrounded my body, in a cocoon and before I hit the ground, white and black wings shot out of my back, and made me hover over the water. The wings shot upwards, making me zoom towards ny other two teammates. Quickly grabbing each of them, we flew back over to the top of the cliff. My body set them down on the ground and quickly undid the transformation.
Once I was back to normal, my eyes widened. 'PURE!! PURE WAS THAT YOU?!!' Somehow, Pure had broken a large crack through the chakra wall, and had taken control.
'Pure!! You weren't supposed to help her!!' Crimson yelled at her sister.
'Well what was I supposed to do, let them fall to their deaths?!' Pure shot back.
'She has a sensei, he would've help her--' Crimson argued, but Pure cut her off.
'There were three of them, he wouldn't've been able to carry all three of them!' Pure said, her face growing red with anger. 'Besides, we couldn't keep ourselves distanced from her for so long, I was going to crack one way or another!'
'You are weak if you couldn't keep yourself from her for that long, Pure. You know why we need to keep ourselves from her! It's for her own good!'
'You keep saying that! 'It's for her own good!' Don't tell me you really believe that yourself! Stop lying to yourself, Crimson! You want to be with her as much as I want to!!'
'I DON'T NEED TO BE WITH HER!! I NEVER EVEN ASKED TO BE WITH HER IN THE FIRST PLACE!! Look at her! She's a twelve year old girl who is extremely weak and all too dependent on our powers! I don't want to stay cooped up in this body anymore!! I want to get out, massacre a few villages, do what I used to be able to do when I wasn't stuck in the hellhole!! She's the only thong that's keeping me back!! Look at her! She's literally a ticking time bomb! At any moment she can go off and destroy everything! She's the child of the freaking prophecy! I don't want that on my reputation!!!' Crimson raged at her sister.
I froze. 'Is... Is that really how you feel about me... Crimson...?' I asked, completely taken back at her words. She hates me and wants nothing to do with me, just like everyone else... 'You... You hate me too...? Are you going to leave me also...?'
'Yakunan, Crimson didn't mean that,' Pure said, trying to comfort me.
'Yes I did,' Crimson retaliated. 'Yakunan, I hate you. You're a monster and a mistake. I never asked to be here with you and bound to you for the rest of your days. You are literally a waste of my time. I don't even know why I tried to help you or be nice to you.'
Tears fell down my cheeks, one by one as I took in her words. 'CRIMSON, STOP IT! Yakunan, don't believe her.'
'... All this time... I thought that you guys were the only people who I could truly trust... But you're just like everyone else... You hate who I am and... And lied to me... Just like everyone else...'
'No, we're not like that, I promise, Yakunan!!' Pure said, she was crying herself.
'STOP LYING TO ME!!! LEAVE ME ALONE!!' I said and throwing up the strongest chakra wall that I could muster.
"... Yakunan!" Naruto yelled in my face, dragging me away from Crimson and Pure.
"What?" I asked, trying not to freak out at how close he was at the same time trying not to burst into tears too.
"Are you okay? Those wings were awesome, believe it! You're crying though, so are you hurt?" Naruto said, jumping from topic to topic.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I said, wiping my cheeks. I gave him a closed eye fake smile, which he gladly accepted. "Thanks by the way," I added. I shakily got up, really dizzy from the chakra wall that I placed and from transforming into Pure.
As soon as I stood, I fell back to the ground, but luckily, Kakashi caught me. "You don't seem so fine," Kakashi stated. "If you turn into a dog, I'll carry you until your chakra replenishes," he offered, and I nodded. Ever since the full transformation, I've been able to shift from wolf to human effortlessly. I don't know the extent of its last, but lets just say that its a long time. I checked this morning while I was training.
I quickly turned into a wolf cub and jumped on Kakashi's head, I was still pretty soaked, so his hair was also getting wet too.
'Thanks,' I thought to him.
'No problem,' he replied as he gathered our team up, getting ready for the next mission. 'If you don't mind me asking, why were you crying like that? I know you have a fear for water and everything, but it seemed like something else was going on too.'
I sighed, 'Crimson, Pure, and I aren't really oh speaking terms so to say, and it's really effecting my behavior.'
'What happened?' He asked. I explained the whole issue, including what happened recently, too. 'So they didn't think you trusted them, and stopped talking to you. Then they insulted you, purposefully. Finally, Pure said that she couldn't take it and defended you, but Crimson still yelled at you,' he summarized as he walked to our next mission. I wasn't participating, instead, I was watching Naruto try to walk a dog that was half his size and two times as strong as him.
'Yeah, but the weirdest thing was that Pure seemed like she really didn't want to say all those things about me. Crimson seems like she's mindset on thinking that shunning me is for the best.'
'Maybe it is,' Kakashi said.
'What?! Who's side are you on?!' I said angrily, while hitting his head.
'Look at it this way: You draw most your power from Crimson and Pure right?' I nodded. 'Recently, your power has been wild, and pretty untamable and Pure and Crimson are the cause of this since it's kind of their power. So I think that they are trying to distance their power from you, so that you won't go crazy or something and accidentally hurt someone.' I thought about his words.
'That does kind of make sense, I guess,' I agreed. 'But my powers rarely go out of check.'
'Really? Think of it like this: When was the first time your powers went berserk?'
'When I escaped Orochimaru's hideout, about a few weeks ago,' I confirmed.
'Now when was the second time it went berserk?'
'Um... After the mind search about 3 days? Maybe two?'
'And third time?'
'This morning.'
'You see? The timing for you powers are getting closer and closer,' Kakashi explained. 'Here's my theory: Before you escaped the hideout, the seal on the demons were sealed tight. But after you used the power to escape, the seal loosened greatly, especially with using Pure's and Crimson's chakra combined. Since then, the seal is slowly, but surely, loosening with each time your power becomes berserk. In order to prevent this, Crimson and Pure distanced themselves from you, suspending the time that the seal will completely loosen.'
'That... Makes sense...' I agreed after hearing his words. 'So, they only said those things to protect me...?'
'I'm not saying that they didn't mean it, I have no clue what goes on inside their heads. I am saying that there is a very high chance that they didn't mean it at all and were trying to protect you and those who you love.' A smile slowly danced across my face, as I thought about his words.
'Thanks Kakashi. Your words really clears that up,' I said, while jumping off his head.
'Are you fine now?' He asked.
'Yeah, I'll be fine,' I said, and turned back into a human.
We need rounded up everyone, including a very burnt Naruto, and got ready to start another mission. Above us, a eagle soared, and squawked loudly. Kakashi sighed. "That's it for today, you can go home now." He said and left in a poof of smoke.
Everyone began to walk away, ready to do their own things. "Hey Sasuke-kun!!" Sakura said, chasing after Sasuke, who was currently walking in the opposite direction. He turned around, giving her his attention. "Umm... I was wondering... If you want to... I don't know... Go out? I mean we can go training or something or even--"
"I'm not interested," Sasuke said, cutting her off. With that, he walked off, rather quickly, and leaving Sakura in the dust.
"H-hey Sakura, do you want to go out with me?" Naruto offered, hopefulness clear in his voice.
"EW! GROSS! NO!!" Sakura yelled at him, bonking him on the head.
Naruto frowned at his new bump and started anime crying. We walked off, all going in the same direction. Once we were back near the houses, a square box, with a rock pattern on it and two small holes in the front started sneaking up on us.
"Naruto, you see the box too, right?" I asked, poking him. He nodded. "Good, I'm not going crazy." I said, more to myself.
"Just ignore it and keep walking," Naruto said through clenched teeth. I nodded, following his orders.
For a few more blocks, the box kept following us. I stopped while Naruto was walking and it went past me, to him. Naruto, who was very agitated at this point, walked in circles and in zigzags to evade the box.
After a while, he stopped and yelled at the box. "WILL YOU STOP STALKING ME!! SERIOUSLY, IT'S NOT EVEN HIDDEN!! WHAT ROCK IS SQUARE?!!? AND HAS EYE HOLES!!!" Naruto yelled, making me wince at his loudness. Even if I was used to most of it now, it still hurt my ears when they yelled. It sounded like they were screaming bloody murder.
The box suddenly lifted and smoke followed it. Three small scents were made known, showing that they were little kids. They introduced themselves by throwing a smoke bombs on the ground and yelling. There were two boys and a girl. One boy had a blue scarf, who seemed to be the leader of the group. There was another had a runny nose and glasses. The last girl had orange hair sticking up with two ponytail-thingy-holders at the ends(what's the name for that?). Each of them wore green goggles, just like Naruto when I first met them.
"Hey boss, are these girls you...?" The leader-boy said, then held up his pinkie.
"Hmm? What does that mean?" I asked Sakura. Sakura, on the other hand, was steaming with anger.
"That, means if she is your girlfriend," Sakura said through clenched teeth. I made an 'o' with my mouth.
"You have a very keen eyesight, young padawan," Naruto said, stroking his imaginary beard. "Yes she is most definitely my--" Naruto was cut off by Sakura karate chopping his head, fire blazing in her eyes.
"I AM NOT YOUR GIRLFRIEND!!" Sakura screamed at him. Naruto anime cried, and held his poor, hurt head.
"Oh, so she's your girlfriend, huh?" The boy asked again. "She's better than that other witch over there, she's pretty too. Much, much better than that she-devil."
I smiled at the young boy. "I'll be your girlfriend Naruto!" I said, happily.
"R-really?!" Naruto asked, quite surprised.
"Yeah, I'm already your girlfriend though. I'm your friend, and I'm a girl, so I'm already your girlfriend," I explained. "Sakura's our friend too, but she must not be a girl, though... I didn't know Sakura was a cross dresser..." The little kids burst out laughing and fell to the ground. I felt a very deadly force from behind me. I turned around to see Sakura... No, that's not Sakura... That's the devil...
"Witch... She-devil... Cross dresser...?" A very creepy voice said from Sakura's mouth. "I'LL KILL YOU!!!"
In a split second, I ran, picking up the little girl and snotty boy with me. Naruto and the boy with the scarf ran behind us. I quickly turned the corner, and looked behind us for a second. Sakura was gaining on Naruto, who was currently crying his eyes out in fear, and the scarf-boy was just in front of him.
When I turned around, I hit something, causing me to fall back and hit my butt. The two others fell beside me. I was roughly grabbed by the shirt and brought into the air, my feet dangling from the ground.
"You'll pay for that, brat!" A boy in front of me said. He was wearing makeup and a black hoodie. The corners of the hoodie looking like cat ears. On the forehead part of it, was a metal plate, like the one on my arm, but with a different symbol on it.
"Will you put me down?" I asked calmly. I can tell this guy is a bully already, and I didn't want to start a fuss with little kids present. That and hurt this guys ego when I kick his ass.
"Actually, I might, since you're awfully pretty," the cat-boy said. "I'll put you down if you agree to be my girlfriend."
I shook my head, no. "I'm sorry, I would, but you look about 16 maybe 17 years old, which is way to old for me. I'm pretty sure you're in the range to be called a pedophile for hitting on young girls like me, and I'm sure that wouldn't look good on your reputation," I said.
"You little brat, why I outta--" Cat-boy said.
I smirked. "HELP! THIS BOY IS TRYING TO DO BAD THINGS TO ME!!" I yelled, while fake crying.
"KANKURO!!" A feminine voice yelled behind him. Suddenly, the Cat-boy was hit upside the head by a big black... Fan...? The Cat-boy dropped me, and clutched the back of his head. A stranger walked up to me, and took my hand to help me up. She looked about 15 or 17 and had 4 ponytails in her hair. She wore a purple dress with a lavender vest over it and a ribbon on her waist. Under her dress was a fishnet undershirt and shorts. She had elbow length fingerless gloves and knee high black boots. On her back was a large fan, that she hit Cat-boy with seconds earlier. Around her neck was a head band, just like the one on my arm, but it had a different symbol on it. It was the same symbol as Cat-boy's here.
I took her hand, and got to my feet, brushing off my black cargo pants. "Are you okay?" She asked and I nodded. For some reason, I felt really self-conscious about talking around her, I don't know why, but I just didn't trust her, I guess. "Good, now Kankuro..." She said, cracking her fingers. "What have we told you about being a pervert?"
"T-Temari I swear I didn't do anything!!" 'Kankuro' said, backing up. "That little brat is lying, I swear!!"
The girl turned around to look at me. "Is that true?" She asked.
"N-no," I stuttered. "T-that man t-tried to grab m-my bo-boobs," I lied, suppressing a smirk. This was gold. "A-and the-en, h-he sa-said th-that I-I-I ha-have t-t-to be hi-his g-g-girl-fr-friend." 'Tears' fell out of my eyes, and slid down my face. His face was priceless and almost made me laugh, breaking my act.
"Kaaannnkkkuuuroooo..." Temari's face darkened.
"THAT LITTLE BRAT IS LYING!!!" He roared, angrily. "I SWEAR I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING THAT THAT BRAT SAID!!!!"
I nudged Naruto, signaling him to play along. "Y-yeah! I saw you! You were trying to hurt my girlfriend!!" Naruto said, putting emphasis on 'my'.
"Kankuro, I'm going to kill you," Temari said. "Once Gaara hears about this--"
"Once Gaara hears about what?" A new voice said. Now there was a redhead, standing behind the two older teenagers. He had a tattoo on his forehead and his arm was were crossed. On his back was a brown gourd, that had the strange scent of... Sand. Hmm, that's weird.
"Kankuro, was messing with another girl," Temari informed the redhead.
"I WASN'T MESSING WITH HER!!" Kankuro screamed. "IF YOU WOULD JUST LISTEN TO ME THEN--"
"Shut up, Kankuro, or I'll kill you," The redhead, who I'm guessing is Gaara, said. Kankuro went silent instantly. He was sweating bullets, and glaring at me. I soundlessly giggled and stuck my tongue at him.
"Kankuro, you have disgraced the village," Gaara said, emotionlessly. "I apologize for all the trouble we have caused you, we will be leaving now." Gaara and the others turned to walked away.
"Wait!" Sakura called after him. "Your headbands show that you are from the village of sand. State your purpose for being in our village!" She demanded.
"Dummy, we're here for the chunnin exams," Temari said, rolling her eyes. The turned again to leave, but suddenly, the tree above us, shook, and out came the Duckbutt.
"Wait, what's your name?" He asked. Temari turned around, to see Duckbutt, and hearts formed in her eyes.
"Me~?" She asked. I dead panned, Sakura why are you so thirsty...?
"No, the one with the gourd," Sasuke corrected. Dude, you're slow, they said his name like three times...
"Garra of the Sand," the redhead said. "It is the proper courtesy to state your own name as well."
"Uchiha Sasuke," he said.
"And you? The girl Kankuro was... Messing with?" Kankuro grew an irk mark, and he muttered incoherent things.
"Ookami Yakunan," I said.
"I bet you wanna--" Naruto started to say, but Gaara turned back around.
"Not interested," he said, and walked away.
"Oi, Naruto, why is the pretty girl funnier than you?" The scarf-boy asked Naruto. Naruto anime fell, trying to reassure him that he was just as funny.
The wind picked up, and brought in three more scents. Each one very foreign, and they came from the trees surrounding us. My nose twitched, as I picked up another scent with them. It smell like a snake... Like... Orochimaru.
'What, no, that can't be possible! Maybe they just work with snakes or the came across a snake on the way here or something. That can't be his...' I thought to myself. 'I'm just smelling weird things or something. My nose is lying to me.'
But... scents don't lie... Do they...?
