Chapter 17: To The Land Of Waves Part 7
Chapter 17:
Yakunan's POV
I opened my eyes and looked around. I was in the guest room in Tazuna's house. I was covered in bandages, which were unnecessary. Pure should've healed them by now. I looked at the window, it was dark outside, and the moonlight shone through the windows.
I got up and unwrapped the bandages off my body and got my clothes up off the floor. After I was dressed I looked for my scarf.
It wasn't there.
I ran out the room and into the kitchen, seeing everyone at the table, drinking or eating something. All heads turned my way.
"Yakunan! You shouldn't be up yet!!" Sakura said, yelling at me. I narrowed my eyes and glared at her, causing her to sit down.
"My. Scarf." I growled angrily. Tsunami stood up and walked into the kitchen. When she came back, she held my bright red scarf in her hands, and a smile on her face. I sighed, and rushed over to her. "Thank you, so much, Tsunami-san. You don't know how happy I am right now." I held my scarf to my face and sighed, relieved.
"No problem, Yakunan. It looked dirty, so I hope you don't mind that I washed it." Tsunami said smiling. I shook my head, and smiled a wholehearted smile at her.
Kakashi got up from his seat and walked over to me. "Now that, that is out of the way--" he bring his hand down on my head, successfully karate chopping my skull. I frowned and held my head, in pain. "--DON'T YOU DARE DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT AGAIN!!!" He yelled. I nodded, and sweat dropped. Kakashi sighed. "Good, now for punishment." He got an evil gleam in his eyes and I back away, laughing nervously. "You are under house arrest. You may not leave the house, only to guard Tazuna, but once you're done, you are to come straight home. At home you will be helping Tsunami with any chores without complain. Once we get back to Konoha, you will personally see the Hokage and he will deal whatever punishment he has for you." Kakashi explain, his arms crossed over his chest.
I mushroom sighed and mock saluted him. 'Okay, Kakashi. Can I go to my teammates now?' Kakashi frowned but nodded. I got up and walked over to Naruto, who was grinning to himself.
I took out my notepad. 'Hey, Naruto. You still wanna go out to ramen after the mission? It's on me.' I gave him the note and smiled. He grinned and nodded.
"Of course, Ya-chan! I'll bring you to the best ramen shop in all of Konoha, believe it!!" Naruto said enthusiastically.
I smiled and sat down at the space next to Naruto. A bowl of soup was placed in front of me, which I gladly accepted. Right when I finished the bowl, Sakura got up.
"Hey, I realized that this picture is ripped. Is there a reason for that?" She pointed out. The little boy from yesterday face visibly darkened. "I also saw Inari glance at it alot too. Don't you think its kind of strange to keep a ripped photo hung up?" She asked insensitively.
"That's my husband," Tsunami confirmed quietly, looking down at her tea.
"They used to call him the hero of this land." Tazuna said. Suddenly, the little boy, who Sakura called 'Inari', got up and left the room.
"Inari!" Tsunami called after the boy. She turned to Tazuna and glared. "You know not to talk about him in front of Inari!" She scolded before going after the boy.
"He wasn't Inari's real father," Tazuna said in his deep voice. "He came into our family much later. He brought so much happiness with him wherever he went. He and Inari we very close."
I laid my head on the table. Tazuna's story was interesting explaining Inari and this guy named Kaiza who was a do-gooder for the land. He saved Inari from drowning after some bratty kids almost killed him. He stopped a flood. He was praised by everyone. Then he got his arms cut off and stabbed in front of everyone by the Pip-squeak. How lovely.
I don't get why Inari is so sad. Yeah, his dad died and everything, but if it were me and my dad died, which he did, I would try my best to live on his legacy. Not stay all emo all day. To me he's acting like a brat, who barely knows anything. Things like that happens, people dies everyday, just deal with it. If you were all alone and had nobody at all, then I'd understand your pain. But Inari has everything, a mom and grandfather, not to mention a village filled with people, and probably even kids his age. He just needs to get out more and stop being so... Pitiful.
After the story, Naruto jumped up from his seat. Then he face planted on the ground. I almost laughed at his failure, but stopped myself.
"What are you doing, Naruto??" Sakura asked him, as he struggled to get back up.
"I'd be best if you stayed here, you need a day off from training." Kakashi advised. "If you use anymore chakra, you may die."
"I'm gonna prove it to him!" Naruto said determinedly, and still getting to his feet shakily. "I'm gonna prove that there ARE real heroes in this world!" With that he ran out of the room and out to the direction of the woods.
I sighed and got up bringing my dishes with me. "Where are you going, Yakunan?" Kakashi asked.
'Bed,' I replied and walked out of the room. I went to the guest room and lied on the futon, staring at the ceiling. I wonder what the sky looks like right now. I should go to the roof, later. Maybe after Sakura comes in I'll escape.
Suddenly, the door opened and revealed a very tired Sakura. Sakura barely gave me a glance before going to her futon and falling asleep as soon as her head met the mat.
'Well, I guess luck is in my favor, huh.' I thought to myself, musingly as I got off my mat and to the window. I opened up the window and was met with the scent of seawater. I cringed my poor, sensitive nose as I climbed up the side of the small house. In seconds, my hand reached the rooftop, and I swing myself up to the top and landed silently.
I grinned to myself and walked to a clear area of the roof and laid on my back, and looked up at the sky. Thankfully, the sky was very clear and the houses area was very dark, making the stars as clear as night. I spotted multiple different patterns that I remembered from when I was six by myself in the wild.
*-*-* FLASHBACK *-*-*
Six year old Yakunan was in a grassy field by herself. The crickets and other bugs chirped loudly in the background as she lied on her back, and looked at the night sky. It was filled with stars of many different colors.
'Wow...' She thought to herself quietly and traced the stars with her small, skinny finger. She made different shapes and connected the stars. She giggled as she made different faces with them too.
'You wanna do something cool, Ya-chan?' Pure asked softly. Young Yakunan giggled and nodded excitedly. Pure then took over Young Yakunan's body and brought up her arm. 'You see this star right here,' she asked and Yakunan nodded. 'Watch this.' She then brought her arm and connected it to a different star. As she connected the dots, you realized a special pattern in the stars. It oddly resembled the body of a crab. 'This pattern is called a constellation.'
'Con-stall-nation?' Young Yakunan repeated quietly.
'No, con-STELL-ation. A constellation is a group of stars together that makes a certain shape. That one is called Cancer the crab.' Yakunan made a funny face.
'Crab? That didn't look like a crab!' She argued.
Pure chuckled. 'I don't think so either, but that's what someone named it because it looked like a crab.' Pure explained to the child. Yakunan pouted.
'I still don't think it was a crab. Whoever named it that, should go find an actual crab and see what it looks like.' She muttered. Pure laughed and brought up her hand once again.
'Maybe we can go find that person and show him a actual crab then.' Pure replied, and Young Yakunan giggled and nodded. For the rest of that night, Pure and Yakunan looked at the stars, pointing out each one, and Yakunan disagreeing with it's shapes. Every now and then, Crimson would point out ones that Pure missed, or her opinion on them.
That was one of the peaceful times in Young Yakunan's life. Being able to be happy and carefree for once and act like a child.
*-*-* FLASHBACK OVER *-*-*
I sighed at the old memory. I truly wish life could've stayed peaceful like that. Not having a care in the world, and being happy. Having fun. I sighed again and pointed at the sky, tracing the dots.
One constellation caught my eyes. The stars were shaped in a way that kind of resembled a crab; Cancer, the crab. I smiled softly. Now looking at it, it kind of looks like a crab, huh. I smiled and began to trace the other stars, recognizing other constellations and stars.
I stayed up all night, stargazing, until the sun started to shine over the horizon. It must be really early, so I got in a confortable position and fell asleep on the roof.
