Chapter 14
Yakunan's POV
We were in the forest, Kakashi on crutches from the battle with Zabuza. "Today, I will be teaching you about charka control." Kakashi informed.
Naruto scratched his head, confusedly. "Um... What's catra?"
Kakashi facepalmed and Sakura hit him on the head. "IDIOT! Its CHAKRA! Geez, what did you do in class all that time?" She scolded and I sweat dropped. My poor ears... Sakura went on and on about the basics of chakra and stuff that was really boring.
I sighed and sat down looking at the sky. The sun was behind me, casting off a large shadow. There was a cloud shaped as a flower. This is why clouds at pretty and can be compared to stars. They can be anything and turn any color at some points, too. Maybe while were here I'll be able to draw some of the sunset. I wonder of there is a shop for that over here. I might not be able to find one, considering the fact that this place is poverty. Maybe I'll ask Tsunami later, she might have some. I wonder if the sunset will turn different colors too. I'm pretty sure I saw some drawing paper in Tazuna house earlier. I'm not sure, I need to ask Tsu—
My thoughts were cut off by a kunai coming my way. Instantly, I took the kunai by the handle and threw the way it came and took out my own kunai and got in a defensive position. I looked where I threw the kunai. I saw Kakashi in the tree, holding a kunai a inch before his face.
"YAKUNAN! ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL KAKASHI-SENSEI!!" Naruto screamed and I flinched and sweat dropped.
'Why did you throw a kunai at me??' I signed to Kakashi.
"Did you not hear anything just said?" He asked incredulously. I laughed nervously and looked away. Kakashi sighed. "Climb the tree. Use a kunai to mark where you left," he said. I shrugged and put my hands up the side of the tree. "Without hands," he added and I frowned and groaned.
I always hated having to do this. I was never able to master this. It's kind if hard having to control both Crimson's, Pure's and my chakra at the same time. I never got to fully master it with Rei either.
I did the hand signs to start and put one foot on the tree. After a few steps, I was pushed back so hard I almost hit the tree behind me, and I left a sizable dent in it too.
"So Sakura's the only one who can actually control her chakra, huh?" Kakashi speculated. "I guess the Uchiha clan isn't all they're cracked up to be, huh? And apparently, Sakura is the closest to becoming Hokage too. And she's the closest to finding a real dream too," Kakashi taunted.
I frowned and rolled my eyes. He's just trying to get us mad. Idiot. I looked over to Sasuke and Naruto, who were now working harder to get up the tree and deadpanned. They actually bought that?! Well, I guess I can't let Duckbutt get better than me. I grinned to myself, and turned to the tree and began to run up it again.
*-*-*-*-*
I sat on the ground, breathing heavily. I looked at the poor tree that I climbed up. It looked ready to drop from the amount of damage l inflicted on it. Sorry tree, again. I looked around me. There were about three or four trees on its side from me trying to climb up it. I made no progress. It will be dark soon, too. Kakashi had sent Sakura to guard Tazuna.
I cursed and got up, but lost my balance and fell again. 'Will you please help, Crimson??'
'Again, no. You need to figure out how to completely balance our on your own.' She said firmly.
I sighed, 'Pure, please.'
'I'm sorry, but I'm not allowed to help either,' Pure said timidly. I hung my head depressed, a gloomy aura radiating off of me. 'AH! DON'T BE SAD, YA-CHAN!' Pure said frantically.
'Can you at least give me a tip?'
'Fine,' Crimson gave in. 'But this is the only one. Gimme control for a second.' I rose an eyebrow. 'I promise not to kill anyone, okay? Sheesh!' I sighed and gave her control over my body. My eyes turned red as Crimson picked up a branch off the forest flooring.
'Look,' she said balancing the stick on my hand. 'In order to keep the stick straight, you have to balance it, right?' I nodded. 'If the stick isn't balanced, it falls.' She picked up two more sticks. 'The more sticks you have, the harder it is to control.' I nodded. 'Think of the sticks as us, and the hand is the tree. What you need to do is focus on one stick at a time.' She set down two sticks. 'Once you're able to focus on one stick, then gradually you'll be able to use the others.' She shakily put the sticks on my hand one by one before finally balancing all three on my hand. 'Get it?'
I grinned. 'That makes a bit more sense, thanks Crimson!'
Crimson grunted. 'Don't mention it, brat. Now leave me alone, I'm going to sleep.' She faded away and fell asleep leaving me and Pure.
'Bye, Yakunan!' She said quietly. 'Good luck~!' She left to leaving me by myself. I looked at the abused tree and closed my eyes. I did the hand signs to concentrate my chakra and delicately separated it from Crimson's and Pure's . After a few minutes I opened my eyes and began to walk up the tree, kunai at ready. I was able to walk a good couple meters higher than my last two points and I smiled.
I jumped off the tree and sat down on the semi-damp grass, breathing heavily. That was really hard to do, since I'm so used to using Crimson's and Pure's chakra. After catching my breath I began to repeat the process of climbing up the tree. As I went I would take a little bit of Crimson's chakra and eventually I was ready to take some of Pure's too.
After a few more hours I looked at the tree. My process had been getting way better. I would carve circles into the tree whenever I used Crimson's or Pure's chakra. There was a bit of balance between lines and circles, signifying my progress.
I inwardly sighed and lied back on the ground. The moon was out and I refused to go inside until I had gotten at least half way up the tree. Naruto and Sasuke were already at Tazuna's house, probably eating. Kakashi left a shadow clone here to watch me, just in case anything were to happen to me. I looked back at the tree. It was already half way through, but I wanna go higher. Meh, food can wait.
I got back up and ran at the tree.
*-*-*-*-* The next morning *-*-*-*-*
I was on the ground, gasping for breath, my chakra completely depleted. The birds chirped loudly, showing the new day. A stick broke next to me and I turned my head. I was face-to-foot with black ninja sandals. I looked back up to see Kakashi's eye looking down at me.
"So this is where you were all night, huh?" He asked and I nodded, not having the energy to do anything else. He eyed me carefully and then the tree. The tree had circles, slashes, and dents everywhere. "You really did a number on that tree..." He commented. "How far did you get?" I smirked slightly and shakily brought my hand up to point to the tree. In the sunlight, if you looked carefully, you could see a small glimmer of light at the top of the tree. If you went up there, you'd see a kunai at the tip-top of the tree. "You got to the top?" I nodded and gave him a thumbs up before passing out, with a small smile on my face.
