CHARLIE
The front gate was hard to bypass. They laced it with silver and a coded lock. We mounted the wall instead. The two wolves that remained on lookout stayed shifted and creating a ladder system by standing on their hind legs. In our human form, the rest of us shifted and climbed their bodies.
We could run fast, sure, tear down enemies with one bite, sure, but jump? Now that was an interesting one. We could jump far, just not high. This wall had to be fifteen feet tall, something we definitely cannot jump over. Call it a wolf's weakness... Jumping!
I chuckled to myself as I pulled myself over the wall and dropped into the deep snow on the other side. My smirk died on my face as quickly as it came, the cold, wet snow soaking into my skin.
I hate snow.
I grumbled, standing up and shaking my arms and body from the clumping ice. Once everyone was down, I rounded them up.
"We take down any enemy until we come across where they are keeping our Luna." I announced, glancing at Alessea.
I was in charge of this group, but Phoenix told me to monitor the Cyrus Lycans. She shuddered as a cold ice blast hit her, but nodded along with the others.
"Good. Let's move."
We kept close to the buildings, walking through small plazas and gardens covered in snow. We came across the first enemy within a couple of minutes; I held my hand up, peering around the building. The figure was dressed in black, standing out brightly against the snow. They wore a weird ass balaclava on their face.
Where had Phoenix brought me? To a cult?
I decided to take this one down myself. Making everyone stay on standby, I slunk forward. Jumping on them from behind, I wrapped my hands around their neck and twisted. The satisfying snap of vampire neck shattered beneath my hands and I dropped their head to the floor. The wind had been to wild to notice before, but as I stared down at the dead body; I knew it was only one thing.
'Alpha. Vampires.' I thought about informing him.
'I thought so.' He grumbled.
I thought so.
I snorted, cocky much?
Too deep in my own thoughts, something suddenly tackled me from behind. I sank all the way into the snow and whoever had me pinned forced the snow over my face, hoping to make me suffocate. A large shrill siren sounded, filling the air and making me wince.
Great. More vamps.
I swatted them blindly, my claws elongating to slash at their skin. Their blood hit my nose, informing me they were a rogue wolf. They were teaming? That was surprising.
I threw the rogue from my body and hastily sat up from the snow. Wiping it from my eyes, I gasped for breath. Damn thing nearly made me eat snow.
My wolf was bristling, ready for the challenge now. As more vampires and wolves came running from many buildings, I felt my hands ache with the need to kill. These wolves took Nova, damn nearly killed me and Pollux, and caused my best damn friend to go psycho. Phoenix hardly went psycho anymore. He was usually calm and collected.
Time for me to go psycho. I mused, charging into the enemy.
My hands sunk into flesh, fighting off whoever and whatever I could as my group battled on around me. I felt blood spray me as I sank my hand into one wolf's chest. A sickening grin formed on my face as their body dropped to the ground.
Axel was revelling in it and I inhaled his power. It had been a while since we fought. A battle with wolves was nothing compared to this. Vampires were a worthy challenge. They were not as fast as us, but they were lithe and bouncy, calling for a great chase.
I loved to chase.
I grinned, my fangs sharpening as I set sight on a vampire pinning Alessea down. My hand wrapped around its shirt, pulling it from her body. If not for her own benefit, for my bloodlust. I felt the haze overcome my mind as we fought. My body flew a few times as they threw me into walls and snow.
More agitated by my wet clothes than the soreness of my neck, I shifted into my wolf. The vampire grinned at me just as I snarled, allowing the red haze to take over.
We tore into wolves, my human instincts floating from my mind. Axel ripped into them, their worthless organs and blood painting the snow a sickening red. I wasn't sure how many he took down, but we had moved considerably far through the complex of the den.
The first wave of enemy died down and I faintly recognised someone trying to communicate with me, but my wolf snarled at them, pushing them away. We swept the area, waiting patiently for another enemy to appear.
My paws crunched in the snow as I made my way around a large building by the front entrance. I paused from emerging when a blur of dark colours appeared in the corner of my eye. Another challenge.
My tail swished with excitement as the vampire hurried towards the gate. It was trying to escape. I crept closer, my head bowed and hackles raised. When I was close enough, I let out a loud growl before darting towards them.
I took them off guard, my claws sinking into their back and tearing apart their flesh. They shrieked beneath me, crying out for help as my teeth tore into the soft part of their neck. With a sick crunch, I tore their head from their body.
Axel loved executing vampires this way. Almost as satisfying as a stake to the heart. The head rolled in the snow, leaving a dark trail of old blood before sinking into its depth. This vampire wouldn't be alone, so I lowered my nose to the ground, searching for any other scents. The wind was against me, blowing my fur to the left.
I looked in its direction, finding a small bungalow with brown brickwork. Beside it, however, I caught a glimpse of shadows moving. An alleyway.
I narrowed my eyes, a low snarl escaping my mouth as I turned around. I bared my teeth, ready to sink into the enemy within seconds. Bunching up my legs, my fur bristled as I caught five scents hiding in the alley. I inhaled deeper when something caught my attention; most of them seemed familiar.
A sudden loud gasp filled the air, and my eyes snapped to the source of the sound. Green met brown, and I froze in surprise. Was that her? It couldn't be? Not this easy?
"Charlie." Her voice was weak, face black and blue.
'Luna.' Axel gasped. 'They hurt her.'
I studied her quickly, taking in her gauntly pale cheeks and shivering body. She had silver wrapped around her, the smell of burning flesh making sense. A growl left my snout and I brace myself to attack.
'Alpha. I found her.' I announced.
His breath quickened, but he was too busy fighting off a hoard of enemy wolves and vamps to reply. I felt wolves come up behind me and noted Alessea on my left and Leo on my right. When did he get here?
Warrior wolves filled in behind me. We had them right where we wanted them.
I snapped my teeth when the first figure came darting out. Just as I lept on it, it sank its claws into my shoulder. My teeth latched around its side and I shook it from my body, drawing blood. I swung the damn thing in my mouth before it let go, only for me to throw it over the wall. I heard my other two wolves outside tear it into pieces.
I smirked smugly and turned to charge for the next victim in the alley. Enemies suddenly filled the open space around me and I growled when I realised they had recruited more whilst I fought the first.
"You will not win."
I turned my gaze to the voice, snarling at the dark figure. He was shrouded in a dark cloak, with dark skin and the brightest eyes. I thought Sean had light eyes, but this man's were nearing white.
A wicked smirk erupted on his face just as the next swarm pounded. My wolves took care of them and I howled, falling into the fight. I ran forwards, heading right towards the alley. I held Nova in my sights. The sight of her fear sent a sharp pain to my chest.
'I will try to get Nova.' I puffed to the pack.
Just as I got close to grabbing the dark man, something tackled me from the side. I snarled, going to push the figure from my body, but they sank their teeth into me. I yelped, scratching and pulling myself away. They took a good chunk of fur and skin with them, the cold biting just as harshly into the open wound.
Turning onto shaky feet, I hesitated at the wolf who stood against me. Dark black fur bristled as they snarled at me. Their eyes were the deepest blue I have ever seen, so dark they could be black. I heard the figure in the alleyway laugh.
Alessea's fur bristled, and I clenched my teeth together. I didn't want to hurt her; I couldn't kill a Lycan. Could I? No. I couldn't. We should interrogate her, yeah that's what-
She confronted me again. Too caught in my wandering thoughts. My wolf growled at me with irritation and I let him take over. We rolled and pinned her, sinking our teeth into her back. She yelped as we tore through her flesh, her blood seeping into my mouth. It tasted revitalising; I could see in that moment how it could turn people to the dark side. I could feel all the cuts healing on my body, a rush of energy.
I released her, something not settling right in my mind. Nova was of the same species. It felt strange to benefit from the fight. She charged and I reared up onto my hind legs.
As soon as she went for my underbelly, I grabbed her by the scruff and yanked her away. She was a fairly small wolf, one that I could lift from the ground. Her claws sank into my chest as I tossed her to the side. She hit the side of a building with force, the brickwork shaking and crumbling.
She whimpered as I stalked forwards, her body shaking. I snarled as I reached her and she weakly attempted to scratch me. I could tell that I had broken her spine and smirked in satisfaction. Snapping my teeth in her face, she yelped in surprise. I didn't go for the kill, instead choosing to whack her head against the building, leaving her unconscious.
That'll teach her.
I gloated for a moment before remembering my true mission. I span back around and charged through the hoard of battle. The shadowed man was wide eyed as I ran towards him and he snapped his fingers, commanding those with him to turn and run. I wouldn't let them get away so easily.
'I'm here.' Phoenix breathed.
'Excellent.' I snarled as I reached the end of the alley.
The shadowed man was rushing down the long alleyway, something too narrow for my wolf to fit into. I didn't want to shift; I could do more damage with teeth. Right now, Axel's advance healing was helping take the edge off the pain and cold.
He would not get away.
