Chapter Seven

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The Fellowship was to leave when the first rays of the sun shone down into the valley. Everyone stood at the south gates and were saying goodbyes. Cody was one of the last people to see them go and she had to push through the crowd to reach them. When she finally got through all of the elves she saw the Fellowship for the first time.

There were two men but she only knew one of them, Strider. The other man had light brown hair that reached his shoulders and a small beard. Legolas was among them and he smiled and waved when he saw her. Gandalf was talking to Lord Elrond in elvish and she could not understand what they were saying. All of the Hobbits were there, even Pippin. She was surprised to see him but then relized that he was, after all, a Took. They were all grouped up, Frodo talking to Sam and Merry standing with Pippin.

When Merry saw her he said something to Pippin and walked towards her.

"So you really aren't coming?" he asked. He said it more like a statement than a question.

"No. I'm staying here in Rivendell or until an elf can take me back to the Shire." She didn't like lying to Merry but she had to if she wanted to keep her plan a secret.

"Merry, where leaving." called Strider.

"Goodbye Cody." They embraced in a hug until Strider called again.

"Merry."

"Bye." she whispered softly. She watched as they made their way to the gates and at the last second she yelled, "Wait!"

The Fellowship turned towards her and she ran as fast as she could towards them. Frodo was at the back of the group and when he saw her running his face lit up. She embraced him in a hug that nearly knocked him over. They both began to weep as they hugged and when they pulled apart they went back into another hug.

"I love you Cody." he breathed in her ear.

"I know, I love you too. Goodbye Frodo."

They stood apart for several heart beats and Cody pushed aside a stray piece of hair that hung in front of his face.

"Guren níniatha n'i lû n'i a-govenitham." he whispered.

"Lá istan quet' Eldarin." she smiled.

All he did was smile and before he could move she said, "Darth." She placed both of her hands gently on the side of his head and stared into his blue eyes. He understood what she was doing and he bowed his head so all she could see were his black curls. She reached up and placed a soft kiss on his head. They hugged one last time and finally he turned to go and she had to let go of him.

As they passed through the gates Cody sunk down on her knees and watched the large gates close behind them. Just before the gates closed Frodo turned around one last time and watched her until his sight of her was cut off.

"You will see him again." someone whispered.

She looked up to see Camiliia standing beside her.

"Love as strong yours can never stay apart for long." With that she turned around and Cody saw that she carried a bow identical to the one Legolas had. She stayed there for an hour and when she stood up the back of her knees burned and stretched as she straightened to her full height.

"Sílo Anor bo men lín." she called to the Fellowship. She knew that they could not hear her but she felt better saying it than let it be unsaid. As she turned to leave the splinter grew inside of her so quickly she did not feel anything as the lights went out and she fell to the ground.

This is what Frodo and Cody said to each other in elvish:

"My heart shall weep until I see you again." he whispered.

"I don't speak Elvish." she smiled.

"May the sun shine on your path." she called to the Fellowship.
