Chapter Two: Attacked
(Song above is Ready For War Dannsonbeats)
Harlock's POV
I told Yulian to prepare the ship for battle and told Kei to get the crew ready for battle. I of course left the bridge and went back to my room, to find a still sleeping Logan lying on his stomach on my bed. The sheets were tangled around him and I smiled to myself.
He must've really been tired. I observed every outline in his face, studied his hair, and admired his beauty. I say on the bed and ran my fingers through his hair, earning a slight moan and he shifted slightly giving me this "problem".
I leaned down and whispered in his ear, "Sweetheart wake up."
Logan groaned and blinked his eyes open, turning to look at me. "Why?"
I started to tell him when the ship was hit. The ship shook so violently that Logan fell out of the bed. I heard a loud thump as his head hit the floor and I stood up, helping him to his feet. He rubbed the back of his head wincing.
"Who's attacking us?!" Logan exclaimed.
"Your brother." I simply state and Logan's eyes widened before narrowing in anger.
"That little shit." Logan says. The ship shuddered as it took another hit. Logan and I stumbled out into the hall and we started running for the bridge. Halfway there an explosion rocked the ship once more and Logan was thrown to the side by the force of the shaking.
I ran to his side, kneeling beside him and inspecting him for any serious injuries. His forehead was bleeding a little from a small cut but he was otherwise unscathed.
"Come on Logan. We need to get to the bridge." I say and grabbed his hand pulling him back to his feet.
We sprinted down the corridor and and just as we were about to enter the bridge, Ezra Takiama walked through a port in front of us, smirking. I pushed Logan behind me and pulled my ghost saber from its sheath.
"Hello Logan." Ezra said, slowly.
Logan stayed silent behind me and that was when I saw that Ezra had use of his legs again. Logan noticed it too and he gasped.
"Your legs..."
Ezra laughed. "Yeah. While you've been shacking up on the Arcadia I've been looking for ways to get my legs back. And I have." He glared at Logan with hatred only someone without a heart could have. "And now I can take my revenge. Myself."
The couple dozen men he had behind him moved forward to attack and I pushed Logan further out of the way as I ran to meet them head on.
Logan's POV
I couldn't believe my brother had his legs back. He wasn't paralyzed anymore. But if that was the case...what was he going to do?
Ezra stomped towards me and I pulled my blaster, pointing it at him. I didn't want to hurt him because no matter what he was still my brother. But he didn't feel that way.
I fired a warning shot but he just kept coming. "Stop or I'll shoot you."
Ezra shook his head, pulling a light saber out. "No you won't. You can't."
I backed away, knowing he was right and but if he was going to kill me what choice did I have?
I fired again, his time hitting the hand holding the sword. The saber went flying from his fingers and he looked at me impressed. More like amused. I looked past Ezra and saw Harlock fighting Ezra's coalition soldiers.
The ship shook with an explosion and I lost my balance, falling over. When I landed on my side, the blaster fell out of my hand and skittered away. I began to get to my feet when a sudden kick to my stomach sent me back down.
I groaned, sucking in a sharp breath of air. I was pushed onto my back and I found myself staring right into Ezra's face. He kicked me again in the side and I gritted my teeth against the pain. I kicked him hard in the knee and he went down hard.
I rolled away from him, jumping to my feet and I ran for my blaster. Ezra, who had always been faster than I was, recovered just as fast and grabbed my ankle, pulling me to the floor.
I flipped onto my back and tried to kick him in the face but he grabbed my other foot and dragged himself on top of me.
"Get off of me!" I shouted, struggling underneath him. I swung my arm up to punch him in the face but he caught my wrist and pinned it to my side, along with my other one.
"Tell me..why does Harlock care so much about what happens to you? After all you were working for Gaia Coalition before you defected." Ezra wanted to know.
If I told him the truth he'd use it against me. Against us. And I didn't want that to happen. So I lied.
"I don't know." I say.
Ezra narrowed his eyes at me and I brought my knee up into his private area. He groaned but didn't let me go. In fact his grip tightened and he pinned my wrists above my head with one hand and used the other to pull out a small knife.
I stared up at my brother my eyes wide with fear. I couldn't deny it. I was scared. Of my own flesh and blood. Of my own brother.
Ezra put the knife to my neck and glared down at me. I leveled my eyes with his and tried my best not to show my fear.
"If you're gonna kill me, then do it." I tell him.
"Oh believe me. I'm going to do a lot more than kill you." Ezra said smugly. "I'm going to make you suffer as I did."
I swallowed nervously and Harvick was suddenly there, with his saber at Ezra's throat.
Harlock's face was filled with anger and he said in a low calm voice that he only used when he was infuriated. "You will not harm a hair on his head because of you do, you'll have a knife in your back. Do you understand?"
I look between Ezra and Harlock and back again, waiting for one to make the first move. Ezra glowered at me and slowly let go of my wrists and moved away from me.
I scramble to my feet and Harlock walks over to me, checking me over for injuries.
"I'm fine." I kept repeating over and over again until he was sure of it. Harlock passed his hand over his face and said,
"Are you sure?" He asked. I nodded. Harlock sighed and kissed my cheek.
We turned to face Ezra, who was staring at us with eyes bigger than saucers. He began stuttering.
"Y--you...and him...are together? Like...a couple?" We just stared at him. "That's why he cares so much about you! You woven yourself deep into his heart!
I glanced at Harlock, casting my eyes downwards when he looked at me. The way he was looking at me...told me that he wanted to kill Ezra right now and take me to a private room.
"It does not matter if we are together." Harlock says. "Where you're going you won't be able to hurt Logan."
"Oh I think it does matter. Now I know your weakness...my brother!" Ezra laughed. "Killing two birds with one stone. This'll be fun."
"Nothing's going to be fun because you're not getting out of here alive!" Harlock raises his voice slightly.
I rest my hand on his shoulder to try and calm him down because when Harlock was angry so was the ship. Harlock looked at me and relaxed slightly.
"Ezra wants to make you angry. Don't give him the satisfaction." I say with a small smile.
"Coalition...go after my brother! Take him aboard the Oceanus." Ezra shouted to the remaining soldiers.
I narrowed my eyes at them and I felt Harlock's hand curl around mine. He's shaking and growling and so is the ship. The ship starts to shudder and shake as Harlock becomes angry.
"Stay Back!" Harlock yells at the soldiers. None listen to him, and that proves to be their doom.
A soldier somehow snuck up behind me and hit me over the head. I staggered forward, groaning in pain and I got hit again. This time harder and I fell, a surprised and painful yelp escaping my lips.
Landing on my stomach, pain filling my head I start to black out. I fight to stay awake for Harlock and it was working but then I was hit once more and everything goes red then fades to black.
Harlock's POV
I see Logan fall out of the corner of my eye and I see him struggling to stand up but then he gets hit again and stays down. I began running at the soldier that had attacked the love of my life and I roared,
"STAY AWAY FROM LOGAN!!!"
The soldier looks up briefly, enough time to see his life flash before his eyes and then he's dead. Struck down by my ghost saber.
I crouch beside Logan. He's unconscious and bleeding excessively from the back of his head. I slide my arms carefully behind his knees and head, and very gently lift him up. Just because he wasn't awake didn't mean he couldn't feel pain.
I let a couple of my crew member deal with Ezra and I rushed to the med bay. Sprinting down the corridors with the love of my life in my arms, badly hurt I was faced with humanity. His humanity. His mortality. Logan wasn't immortal like I was. He could die just like anyone else. He couldn't heal.
When I reached the med bay I was nearly in tears because everything that ran through my head was true. Logan could die at anytime. Either from something natural, and accident, or by someone's hand.
"Alex, you have to do something." I say laying Logan down on one of the beds. "He needs help. C--can you--"
Alex smiled and nods. "You don't have to ask."
I smile at him. A real smile. I really hoped Logan would be okay.
