The Dragon Boss
The green dragon laid at the center of the room, probably sleeping. I stared at it with wide eyes.
Was it real? Wait, I remember seeing the same dragon when we came in.
"Y-Yao, t-this is..." I clutched his sleeves.
"Don't worry, aru. He won't hurt you," he assured me.
"But―"
The dragon let out a soft groan and slowly got up. It turned its head towards our direction and shot us an intimidating glare.
I grasped onto Yao and hid my face in his chest. I was scared beyond my wits at this point.
"What are you two getting lovey-dovey in front of me for?" it said in a male voice.
It can talk?!
"Aiyah, we aren't, aru! You're scaring her!" Yao retorted.
I slowly lifted my head to look up at the dragon.
It was staring at me, curiously. "Are you afraid of me, little lady?" it asked.
I nodded, still scared.
It heaved a deep breath. "Just because I'm a dragon, doesn't mean I will eat you. Look, you're standing beside a four thousand year old ancient," he said, pointing at Yao.
"Don't make me sound old, aru!" he fumed.
Their bickering made me giggle a bit, gradually letting go of my fear.
The dragon gave a look of relief. "Good that you can finally laugh. I wanted to see that," it said.
"But why did you want to see me, if I may ask?" I finally mustered the courage to ask him.
The dragon gave a hearty laugh. "Don't be so polite with me. Did you know how many stuffed toys I ruined of your little lover?"
I smiled.
That was really cute. Yao seemed to have a good relationship with― Wait, lover??
My cheeks burned red.
"I-I...Yao and I..." I stammered.
I glanced at Yao. His face held a deep blush too. He seemed to want to argue against it, but couldn't.
Yao...did he really think of me like that?
His boss finally let out loud chuckle. "Look at you both, still being shy from each other." Then clearing his throat, he added. "I was just kidding, don't get too worked up over it."
We lowered our head and gave a glance to each other. My heart throbbed as Yao's brown eyes met with mine.
"Anyways―"
The dragon spoke again in a booming voice this time.
"It was nice to see you both but now I have to go back to sleep. A dragon's sleep is heavier than a mountain."
"Aiyah, why did you even have to call us here then, aru! (Y/n), let's go!" Yao took my hand and led me out the door.
"(Y/n)..."
A voice rang in my head.
Wasn't that the dragon's voice? But it didn't sound as loud and boastrous as it was before...it felt more like a fatherly tone.
"Take care of him..."
A smile crossed my lips. I looked at Yao who walked in front of me.
"I will..."
We got into the elevator and headed towards the ground floor. Yao pouted the whole way down.
I giggled. "Yao, it was fun meeting him," I said.
"But he had to say random stuff like that, aru," he said, still pouting.
"Random stuff like?" I asked him.
"Random stuff like calling―" he stopped. A deep blush spread on his cheeks again. He averted his eyes and hesitated to continue.
I took his hand. "Yao."
He slowly turned to me, blushing.
I looked at him with determined eyes. My face felt hot and my heart raced in my chest, but I wanted to know his answer.
"Yao, what do you feel about me?"
