Jungkook stared at the clock, seeing it was past midnight. He had laid wide awake all that time. Sitting up he turned off the alarm he set and turned on his lamp. Looking out the window he saw the car in the driveway, meaning Jihoon must've returned home.
He looked over the written directions again and put them in his pocket, along with the letter he wrote. Putting on his shoes and thick hoodie and taking a deep breath he tried to let go of some anxiety.
Opening the window, the cold air abused his cheeks.
"Oh gosh, wow its cold." He muttered.
Hunching over and climbing out he pulled the window down, still leaving enough space for him to easily pull it up when he got back. Stepping on the roof he realized how steep it was, he crouched down and slowly crawled to the other side of the roof.
His foot lost traction and he tensed up as he slipped. Pulling his way closer to the house he sighed, his heart beating out of his chest from the scare. Once he got to the flat section Jungkook relaxed and quickly found his way to the ladder.
He turned around and stepped on the first bar of the ladder. Gripping the sides as he descended to the ground with each footstep. Forgetting about the fence he shook his head. Reaching up, he grabbed the top of the fence and lifted his body up before swinging his legs over and landed on the ground. It wasn't as agile as he had planned but he was on the other side and that's what mattered.
Walking to the street he had quick long strides, he wanted to get there and get back. It was very dark out and he hadn't been out in the real world in over eight years. It'd be a lie to say he wasn't scared out of his mind. It was an abundance of times Jungkook fearfully turned around and looked over his shoulder, making sure no one was following him.
The twenty minute walk seemed like twenty centuries. While the cold air assaulted any exposed skin his mind was filled with frets and fears.
A loud beep of a horn scared him and took a few years off his life, Jungkook turned around seeing an angry driver and quickly hopped onto the safety of the sidewalk. He got out of the developments and saw the bright city lights of Seoul.
Pulling out the wrinkled paper in his pocket he looked to see which street he needed to look out for next.
When he finally arrived he sighed in relief. Walking inside he saw more people than he liked, the loud chatter already overwhelmed him. Why were so many people here?
"You can just sign in on your phone and fill out a form, thats what they told us to do." A middle-aged man told him.
"Oh." He nodded.
Walking up to the counter where he saw a woman he felt his palms getting sweaty.
"Excuse me," He said, barely audible.
"We're really busy. Can you go sit down for a few minutes and I'll call you soon?" She asked.
"Uh, I just need a moment. I need help, please."
Someone shouted for the woman and waved to her to come back, it seemed urgent and she told him to hold on before running back. Jungkook sighed and looked down.
Neither him or Yuri were more than an arms length apart ever. Being away from her gave him immense stress, anxiety and fear. His only thoughts were about her, he could even feel himself sweating as he got himself worked up.
What if Jihoon found out he left and went and hurt her, or worse. "What if's" overflowed in his mind as his breathing accelerated. Leaning against the counter he noticed his arms trembling.
Feeling dizzy he gripped the counter, taking multiple deep breaths.
"Are you okay?" Someone asked.
"Yeah." He shakily said, as his unsteady breaths continued. The pressure in his chest felt unbearable.
"My coworker said you needed help."
"Yeah."
The woman walked behind the counter and sat at the desk. A man, who Jungkook presumed was her significant other, came and kissed her neck.
"See you at home?" He asked her, he couldn't help but stare at his brightly colored red hair.
"Yes baby. I'm right behind you." She replied.
"I'm Ara, and you are?"
"Jeon Jungkook."
"Okay, how can I help you?"
"Umm, I-" He saw everything go black as he grabbed onto the counter.
Ara saw him nearly fall to the ground and jumped up, rushing to the other side. A male police officer passing by quickly grabbed Jungkook. Struggling to open his eyes Jungkook blankly stared, disorientation took over as tried to regain control.
"Yuri?" He mumbled.
Realizing where he was and what happened he tried to snap out of it.
"Hey, do you know where you are?" The man asked.
"Yes, yes," He pulled away, forcing himself to stand on his own feet.
All eyes were on him, and he hated that. It made him more anxious inside.
"Can we just finish this please, I need to go soon." He said.
"Why don't we have a paramedic check you out?" Ara suggested.
"No! I'm fine. Here, take this." He pulled the letter out of his pocket and handed it to her.
He looked at the door seeing where it was.
"I can't stay here." He quickly said, before making a run for it.
He rushed out the door and turned the corner at the nearest street and bent down hiding behind a car. Looking down he clutched his chest while sighing catching his breath. After a few moments, he stood up and made his way back to Yuri.
_________
"That was odd wasn't it Ara?" Sunho asked her.
"Very." She replied, they couldn't find him outside, he had already vanished.
"What did the letter say?"
"I'm about to read it."
While opening it she pulled it out and carefully read every line. She was shocked after reading it, and puzzled at the same time.
"Here." She handed it to Sunho, sitting at the desk.
She quickly started searching for reported kidnappings around that time. Finding Jungkook she stared at the picture, seeing a resemblance.
"You think this is legit?" Sunho looked at her.
"I'm treating it like it is. Who comes in the middle of the night to say something like this? He was having a panic attack, extremely nervous, pacing, heavy breathing, it's as if he's never been in public."
"Okay."
"Look, this is the girl he talked about. She's only 16 and pregnant. . ."
"Wow, man. Are you taking this to chief?"
"Yes. If everything he says is true we need to get them out of there as soon as possible. I can rush a search warrant and go in the morning with my husband."
"Good."
____________
Jungkook got over the fence and climbed the ladder while breathing heavily, out of breath. His tired limbs barely carried him. To ease his worried mind he took the extra mile to go and peek into Yuri's window, seeing her peacefully sleeping under the covers.
Returning to his room he used all his strength to lift the window, which screeched like coathangers on a metal rack. Rushing inside he closed the window, took off his shoes and collapsed in bed.
The only thing he wanted was to be with Yuri while she wrapped her arms around him like she did and stared into his eyes, telling him everything was okay. He still had an adrenaline rush and couldn't relax.
His mind and body were exhausted but he laid wide awake. While hoping for the best he tried to warm himself up, wrapping his arms around himself. Forcing himself up he pulled the heater closer to his bed, knowing he'd soon regret it, waking up sweating.
Looking at the cut out picture of him and Yuri when they were 12 he grinned.
"I did it, I think?" He muttered to himself.
In his head he told himself it was only a matter of time before his hopes and dreams could become a reality. But the most important thing would be that his family could be safe.
_________
He eventually did fall asleep, after warming himself up. But a loud obnoxious beeping noise woke him up.
"Oh god, what now?" He sighed, sitting up.
Jungkook assumed the fire alarm detector was acting up again, begging for new batteries like last time. It was only a matter of time before Sooyoung would wake up and take out the batteries so they could finish their peaceful night of slumber.
Turning over he covered his head with a pillow, drowning out the sounds with his soft snores.
Sorry for posting a lil late :/
