Chapter Four
When Jihoon got back Sooyoung and him went to the store together, since Sooyoung said they had to 'talk about something.'
"Jungoo." Yuri called his name from her room.
"What?" He walked through her door.
"We're getting older. . ."
"Yes we are, what do you mean?"
"What are they gonna do with you once we're adults? Are they just gonna keep us here forever?"
"We won't have to find that out. I promise you in a few months we won't be here. I just have to figure out where we can go."
"Okay."
"Don't stress about it."
"You don't think he would-"
"No! Yuri, don't worry. I'm not gonna let him hurt you."
"I know. But what if he hurts you instead?"
"I'm okay as long as you're okay."
"Wait, I forgot! I have to see if it works." Jungkook rushed across the hallway, trying to drop the previous subject.
He went to Sooyoung and Jihoons bedroom door and looked at the keypad on the door. Pulling out the note with the code on it he put in the exact numbers. Hearing the quiet beep he smiled and opened the door while Yuri followed him.
"What are we looking for?" Yuri asked.
"I don't know anything." Jungkook replied.
Sooyoung's side of the room looked very neat while the other side wasn't as clean. Jungkook opened their dresser drawers and sifted through everything.
"Yuri!" He said she didn't notice, he tapped her back making her turn around.
"Check Sooyoung's drawers and see if you find anything."
Yuri nodded and started looking through her drawers. At the bottom of one she felt a few sheets of paper. Pulling it out she unfolded it and sighed seeing it. There were two flyers about two missing children.
"Jungoo, look, it's us." She muttered and showed him.
Seeing his facial expression she could tell it saddened him. She saw him sigh loudly and he nodded. He didn't want her to continue to read the flier. Taking it from her hands, he folded it up and handed it to her. Using his head to point to the nightstand, Jungkook looked at her, signaling her to put it back. And Yuri did of course.
"I can't remember my parents very well, Jungkook." She said.
"They'll always be in your heart. It's not your fault, you were so young." He signed and spoke.
"You remember yours better, why?"
"I don't know. It's not like I remember that much Ri. But I know they were good people, I remember the happy stuff, and the time I cheated on a test and my mom smacked my butt." He chuckled in the end.
She smiled and got back to looking through the room. She looked through the closet seeing nothing. Sighing she opened the nightstand drawer, everything was neatly organized.
"I found a phone."
Jungkook walked behind her and picked it up.
"She'll notice if we take it won't she?" He signed.
Yuri nodded and pointed to Jihoons side of the room. Jungkook ran and rummaged through everything. Opening the closet he looked at the top and saw a phone on the front of the box. He reached up and grabbed it, inside was the last model of the phone they had.
Hearing the door open, Jungkook's head turned. Shoving the box back on the shelf in the closet he shut the closet door. He grabbed Yuri and rushed out of the door, closing it quietly behind him.
Jungkook handed her the phone and nodded, telling her to go to her room and hide it.
Walking down the stairs, he grabbed the bag from Jihoon and mumbled a thank you. Returning to Yuri he walked up the stairs and opened the bag, but before he could grab the cold medicine he noticed something else.
A pregnancy test.
He tilted his head and raised his eyebrow. They mentioned nothing to him and Yuri, which meant it had to be for Sooyoung? If they were suspicious about Yuri being pregnant it would surely have been known to the whole household.
Pulling it out he heard Sooyoung rushing up the stairs, going blank and not knowing what to do he shoved it in his pants.
"Let me see that bag real quick Jungkook." She said.
"Why?" He asked.
"There was something in here." She pulled out the cold medicine, seeing the bag was empty.
"Nothing was in there?"
"No. What are you looking for?"
"Great, must've forgotten it at the store." Sooyoung muttered.
Taking the bag with her, so he wouldn't see the receipt she walked down the stairs.
Oh god if she's pregnant that poor child. He thought.
It didn't surprise him as he thought about it. Since Sooyoung had always wanted her own child; he just wasn't aware she was possibly trying to conceive, again.
Walking into Yuri's door he handed her the medicine. He saw she didn't feel well and it wasn't time to burden her with the worries of a pregnancy test, or the information about Sooyoung possibly being pregnant.
"You'll feel better soon." He signed.
Since they never left the house, or came in contact with other human beings their immune system was very weak and fragile. Even a common cold took a big toll on them.
"Did you eat? No right?" He asked.
She shook her head.
"You have to eat before you take the medicine. What do you want?" Jungkook sat next to her.
"Ice cream?" She smiled.
"How about soup first?"
"Fine Mom."
He playfully pushed her on the bed. Seeing her sit back up he leaned in and attacked her lips with a quick peck.
"Your lips are like crispy saltine crackers." He pulled back.
"What?"
"You need chapstick. I have some on my lips,"
He leaned in, connected his lips to hers. Yuri tilted her head to side as Jungkook deepened the kiss, his arm wrapping tightly around her waist. Sucking on her bottom lip he heard Yuri let a moan slip out. Jungkook slid his tongue across her bottom lip trying to take it further; a lot further.
She put her hand on his chest telling him to stop. Yuri reached over and grabbed her chapstick, applying it to her lips.
"You're no fun." Jungkook sighed.
"We've had plenty of fun together, Jungkook. I was breathing through my mouth, I can't breathe and mom and Jihoon are downstairs."
"I know, I know."
"You look tired, I'll get us soup, you just sit down." Yuri told him.
She walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. Pulling out two bowls, she looked through the cabinets, the only thing she could find was two instant ramen cups both chicken flavored.
Yuri put his cup in the microwave while she went in the fridge and grabbed two bottles of water. Seeing movement in the reflection she turned around to see Jihoon.
"Did you take the medicine?" He said loudly, enunciating each syllable so she could understand him.
Since he never took the time to properly learn sign language.
"No, Jungoo reminded me we need to eat first. He looked tired so I said I would make it." She said while doing the signs.
"Go upstairs, I'll make the second one and bring it to you both."
"Thank you." She did the sign for it and he nodded.
Meanwhile Jungkook rushed to his room, he pulled the pregnancy test out of his pocket. He opened his dresser drawer and shoved it to the bottom. Since the change of him having to do his own laundry, there wasn't a chance anyone would go in there.
Covering it over with messily folded clothes he shut the drawer. He walked back down and into Yuri's room seeing her sit on the bed.
"Jihoon is making and bringing it." She said.
Jungkook raised his eyebrow.
"Are you sure he isn't putting antifreeze in it? Or arsenic? Something toxic at least." Jungkook sat next to her.
"No, he offered." Yuri replied.
"My gosh why does he like you so much? Like I know why, you're my princess but like I swear everytime he looks at me he plans how he would kill me in my sleep." Jungkook replied.
"I wish he was nicer to you but. . . . His father must've been really hard on him and thats why he's this way to you."
"I'm not his son and you're not his daughter."
"I know."
"Ri have you gotten-"
The door opened and Jihoon walked in, with the food tray Sooyoung always used.
"Here I thought it would be easier to bring it." He said.
"Mm, thanks." Jungkook mumbled. "Where's Sooyoung?"
"She ran back to the store real quick."
"For what?"
"Toiletries and just women stuff."
"Women stuff?"
"Yeah you know."
I'm not that dumb. Jungkook thought.
"Okay."
Jihoon left and Yuri looked at Jungkook, wanting him to translate every word he said.
"It was nothing. Sooyoungs at the store again." He signed.
"Why?" Yuri shoved a mouthful of ramen in her mouth.
"He won't tell. He lied to me saying "Women stuff". I'm not that dumb."
"Maybe it's her time of the month."
"I doubt it."
After they both took a few spoonfuls of the salty soup, Jungkook reached over for the cold medicine. He opened it up and took a swig of it.
"Jungkook!" She said, smacking his shoulder.
"What? I just want to feel better." He signed.
Yuri shook her head and took the bottle from him, using the small cup to get the proper amount.
"Ah, it tastes disgusting. They don't know what real fruit tastes like." He cringed.
"It never taste good." She replied.
