I couldn't sleep the entire night as the thought kept haunting me. I was panicking so much it was really getting unbearable. It was around 2 am when I felt a knock and I instantly hugged Idina and didn't leave her. She probably didn't wake up because of the knock, it was me who woke her up because of hugging her so abruptly.
"Ah... Wha... Chris.. ??" She said so sleepily rubbing her eye. Though I was so tensed with situation but still couldn't help adoring her, she looked so cute half asleep.
"There was a knock at the door." I said.
"Don't be silly kiddo there's no knocking." She said firmly.
"I swear there was! I promise!"
"Babe relax okay? If there was a knock the person would knock again wouldn't they?" She said trying to comfort me.
"Yeah... but..."
"Love don't worry! Nothing going to happen! I won't leave you. The events of the past won't occur again! Nothing's going to separate us! Okay?" She said.
"But.."
"Chris..!"
"Okay..." I trailed off.
"Now sleep and let me sleep too." She kissed my head and laid back in bed.
"Well can I at least hold your hand..?" I asked embarrassed at sounding so childish.
She just smiled and intertwined her fingers with mine which felt ever so comforting. I finally slept for a while.
The next day I woke up with a rush of panic as it was only 6 am and there was no Idina next to me.
"Mom!! Mom!!" I rushed out of bed in search of her.
"Idina!! Please where are you!??!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.
"Hey what's wrong?" A sleepy Lucas appeared.
"I can't find Idina!" I said tears brimming in my eyes at the thought of loosing her again.
"Hey! Hey! Relax!" He said.
"I don't want to loose her Lucas!"
"Listen!! Did you check the bathroom?"
"No I didn't.."
"Well....?"
And just then she appeared looking tense.
"Chris are you okay I heard you screaming!?!"
"Where were you?? Why did you leave!?!?"
"Chris I went to pee." She said with an eyebrow raised.
"Oh.. Did you?"
"Yes. Yes I did Chris."
"How was it?" I asked without thinking.
"Are you even... " She just said almost about to laugh.
"Sorry I panicked.. Hehe"
"No kidding!" Lucas and Idina said in union.
"Fine. I said I'm sorry! Go to bed already." I said whining knowing I was being stupid. I needed to think of something to cover up.
"I just wanted to make sure you didn't leave for work or something without me wishing. So... Happy Birthday!!" I said and ran back to my room before anything else could be said.
"Silly girl.. What am I going to do without her.." I heard Idina saying to Lucas before I closed the door to my room.
We all went to our own rooms this time. Although Idina came back and kept asking over and over if I was sure I didn't want to sleep with her. Of course I wanted to but I didn't want to disturb her anymore.
As soon as I felt that everyone was back to their rooms to sleep I got up to check on the things and prepare for Idina's birthday.
I went to Lucas's room. Knocked twice just to be sure to show I didn't just barged in and then I actually barged in.
"Lucas wake up!!!! Wake up!! Wake up!!"
"Christina go back to sleep."
"Don't you dare expect me to say the line from Frozen!"
Of course I love the movie but Lucas was a fan on a whole new level.
"You know I'm not getting out of bed Chris. Not before......" He smirked.
"The sky is awake so I'm awake we have to play." I said in monotone and rolled my eyes.
"So what do you want?" He said getting up satisfied with getting the frozen references.
"We need to prepare for her birthday! Before she wakes up!" I exclaimed.
"Okay so what do you want me to do?"
"Get your lazy self out the freaking bed! I really don't get what happened to your mind reading abilities. I mean you used to know things before I said and now even when I'm telling you, you don't get them." I said crossing my hands over my chest.
"I'm up! I'm up! I'm up! Stop scolding me young missy don't forget I'm older then you."
"Yeah.. Yeah.. What ever.." I said and continued.
"Okay so I'm going to go prepare breakfast for Idina and serve it to her in bed. I want you to first get me these things." I said handing him the list I made of things I needed to prepare breakfast.
"You sure that these aren't in the pantry? I mean you are asking me to bring sugar?? You didn't check in the pantry did you?"
"Give it back to me!" I said snatching the list back.
"Lazy bum!" He said.
"Look who's saying.." I retorted
"Now I want you to go and check if the venue is ready and ..." I trailed off.
"And??" He asked.
"Just get a tad bit of security... Just to be sure... Don't want anything to happen today.. Want to make today a perfect day for her." He nodded understandingly.
"We are making today a perfect day for youuuu!!!!"
"Gosh Lucas stopppp.. You sound like hyenas crying when they are starving or something!!"
He gave me deadly look.
"Go.." I said making hand gestures and handing him the car keys which he snatched and walked out of the room.
Now it was me and breakfast, which I had no idea how to make. Well I can make pancakes. Well what to do you expect I am Idina Menzel's daughter.
I walked into the kitchen. And started fixing breakfast for her.
It took me a full 2 hours to fix her breakfast. Well it actually took only 30 minutes to cook but figuring out what was what and cleaning up was a difficult task. So I set the tray. I put the pancakes, maple syrup, a cup of tea and the bouquet and went toward her room.
I knocked a couple of times to make her wake up.
"Com.. In...." A sleepily Idina mumbled.
"Wakey wakey sleepy head. Happy birthday." I walked in.
"Wow." Idina said wide eyed astonished at my attempt at cooking.
"Did you actually just make breakfast and brought it in bed for me? Somebody pinch me please."
"Don't overreact please." I said rolling my eyes.
"Alrighty then. What did you make for me?" She said going all excited.
"Pancakes and tea. Oh and there is maple syrup too." I said proudly.
"Okay let's have a bite now. I hope I don't die." She said teasingly and I just gave her the look.
She took a bite and started chewing with her jaw bone going round and up. I was dying because of her stunning face. I wonder how many fanzels would die after seeing.... Idina making a big effort in trying to swallow the pancakes. Oh she's making a face worse then she made for the wasabi rolls.
"How are they?" I said nervously. She just nodded.
"They are great sweetheart I love them." It was clear she was lying.
"Mum don't lie..."
"No I love them! In fact I'm going to finish the entire thing....??" She said which sounded more like a question.
"But I want you to taste them too." She said smirking. I knew I had made something dreadful.
"Okay...?" I said unsurely. She made a big bite for me and stuffed the entire thing in my mouth.
Now when I started chewing it was okay at the beginning because I couldn't taste it but when I could I ran to the bathroom to throw the bite out.
"How did you even swallow that!!! Grossssssss!!!"
And she was laughing hysterically.
"You know what mother?" I said mischievously.
"What?" She said getting afraid because she knew I had something going on.
"First let me take a piece out for Lucas, we'll prank him." I said whilst taking a bit out in a separate plate.
"Now we can't eat these pancakes can we?"
"Well... I mean.." Idina trailed off
"But we can do this!!" I said throwing a handful at Idina.
"FOOD FIGHT!!!" We both screamed together. And the rest you probably know how it went.
