Chapter Six

Ezra's P.O.V.

We took off running, with Kanan in front of me.

This was starting to remind me of something.

Something..recent.

Kanan looks behind him and says, "Come on Kid, don't want to keep Hera waiting."

I almost stopped, shocked.

"My dream." I realized.

"What?" Kanan asked, before suddenly the ship jolted.

"Never mind, that'll have to wait- They're here!" He yells, before picking up his pace.

Now, I begin to struggle to keep up with him, the pain in my back returning.

My eyesight almost dims, before I begin to blink continuously.

"Hurry up, Kid! We have to make it to the TIE fighters and then you can take a nap!" He yells, looking back.

I nod, running faster.

"It's just through them doors." I point out.

We make it, and I lean on my knees, panting.

Kanan groans, and I look up.

There's no TIEs.

"The..coms." I pant.

He nods, "I should be able to get through if we go to the control center."

The ship jolts again, the lights flickering.

We don't have long.

I take the armor off, leaving the long black shirt underneath on and feeling the familiar feel of sticky blood on the back of the shirt.

The ship is semi-evacuated by now, most of the guards gone so we just walk into the control center.

Kanan walks over to the coms and after trying to reach the ship for a few minutes, begins talking to someone code named Spector Two, which I'm guessing is Hera, so I feel my right pocket and sigh in relief when I feel the info drive still there.

"Kanan, we need to hurry." I'm still panting, and I've moved to sit in one of the chairs.

Kanan looks over, and must be able to tell I'm unwell because he nods and turns back to the coms.

"Spector Two, there are no TIEs, you'll have to-"

Suddenly, just as the power shuts off, a ship pulls into the TIE section.

"You good kid?" Kanan asks.

I nod.

"We should go before we're blown to bits. That wouldn't feel good." I say sarcastically, but as soon as I stand up, my back begins to burn worse than ever.

It's probably infected.

I cough to cover up a scream, but based on Kanans face he heard it.

"What's wrong? Did one of them shoot you?" He asks, his hands hovering over me.

I shake my head, gesturing to my back.

"Just a..scratch." I pant, due to the pain.

He rolls his eyes.

"Right."

The ship jerks again and the small ship that arrived a couple minutes earlier opens to reveal Hera and a pretty girl.

Kanan looks at the monitors that signal the intense heat waves that mean the ship is soon going to blow, and he helps me up, making me whine in protest, before putting my arm over him to use as a crutch and walking out of the control room towards the ship.

Kanan hurriedly(as quick as he can with an injured kid) walks into the ship as I focus on walking beside him.

Hera and the pretty girl meet us half way onto the latch and Hera runs up to Kanan.

"Kanan, I was so worried. I thought you weren't gonna get back in time-" Hera rambles before I cut her off.

"You didn't miss me?" I slur out, feeling blood pour down my back.

The coms come on and a droids buzzing can be heard.

"Guys, Choppers right. This things about to blow." The girl says, turning around and running up the latch.

She disappears from view as she climbs up a yellow ladder and I feel slightly disappointed before Hera nods, looking as serious as ever.

"Do you have him, Kanan?" She asks.

I shake my head.

"I'm good, just felt bad earlier." I let go of Kanan and slowly start walking up the latch, trying not to wince with every step.

Hera and Kanan quickly walk past me, before Kanan groans and walks back.

"What-"
Kanan picks me up, slinging me over his shoulder and making me groan again.

Welcome back to Freedom.

I roll my eyes.

I sat in the med bay, Hera behind me patching up my wounds.

Again.

Once again I owed her my life.

And once you owe someone your life- you can't unowe it.

Hera has plans on dropping me off back on Lothal- soon.

I still can't get earlier out of my head though.

I had dreamed something.

And it came true.

"Hey Hera?.." I asked.

"Hm?"

"Do you believe in psychics?" I ask, feeling stupid.

She pauses for a minute, before wiping some salve on my back.

"No, why?"

I shrug as best I can.

"I just..I had a dream.."

"Oh?" She asks.

"Never mind. It's stupid. Forget about it." I say, hopping down and facing her as she finishes.

Hera crosses her arms.

"Ezra, I know you'll only be on The Ghost for a short time, but don't feel shy. Come to me or Kanan if you ever need to talk or anything." She says, placing a hand on my shoulder.

I nod, staring up at her.

"Thanks, Hera."
