Chapter Eight
Ezra's P.O.V.
I hadn't slept at all last night.
Instead, I got back to Zebs room, curled up in a ball, and thought of my parents.
For some reason, half the memories were jumbled with Hera and Kanan, their kindness.
It made me mad.
I felt like I was betraying mom and dad.
When I finally thought it was an appropriate time, I got up and headed to the cockpit.
No one was there, they were all still asleep, so I sat in Heras seat and stared out at the galaxy, eventually- I finally fell asleep.

Hera's P.O.V.
I woke up in Kanan's arms, finally. After a bad mission, a night spent with Kanan was what we both needed.
We had no fear of me getting pregnant, if it happened, it happened.
I sighed, getting up and shaking Kanan.
"Wake up, Love. As much as I'd love to stay asleep, we have to get the crew ready to rescue the wookies."
Kanan groaned, sitting up.
I stared at him, in a daze, and he took note of it as he cockily smiled and leaned down to kiss me.
I backed away.
"Not until you brush your teeth, big guy." I laugh.
He groans again, crawling out of bed and going off to get dressed.
I do the same.

When we're both showered and dressed, Kanan tells me he'll wake the kids up and let's me get The Ghost in order, so I head to the cockpit.
When I get there, I stop in my tracks.
Ezra is not only in there, but he's in my seat sleeping.

Ezra's P.O.V.
Shaking.
Someone's shaking me.
Where am I?
"Ezra?"
"Ezraaa?"
Right.
I open my eyes, blinking fiercely.
"Morning." I whisper hoarsely.
"Good morning. You're in my chair."
I jolt, looking around.
"Yeaaah. You're right. Sorry." I say.
She raises her eyebrows, "So?"
"So?"
"My chair?"
"Right."
I get up, moving to the chair next to it.
"What where you doing in here anyways?"
"Just..looking."
"Looking?"
"Outside."
"Right."
I nod, and we fall into an almost comfortable silence.
ZZZ•••ZZZ
They'll all die. A voice out of reach says, chuckling,
No matter how bad you try to protect them.
'No.' I respond.
You can't save them, boy, They say,
No one can.
It's hopeless.

"..?"
"..ra?"
"Ezra?"
I jolt up again.
"What?"
This time, Sabine and Kanan are in the other chairs, both looking at me worriedly.
"We had been trying to get you for a while now. You were talking in your sleep. Are you okay?" Hera asks, putting a hand on Ezra's knee.
Ezra nods, still feeling a bit drowsy.
"I'm fine, just a dream." He says reassuringly.
Hera nods.
"Well, we've decided that since you're still injured you're staying here with me and Sabine."
"But-"
"Ezra.."
"I feel fine."
Kanan gets up and places a hand on Ezra's shoulder.
"That may be the case now, but if you're running around and opening your wounds then you won't be fine and you'll risk infection. Stay here." Kanan says.
Ezra crosses his arms.
"This is unfair."
Hera gives him a pity filled smile.
"Life isn't fair, kiddo."
Ezra stands up and makes his way out the cockpit.
"Life isn't fair, kiddo." He mocks Hera.
"I heard that!" Hera yells after him.
Ezra lets out a whiney groan.
"You were meant to."
