CHAPTER 6

STILL TEARS

ZARA's POV

Who else thinks that Early morning Cappuccinos is just the right way to start a good day, it's just so tasty.

I was in the Kitchen fiddling with the tea cup when the door bell rang out Continuously

Ding and Ding!it cried out

"I'm not getting it" I and Vanessa said at the same time as we both let out a chuckle which turned into a full blown laughter.

I love having Vanessa around, she makes everything fun. She's been sleeping over at mines for sometime now

"Hey Zee, I got the door the last time so you do it" she yelled from the sitting room

"Goshhhh , Vanessa you are just some feet away from the door" I said with a smile as she gawked at me with a broad smile, obviously not ready to move

"Ok I'd get the door" I said as I walked towards the Living room

Oh now I get it, Vanessa was pinned to the screen by her favorite show "Judge Judy" no wonder! Once that show is on, Everything else doesn't matter to Vanessa. I thought to myself as I let out a chuckle

On reaching the door, I took a peek through the door hole to check who it was, but no one was there

I gripped the door knob towards the left, on opening the door, I saw Bouquet of rose flowers

"Ishhhhhh....Not again" I said to myself as I let out a sigh.

I picked up the Bouquet and shut the door

"Hmmm.....Zee .this is the sixth time you are getting a flower this week" Vanessa said, her eye still glued to the O-LED Screen.

"Nawaooh, Me I'm tired ooh, no be flowers I dey chop now" I said jokingly

"Does it say who it's from this time" She asked

I'm beginning to get the creeps, each bouquet I found at my doorstep came with a love note. Now the question is From Who?. The note doesn't state who it's from, Anonymous indeed.

"Nope it has no name on it, Just a note as usual" I replied

"Ah Oya now, what are you waiting for? Read it out na, Loud and Clear ooh" Vanessa said as she gave me an intense look as a smile ran through her face.

Her eyes away from the screen, Hmmm! That's a First

"Babes this stuff is creeping me out oh, I keep getting flowers from an anonymous someone isn't it strange" I asked, my voice obviously tensed

"Ahah Babe, isn't it obvious yet?" Vanessa asked

"Obvious? What's Obvious" I replied

"Hmmm...." She let out a sigh

"Omo you have a secret admirer" She said as she with a slight chuckle, her upper thirty two visible.

"Secret Admirer ko!, it's not only secret ooh, open is there too" I said with sarcasm as Vanessa burst into laughter

"Madam, read the note na...oya if you don't want to read give it to me" She said as she walked towards me

"You know this guy seems to be a poet, his notes are just too romantic, Just the kind of guy I need I my life right now" She continued jokingly

"Omo! You can have him for all I care" I said with a funny tone as I handed her the note

"Mhmm...Hmm" She cleared her throat

This my Friend is just too Dramatic

"Fell Once, Twice Shy
This is me falling for you, falling for you for a second time
The truth can't be hidden, the past also, No matter how hard it tries

"Awwwwwn...."Vanessa cried out, putting on a cute face

Here you go, a bouquet of roses for my lady
The Garnished fragrance fresh from the garden, My garden
Here I am, watering it's root with Love as I state my ply
Trimming it's leaves into a perfect fit, into a perfect fix
Just you and i
This duty holds me spell bound to you
An Enchantment Vine dresser

"Ahhhhh Zeee, this guy is a romantic ooh, come dash me na" She voiced out jokingly as she continued

The mirror seems enchanted with your likeness
An allure to times when loving you was all I lived for
To have you in my arms again I'd die for......
Return into my life once again...
Let's take a trip to hidden gardens, far from their cursed civilization
A magical garden, just you and I

Huh! Now I'm lost, Back again? What does this guy mean?

"Hmm...Zara who's this guy, cause it sounds like you two know each other" Vanessa said while dishing out an Intense look

"But I must say this poetry can make one trip for any guy" she said jokingly while giving out a broad smile

Back in my Life? Back in my arms?... What's the meaning of this poetry
Things just got weirder....

"Hey Zara are you sure it isn't......"

Ding! The doorbell cut in

"There it goes again..Hmmm.....abi you're sure it's not another bouquet that would be two times in a row and in a single day" Vanessa voiced with a chuckle

"I guess I gotta get it now" She continued as she walked towards the door

Goshhhh.... who's this guy and why does he sound like we've met be.......

"Zeee it's for youuuuuu" Vanessa yelled out drawing me out of my reverie

I quickly walked towards the door, there was a Young man in a delivery Uniform

"Good day Ma'am, Are you Miss Zara Nnadiri?" The Man asked

"Yes I am" I replied

"I have a delivery for you from Mr.Udo Michaels" he voiced out

A delivery? From Udo! Now that's Odd

"If you don't mind could you sign here and here" he continued as he gestures towards there document in his hands

I signed and he handed me the Mini sized packet which I took in

"Hmmmm.....Zee you are receiving too many gifts from guys ooh" Vanessa said with a broad smile as I tried revealing the content of the box

I tore open the box, there was a Credit card in it

"Why did he send a Credit card" I thought out loud

My phone buzzes up with a text from Udo

"I guess you would have received the package by now, that's the company's credit card, it's cover's all your expenses for the party, Get yourself something Nice.....Look Nice and I'd pick you up by 8:00. Don't be flattered it's not just for you every important employee gets a credit card".

Cliche! Huh.....he just had to ruin the whole text with this, Like is he trying to say I don't have money to cover my expenses or?

Just then another text came in, still from him though

"I Know you're too stubborn, you might not use the card cause of your huge Ego..... do consider this my way of saying thank you for last time ."

He's just one complicated Man, I thought he would never thank me for treating his wounds then....Thank you doesn't seem to be in his dictionary
But he just did.....Now that's rare

Omo, what about you did you Thank him for saving you then?....My Subconscious judged

Well he saved me and I returned the favour by getting him a doctor who treated his wounds, I guess we're even now....I tried my best to justify my conscience

So now he said Thanks, what are you gonna do?....My subconscious retorted again

Yeah, Yeah! There's a point there, I might as well say thank you too...

"By using the Carrrrrrddddd" Vanessa cut in, stressing on the word Card as she got me out of my reverie

Wait was I thinking out loud?

"Huh...say what now" I asked her with a curious tone as I shot her a glance

"Yup don't give me that look, you were talking audibly to yourself , I couldn't help but listen and yeah I've read the text too, I think you should use the card" She said

"Why?" I asked her

"O'Cmon girl you've narrated what transpired that day to me already, He saved you and you helped him up from the scene, you got him a doctor as well, that's practically means you saved him too. So don't you think it'd be rude if you were to ignore this kind gesture from him" She said

"I mean every reasonable lady would jump at this opportunity, abi they're now begging you to use money ni" She continued as she gave out a silly laugh

"Abi I'm now unreasonable ko!" I said jokingly

"No Ma! just stating a point and besides that guy is too Handsome to be rejected" She continued, as she let out a sigh

Abi! She has started day dreaming

"Osula! It has started abi" I said as we both burst into laughter

"Oya na, what are you waiting for let's go shopping na" Vanessa said as she gestured at the blank air with her hands

"I hope you're gonna get me something from that credit card" She continued with a chuckle

"Ahhhhh! Vanessa you too like Shopping ehhh.... Don't worry I'd get you something with my own credit card not with this before Mr.Udo would say I have violated the rules to blah blah blah" I said trying my best to mimick Udo as Vanessa laughed and laughed on

That guy can be too Serious at times.

I turned off the Ignition of my Car at the parking lot of GRACIAS LABEL MALL at Lekki. We stepped out of the car as we walked down the those huge entrance doors, welcomed by the fresh fragrance of all things New.

Vanessa dragged towards aisle Seven, where some beautiful gowns were put on display talk about the
Vero Moda, Dorathy Perkins, Forever 21.

Vanessa picked out a beautiful red VMs gown and a black stilleto and I tried them on, I must say they fitted perfectly. I payed off with the company's credit card.

I got Vanessa a couple of shoes and dresses using my credit card I could see her Open Thirty Two all through the ride back home.

It was 7:30pm at the dot, Vanessa was helping me put on some light make up, hyping me every 10 seconds

"Babe like no other" she would scream out

Omo! My Neighbors go soon carry police come my door ooh

Just then I got his call, You know who right....it was Udo

I stared at the phone as it's Caller tune rang out continuously, Oblivious to the fact that I was smiling uncontrollably

"Ahah, Zee why are you staring at your phone, smiling sheepishly while it's ringing" She said with a surprise tone

"Ooohhhhh it's Udo abi" she continued

"Abeg don't start ooh" I said with a slight chuckle as I picked up the phone

"Hello" I voiced out

"Good evening, I'm at your front door could you get down so we could get going?" He said hurriedly

Cliche huh!

"Why couldn't you just ring the doorbell bell" I asked

I waited for some seconds to receive an answer, only to find out he had hung up already

I don't just get this guy

Vanessa quickly got my makeup done and we headed for the door

I opened the Door to see Udo in a Grey tuxedo over Black vintage slacks, He had a bunch of Roses in his hands

Today and Flowers ehh.... Nawaooh
Wait Udo got me flowers....hmm that's indeed a First

He stretched out his hands with the rose in it, I stood there staring in obvious

"Are you gonna take it, or should I hand it down to your friend who's gawking at me from behind" He asked

"No no I'd take it thanks Alot" I replied hurriedly

"You look stunning by the way" He added as he headed towards the car as he gestured towards me to come along

I was about walking down through the front door steps when Vanessa said

"Madam, stop blushing it's obvious"

Wait was I? What has gotten into me lately......Goshhhh!

We got into the car and Udo started the ignition almost immediately, an soon we were off to Rooftop resorts, which was the venue for the ball

It was a silent drive

The Silence was really getting frustrating
Then i decided to start up a conversation

"Hey Udo i hope you don't mind, I won't be available at the office tomorrow and next" I said

"Why? We need to start up something for the new book the company's working on" He replied

"Yeah I know but I'm having an Interview with Steph" I said

"Like you know the well known Journalists who Interviews writer's on her show" I added

He kept a blank face still, like he was confused

"Ahah don't you know Stephanie Olusola Jacobs?" I continued

Just then he hit the brakes fiercely, I could here the continuous screeching of the wheels until we came to a halt

He still kept a straight face, only that this time I could see tears flow down rapidly but still.

Whoa! Is he crying?

Hmm....Udo is crying 🤧... That's a scene I wouldn't afford to miss

Why did Udo start crying all of a sudden?
