~6 Rain rain go away

A/N- Hey guys, since this is a Christmas update, I just thought I'd ask you to comment lots and lots cause I love reading comments! Thank you and read on!

When we set off from Oldale Town, the mood was light, upbeat and enjoyable but that was before the rain settled in, the mood quickly became drab and dreary as the small droplets of water socked everyone through. My jacket pulled up against my neck, my hood as far up as it would go and I was hugging myself tightly while shivering as the rain drenched through to my skin. Gummie, Angel, Gardenia and Champ were all safely hiding away in their Pokéballs while Samurai trudged by my side and Miku skipped merrily though the rain with Pie.

I let out a small sneeze as the cold tickled my nose. The route we were traveling along was completely barren of places to stop for camp leaving no choice but to travel through the rain. The icky mucky rain. Don't get me wrong, I like the rain but that was more while inside with a blanket wrapped around my shoulders and a mug of hot chocolate topped with wippy cream and cinnamon sprinkled on top.

Jake looked up at me shivering away in the cold after I sneezed, rain trickling over his face in little streams as it dripped from his messy brown hair. He didn't say anything as he looked around our surroundings. He eventually pointed out a large oak tree. "I think we should just try and set camp up there, we can't keep going in the rain or we'll all get sick."

Milly shook her head. "Oak trees are struck by lightning more then any other type of tree, it wouldn't be safe." She said grimly as a crack of thunder rippled through the air. I squealed, jumping into Samurai's arms as the sound echoed through the route.

My shiny blue Pokémon gently pat my head, rain running over his smooth skin. ~It's okay Paige, thunder is just Arceus clapping for his subjects.~

:I don't like it, it's loud: I whispered.

"Look over there." Milly pointed, sighing with relief as she did so.

I squinted through the rain, making out the hazy blur of a rocky cave. The five of us broke into a run, eager to get under cover. Jake peered in cautiously, trying to judge the emptiness of the cave.

"Doesn't look like anyone's been home for a while." He said as he walked in, shaking water from his brown hair.

It took a lot longer then it should of to set up camp, no one was in the best mood and the damp atmosphere didn't particularly help either but regardless, we soon had a cheery warm fire drying out our clothes. Milly and I had taken turns in the tent to change into our pyjamas and Jake was currently doing the same while I sat on my neatly folded sleeping bag, watching the rain fall. Samurai was sitting at the cave entrance, watching for any uninvited guests who might find the cave a tempting place to hide from the rain. Miku had decided to keep him company, splashing around is stray puddles with Pie.

Gardenia was hanging out the wet clothing on a line we'd attached a near the fire, but not close enough so that if they fell, they'd fall into the fire. Gummie and Angel were setting out things for a dinner of dried out noodles with veggies while Champ sat on a rock, lazing about without any sort of interest in what we were doing.

Jake exited the tent, handing Gardenia his wet clothes before collapsing by the fire that Torch had made before joining Samurai at the entrance to the cave. The two fighting typed Pokémon had become close rivals over time, often competing in hand to hand combat to see who was stronger, if Torch ever won, Samurai would spend days training endlessly in effort to be stronger then Torch.

Samurai didn't like loosing, if he did, he'd train really really hard in effort to be stronger. He says he has to be to beat anything that can hurt me but I think he just doesn't like to loose a battle. I still wasn't the biggest fan of battles but I would never hold my Pokémon back from something they enjoyed doing. That would be mean and taking that away would be taking away part of their freedom, I could never do that to anyone, person or Pokémon.

Where was I again...? Oh yeah I remember now.... Even though Samurai and Torch were rivals, they were still good friends... Except when Torch would hit on Gardena (whatever that means) then Samurai gets really angry. Like, scary angry. It's even worse when Ghoul does it.

The smell of chicken noodles filled my nose. I turned to see Jake, dressed in an orange T-shirt and cotton black jacket, hovering a pot of boiling water. Gummie and Angel were adding ingredients as Jake instructed while Milly had fallen asleep on her sleeping bag. I don't blame her, I was tired to because of my restless sleep the night before from m my nightmares of being trapped in Ghetsis's claws again.

~Paige?~

I almost jumped out of my skin at Gardenia's voice. I squealed, falling backwards as I snapped from my thoughtful daze. :Don't scare me like that!: I huffed, lightly hitting her arm.

She chuckled. ~You should go to sleep Paige, you didn't sleep much last night. I'll wake you up for dinner.~

I hesitated but nodded. :Okay, but make sure you wake me up for dinner, I'm hungry:

Slipping into my sleeping bag, I curled up into a ball as Gardenia started rubbing my shoulder, humming a gentle tune. My mind was abuzz with scary reminders of the things that scared me, what the future would hold and the possibilities of what Team Aqua could want with me, if they would hand me over to Ghetsis. What would he do to me?

I wish N was here. He was always the best at making me sleep better. He would tell me stories, sing me songs and tell me about the outside world I had once missed so much. But I hadn't heard anything from him in months, he used to call, making sure I had settled well in Hoenn but then he suddenly stopped calling.

:Gardenia?:

The Embrace Pokémon stopped rubbing my side, looking at me with her pale red eyes. ~Yes Paige?~

:Is N okay?:

~He's fine Paige, he just has things he has to fix.~ She explained softly. ~Don't worry about him, he won't stay away longer then he has to.~

:Do you think he still wants me?:

~Of course he does Paige, he loves you very much... Why wouldn't he want you?~

I bit my lip, looking away from Gardenia, to shameful to admit that things Ghetsis and his lead grunt Nicole had said still bothered me.

~You're thinking about Ghetsis again aren't you?~

:No: I fibbed, hiding beneath the covers of my sleeping bag. :Why would I be thinking about him?:

~Come on Paige, you can always talk to us. We won't ever judge you over something you're afraid of.~ She gently rubbed my back through my sleeping bag. ~Now talk to me, what's on your mind?~

:I-- I just can't help it: I whispered. :Ghetsis, he... He scares me so much and sometimes I can't help but think that N doesn't want me anymore because of the things he said about me and... Because he said he'd take you guys away, I know he was just trying to protect me but... It still hurt, a lot:

Gardenia pulled back the sleeping bag, looking into my scared blue eyes with her knowing red ones. ~N loves you Paige, he would never abandon you ever. He doesn't care if you're a little small or anything that makes you different. He loves you every bit as much as Samurai and I do, as well as Gummie, Angel, Miku, and everyone else. You don't have anything to worry about. Now get some rest okay, Samurai's keeping watch and he won't let anything near you.~

I gave a small nod, wiggling closer to my Pokémon, listening to her soft humming until sleep finally came.

~~~🌺~~~
The ocean so blue and sky so light.
Good does come, scares evil's fright.
Honest and loyal, good and kind
Heart so strong and innocent at mind
Love of life, love of joy. My chosen child, will drive out the night.
Drive out bad ground and seed the tree.
Those words, I knew them. I search the depths of my mind, trying to find where I knew those words from. The swirling mists of pinks and purples clouded the very depths of my mind making it impossible to see anything or let my mind wonder from the poem that seemed to have branded itself into my mind. My mind couldn't form my own words to call out for anyone near.
~Paige, dinner is ready sweetie.~ Gardenia cooed, gently shaking my shoulder.
I woke up slowly, looking around the see I was now in the tent with Milly waking up beside me. I'm guessing Gardenia used her Psychic to move me here, since I'd been by the fire when I'd fallen asleep.
Yawning, I sat up, recalling the dream I'd just had. My brow furrowed as I struggled to remember the words exactly. It's probably nothing, just a dream as result is my stressful thoughts lately.
Gardenia helped me to my feet before going over to Milly to rouse her for dinner. I slipped from my sleeping bag, folding the top over the opening to stop any sneaky Pokémon from wriggling inside before I exited the tent. Jake was still hovering over the pot of dinner, looking completely exhausted. I guess last night was restless for everyone, not just me.
The older trainer smiled slightly as he handed me my bowl, I smiled back in reply not even really caring what I was eating, I just wanted food. Finishing the bowl before I even realised I'd begun, my thoughts were left to drift around aimlessly, trying to remember the words to my mist filled dream. I don't why it was bothering my so much, it was just like any dream. Right?
I stifled out a yawn, leaning against Gardenia as I sat my bowl at my feet. :Hey Gardenia, are dreams important?:
~Of course they are Paige, a person or Pokémon's dreams help define who they are or what to be...~
:No, I mean sleep time dreams. Can they mean something, or are they just random things your mind makes up?:
Gardenia was quiet for several moments, clearly thinking hard about the answer. ~Some say that if your connection with certain Pokémon, especially mythical Pokémon, is strong and you are right at heart, then you may experience visions in your dreams. Seeing hints at the future, hearing voices with important messages. Some humans are chosen to carry out deeds for Legends but this is a very rare occurrence for the human species. Why?~
:I think I heard something in my dream, something I've heard before but I can't remember. I have a feeling that it was important:
~Maybe you were just dreaming.~
:I don't know, it didn't feel like just a dream:
~Maybe it wasn't but there's no point over thinking it, you'll give yourself a headache and if you have a headache so do Samurai and I.~ She smiled softly, eating her own dinner. It was true, it was apart of some sort of mental link the three of us shared because of our strong bonds.
~Paige is a headache.~ Samurai snorted jokingly.
:Hey!:
~Hay is what Ponyta eat Paige.~ He stated matter-of-factly.
I glared at him from across the cave but he just carried an amused smirk. When I could hold the serious facade any longer, I burst out laughing, making Jake and Milly jump which made me laugh more. It didn't turn out to be that bad of an afternoon, despite the rain. We sat by the fire a few hours longer before we all went to bed early. We shared a single tent for this journey, rather then the two we had used in Unova. Angel, Gummine and Miku joined Jake, Milly and I in the tent while Gardenia, Samurai, Champ and Torch remained outside by the light of the fire.
I curled up under the covers of my sleeping bag, and was asleep within minutes. Closely followed by my friends and Pokémon doing the same.
