~5 False alarm?

~Jake's pov~

Several hours had passed since the Pokémon Centre was put under lockdown and so far, with no explanation why. I'd seen the horde of Team Aqua out the window but we hadn't told Paige since she was already stressing out about Team Aqua handing her over to Ghetsis. I wanted to go out there and fight them off, get them back for stealing Pokémon but whenever I looked at Paige, curled up beneath the covers of her bed, timidly peeping out I was reminded why I couldn't. Samurai would make Paige leave us if I did, and Paige was more important to me then fighting some stupid evil organisation. Paige would duck under her blankets at the slightest noise, leaving Gardenia to gently sooth her back out. My sister was sitting on her own bed, trying to read a book but was obviously having no success as she constantly looked over the pages, biting her lip in a nervous way.

I was pacing across the room, Samurai's eyes followed my movements as he leant against the wall where he could easily see both the door to the room and his trainer. Gummie was floating above Paige as she trembled on the bottom bunk. Angel sat by the door, her sky blue eyes trained on the handle as if expecting to jump open at any second. Champ was probably the most relaxed out of anyone but that was probably because he still didn't know what had happened in Unova.

There was a shallow creak from somewhere unknown which made Paige jump, burying herself beneath the covers with a small sob. Gardenia let out a small sigh before gently stroking Paige's back, whispering things quietly to her in order to comfort her. After a moment or two, Paige's blue eyes once more peeped above the covers.

I sat down on the end of Milly's bed, the tension in the air was so think, you could snip it with scissors.

Angel's ears twitched before she stood up, pacing by the door. She paused every now and then to glare at the door, her paws making gentle taps on the carpeted floor.

I looked back at Paige who was now sitting up, watching Angel pace around the room. No doubt she was having a private conversation with her Pokémon. I could tell she was upset, no doubt shaken but the appearance of Team Aqua, whoever they were. The only one unaffected by the tension in the room was Miku who was playing with a piece of bubble wrap she had found in one of the draws.

Hours ticked by, the moon was no doubt high in the sky now but there wasn't a way of checking since we had pulled the blinds close. Paige was asleep now, lying in Gardenia's arms in an uneased state. Every now and then she would struggle in her sleep, her Gardevoir would then gently calm her by stroking her hair and whispering comforting things to her. Miku was now unconscious in Paige's arms, struggling into her trainers chest, dead to the world around her... I wonder what Miku dreams about... Oh dear Arceus, what did I just think about?

Gummie was on the spare bunk, also asleep. Champ, Angel and Samurai were still up though. Samurai hadn't moved from his spot, still obviously on edge about the chances of an attack. His red eyes darting to any source of movement or sound, which was often caused by Champ. He'd bang on the walls or use Psychic to move stuff, pissing off Samurai more then words could say. Champ so far seemed to be very arrogant and somewhat of a more self absorbed Pokémon. I was curious to see how this would play out with Paige's other Pokémon who were all team players with a lot more friendly personalities.

A beeping sound filled the room, waking Paige with a start. She clung to Gardenia, nervously looking around the room as the sound of the intercom filled the room. "Thank you trainers for your patience. The lockdown is now over and you are free to leave as you please, we are sorry for the inconvenience. Have a nice night and come again soon."

Paige sighed with relief, slumping into Gardenia's arms. Samurai moved to the edge of the bed, placing a hand on Paige's back. ~See, I told you it would all be fine, didn't I?~

Paige nodded, snuggling back down in her bed, Gardenia laid down with her while Samurai teleported to his original spot where he leant against the wall with his arms crossed. ~You should get some sleep Jake, it is quite late.~

I looked over to see Milly was already sleeping, her open book laying on her chest as she sat against her prompt pillows. I rolled my eyes, taking the book from her and sliding in the book mark before sitting it in the desk. I slid her down and pulled the blanket over my sister, tucking her in before I climbed into my own bed. Samurai turned off the lights and within minutes, I was asleep.

~Paige's pov~

I didn't sleep very well and I was up well before anyone else was. I stayed still, snuggling in Gardenia's arms as the suns rays peeked out from the closed curtain, I felt funny in the tummy as last nights anxiety washed over me. What happened last night? No one would tell me because Samurai said he didn't want to scare me but honestly, he scared me more by not telling me what was going on.

I felt the sudden urge for the bathroom so I wiggled out of Gardenia's arms, leaving Miku asleep on my pillow I tiptoed across the room so I wouldn't wake any person or Pokémon.

I did my business, which doesn't really need to be explained, and exited the bathroom. The digital alarm clock that sat on one of the bedside tables showed the time to be 5:30 in the morning, several hours before anyone would be waking. I sighed with slight disappointment, wanting to talk to someone but with my Pokémon asleep and my muteness, it was currently impossible. I went to my bag, digging through it for the gift N had given me before he left before I curled up on the small lounge chair the room provided.

The neat leather bound sat on my lap, a picture of Reshiram and Zekrom had been stamped into the cover and outlined in white and black respectively. A bright  blue elastic held the book shut and small slips of paper stuck out at certain angles. I undid the tie, opening the page to a photo and N and I when we were younger, a little after he had first taken me in. I smiled at the photo, flipping through the various photos, drawing, small items like pressed flowers and leaves N had collected for me over the years he had taken me under his wing. He'd stopped me hurting for a long time, kept my mind off what was really happening my whole life. I flipped to the final few pages where a story had been written, one N had told me many times.

I smiled to myself as I went over the words, my lips moving in the way they would if I could actually read the words aloud. I knew I couldn't but I enjoyed it to a point.

Once upon a time, many many years ago, a meteor fell from the sky, a single Pokémon contained within. For years the Pokémon slept inside its stone prison until a King, desperate to save his own kingdom revealed his truths and ideals to the unknown creature within.

Hearing his pleas, Kyruem-- in his original form --broke free. The King begged Kyruem for his help, and it agreed. The kingdoms fearsome war had been raging on for years, laying waste to the kingdom. People and Pokémon alike were left homeless. Pitying the innocent souls who's home had been destroyed, Kyruem stopped the war. Its flames melted, burnt and destroyed the weapons of war while it's rain and lightning washed away the bloodstained fields. Its icy gale froze those whose whom desire for war could not be altered before its dragon breath would make sure their greedy ambitions would never hurt anyone again.

Years passed, the kingdom remained at peace, Kyruem was no longer needed. He hid himself, far above the world in a cave coated in ice and flames where thunder rippled through the sky in a never ending fury. As Kyruem slept, his power grew within surging through his core at a rate not even he could control. As his strength grew so did his need for destruction.

"Watch ya reading?"

I jumped a mile high, dropping my book in the process. Placing my hand over my speeding heart, I took a deep breath in, glaring at Jake slightly as he picked up my book. "Sorry, I thought you'd heard me come up."

He handed me my book. "Is this the thing N gave you?"

I nodded, hugging it close to my chest.

"May I have a look with you?"

I nodded, stifling a yawn.

Jake noticed my attempt to hide my yawn as he slipped in next to my small frame. "You didn't sleep much last night I'm guess?"

I shook my head no.

"Did you have a bad dream?"

Once again a shook my head.

"Just a restless night?"

I nodded.

Jake didn't say anything for a few moments. "Are you okay now? You were quite shaken last night."

I smiled and nodded.

"You sure?"

I nodded again, laying my book on my lap to change the topic. I showed him the photo's that N had taken over the years, pictures I had drawn in the rare chance I'd have the spare time when I wasn't completely exhausted from having to serve Ghstsis. Jake would ask me questions I could answer with a nod or shake of my head. Every now and then he would touch one of the pressed flowers or trace one of my drawing's with a finger tip. The childish artworks had all been done of various things I could remember beyond the walls of my prison. Flowers, trees, streams, Pokémon, my old friends and home. Their was a picture of Samurai and Gardenia as they went through their various stages of evolution. N's Pokémon had also got into a few. A few pages looked like they'd been torn from a book, notes and observations about my personality written in N's tidy hand writing. Happy quotes and upbringing messages N had shared over the years had also been stuck to the pages.

We got to the back of the book which held my favourite story he had shared with me where I closed the book. I hugged it close to my chest before slipping from the chair, placing the book neatly back into my white shoulder bag.

~Sneak attack!~

I was hit in the back by a flying projectile. I fell forward but caught myself on my bed, I turned to see Champ standing there with his arms crossed and a smirk. ~Gotcha.~

I giggled and gave Champ a pat on the head. :Yeah, you got me:

Jake chuckled, sticking his hand out to help me up.

~My Paige!~ Champ hissed, clinging to me while glaring at Jake. ~Get your own.~

:Champ, Jake can't hear you silly: I giggled. :He only hears Samurai and Gardenia:

Champ huffed as I let Jake help me back to my feet. Most the others had been woken by the commotion my shiny Meditite has caused. I was sitting on the end of my bed while Milly got ready.

Samurai soon joined me, he looked slightly off, worried. ~Are you alright now Paige?~

:Yeah, I was just frightened last night: I answered with a smile.

Samurai nodded, examining me closely. ~Okay, I'm here if you feel you need to talk.~

I smiled and nodded, bringing Samurai into a hug. :You know I tell you everything silly:

Samurai ruffled up my pink hair. ~Get ready to go, we're going to move on to Petalburg City today. Your first contest is there.~

:Goody!: I cheered, leaping from the bed to get ready since I'd never changed out of yesterdays clothes. :Betcha I can beat you there:

Samurai chuckled. ~I'll take you up on that.~
