She Knew It, It Wasn't A Dream

"What's going on Bumblebee? Where are we going? Why haven't we taken a ground bridge to base?"

She hasn't stopped asking questions since she hopped in the high speed car. The one that was now racing down the street. He barely answered any of her questions. He knows it would be easier to show her. Trees and fields go by as a blur. His speedometer topping out, engine continuing to push. Her hands grip the armrest, holding on tight. His speed keeping her back in the seat. She is sure they are at least out of the state by this point. After driving for what feels like hours, they finally pull of the road. Static starts to play though Bee's radio. A voice comes through, but it cracks and is hard to o understand.

"Bumblebee...come in." She couldn't stop her excitement at the grumpy voice that came through the other end.

"Is that Ratchet!?!?" Her form began to jump in the seat.

Beeps and whirs came from the radio, answering back the older bot.

"You have who?" Her smile dropped.

But Bee continued to beep.

"Just get back to base"

A green and blue swirling vortex opened in front of them and Bee soared through. Shelby tried to stay excited, tried not to let the disappointment of Ratchet get to her. Even as she slumped back in the seat. She watched out the window as the scenery changed from dark green woods to a bright open spaced building. Two giants stood waiting on the other side. One was red and blue with exhaust stacks coming out the back of his shoulders. The next one was quite a bit shorter, but still easily a giant, was white and orange and a grumpy look on his face.

Bumblebee pulled to a stop in front of them, but she didn't get out yet. She took a deep breath before opening the door. The room was so silent, her black boots echoed as they hit the floor. It wasn't until she was fully out of the car that the two metal sentient beings gasped. Both looking equally as shocked as the other.

"Optimus, how can this be?" The white and orange when looked up to his leader in question.

"I do not know, Ratchet. I do not know."

"Nice to see you too. Hi, how've you been?" Shelby said sarcastically, waving up at them, the other hand on her hip.

Bumblebee then transformed and started going off. Arms and hands moving everywhere.

"Yes, Bee. You were correct. I am sorry we didn't believe you." Optimus said.

"What's going on? Believe him about what?" This time she crossed her arms, not liking being ignored.

The three began to talk amongst themselves, forgetting that she was there. She tried to wait it out, see if they remembered. They spoke quietly. Making it hard for her to hear. Her foot began to tap and a scowl formed on her face. After hearing her name again, she spoke up.

"What is going on?" Her voice raised, making them freeze and look at her.

Optimus is the first to move, kneeling down to her level. "Shelby, you have know idea how happy we are to see you, but we thought you were dead."

This shocked her. They thought she was dead. Why would they think that? Her eyes wondered the ground, trying to think of answers. Unsure of what to make of this situation. Her father had to be behind this somehow. That means he has to know about them. But how? All these questions begin to run through her mind and she has no answers. It all makes sense why none of them came after her and it made it easy to believe that they weren't real, but still.

"You all thought I was dead? What made you think that?"

"Agent Fowler was told by the hospital that you never came out of your coma." Optimus explained.

"Coma? What coma? I supposedly just came out of one. How many have I been in?" She looked up at him sharply.

Optimus kneeled down close to her. "What is the last thing you remember?"

"Optimus, I'm not sure you want to know. Because I don't even know what really happened and what didn't. You need to tell me how I got into the coma and when. All I know is that my parents and one brother are still alive and they shouldn't be. They were supposed to be dead when I got out of the military. I was told they were dead. All before I met you guys and before I helped Dreadwing. Dreadwing! Where is he?" She starts to panic. Looking around the base. Running away from the bots, looking for her only reason for living.

"Shelby! Come back!" Optimus yells, walking quickly after her.

"Where is he Optimus? Please tell me I did actually bring him back. Please tell me he is still alive." She paces back and forth. The others look on in sorrow.

"Shelby, I don't know how to tell you this, but Dreadwing hasn't been seen since the day we found out you died. Not even Megatron has seen him."

"No. No! Your lying!" She shouts in rage. "Why is everyone lying to me?"

"Im not lying, I promise you that. We don't know where he is. We have been searching for months. It's been hard on all of us. Your death had a horrible impact on him. We don't even know if he's still alive. He went off our radar."

"Optimus, how did I get into a coma and what happened after I did?"

"You might want to go sit down. The kids should be arriving from school soon."

"I called the last hospital I was in. That I remembered. June answered. She didn't know how I was."

"That's not possible. June was devastated by your death. Blamed herself. She's the one who told Fowler. No one knew about your family showing up."

"Well they must of had me moved back home after I supposedly died. I wonder how they did it. What happened to me?" She stressed the question. Pleading up to Optimus, waiting for an answer.

"Okay, but this might be difficult to hear." Optimus picked her up and placed her in the platform and she sat down the the old yellow couch.

"When you traded yourself for Dreadwing, we spent months looking for you. Dreadwing wouldn't rest until he knew you were alright. Megatron began coming out with new weapons, but lucky for us, none of them actually worked. Poor Smokescreen almost got his arm blasted off by one. Either way, one day Dreadwing was able to make it into the ship. We lost contact for a day, but he was able to get connected again. Dreadwing had you, but you weren't functioning. Knockout told him that Megatron found out about what you were doing to the machines you created, making them fail after a certain point. Megatron tried to take your life, but Knockout tried to keep you alive. You were already in the coma. We kept you at base as long as we could. Nothing Ratchet or June did was bringing you back. So finally we had to make the decision to get you to a hospital. June, Fowler and the kids kept us updated on your progress. Then one day Fowler said your body finally gave up. You were gone. And that's the last we heard about you. We had no idea you were alive. Dreadwing left in a fit of rage. Storming out of base and he flew off. Ratchet tried to keep up with him, but 24 hours later he fell off the radar. We have no idea if he's alive or not."

Shelby wasn't looking at the prime anymore. She couldn't believe what he just told her. Over half of what happened with them, never happened. Dreadwing and her never got a chance to fall for each other. Go on their first and only date, be there for each other. Her depressed 7-8 month period of her drinking and smoking until she felt like death, never happened. Silas never happened. Darkmount never happened. The Autobots leaving never happened. She dreamt it all. Megatron almost succeeded in killing her. In Dreadwings mind, he had. Where is he now? Should she tell the Prime of the adventures they had? Would any of it come true? Before she could continue to think, a green SUV and blue motorbike rolled into base. Two children climbed out of one and a boy hopped off the motorbike.

"Bee where were you today?" Asks the youngest of the three.

Prime is still standing in front of her, covering her from the view of the kids. Unsure how to tell them. Bee beeped and the young boy understood him. They conversed and then Raf looked up at the platform in surprise.

"Bee this should of been a gentle introduction." The Prime reprimanded.

"Is she really up there?" His voice so small and nervous.

"Yes Raf. Children what we were told was a lie, Shelby is still alive." Then he moved to the side, his servo motioning to to the once thought dead.

"Shelby." Jack whispered and started to walk closer.

" No way!!! This is amazing!!!" Shrieked Miko.

The young girl raced up the stairs, her pigtails bouncing on top of her head. She wrapped her arms around the older women and held on tight.

"Wait until Dreadwing finds out! He will be estatic...wait." and sadness filled the room.

"I'm gonna find him. I need too. I didn't know it then, but he saved my life too. I do need to ask? How long have I been gone?" She asked surveying the room, still holding onto Miko.

"Over a year at least." The motorbike said as she transformed. "Its good to see you again Shelby."

"Likewise Arcee. It's good to be back. I've been locked up in a house with a monster. One I don't know if you know of yet. Since I don't know what all happened after my supposed demise."

"What happened to you? Where did you go? Why did they tell us you were dead? Things have been crazy here."

"Well I can tell you that you are not in the bunker that I last saw you in. So that means Megatron didn't create darkmount, at least not yet anyway. I was told you guys never existed. None of you were real. I almost believed it too."

"What's Darkmount?" Miko asks looking up with interest.

"It's a giant fortress that Megatron built after using the Omega lock. He used it to um...um. You know what. It was just a giant place Megatron needed to feel better about himself. I didn't get to see much of it. I stayed on the Nemisis. I was captured at that point. But don't worry Dreadwing saved me." She said quickly seeing some of their faces fall.

"The Omega lock?" Ratchet looks up at Optimus in shock.

"Captured?" The others questioned.

"Have you been looking for the keys?" She asked Prime.

"I am still attempting to decode the icon database. Do we find them all?"

"Optimus, I'd rather not talk about what happened to me in my dreams. It was very painful and since it didn't actually happen, I'd rather leave it that way. It might hurt less." She turned away whispering the last sentence.

"We will double our efforts to find Dreadwing." Optimus promises.

"I think I have an idea of who might be behind his disappearance. Has anyone come in contact with Silas lately?" Her arms crossed, anger flaring as thoughts of her father come into play.
