Coming in Hot
Shelby awakened by the cell opening. It screeching across the floor. She is quick to sit up and her head feels fuzzy, but she shakes it off and turn towards the door. A sneer already playing on her lips. She glares at the two guards standing there with their weapons. They have them slung low, but hands on the trigger guard. They aren't pointed at her, showing her they don't see her as a big threat, but a threat none the less.
"Lets go." The one closest to her says.
"Go where?" She asks, still sitting on the floor.
"You already know. Now Lets go." This time he points the weapon at her.
"Maybe I don't want to." She gets up, but slowly. Taking her sweet time. She stretch's too.
"Hurry up!" They both growl.
"Geeze, fine I'm coming." She put her hands up in front of her.
They put cuffs on her hands as soon as she walked out of the cell. Then they push her out the door of the room. One leads in front of her, while the other stays behind. Her only hope is that they are taking her to see Dreadwing, but even she knows that is doubtful. She'd be lucky to ever see him again. Her time here has been getting up going to another room and being interrogated. They want to know everything she knows about the Autobots and Decepticons. They want to know how she brought Dreadwing back to life. She knows if she told them, they would just use the information to try and build their own war machine. Something she can't let them do, so she keeps her mouth shut. They still don't know about the device she got from the Autobots. She keeps that hidden in a corner of my cell.
She recognize the room they take her into. It still has the same blood splatter on the floor that it did yesterday. Her blood. Each day the splatter gets bigger. They only continue to draw blood from her body. Then they take her to a medical officer who patches her up and sends her back to my cell. All just so they can do it again. She is having doubts of being saved, but everyday she continue to hope the Autobots find her. She is slowly trying to figure out a plan. They force her to sit in the chair. Using a large hand on her shoulder to shove her down. She winces at the force, they do this every time. There is a large bruise from them gripping her tightly in the same spot. They uncuff her hands and cuff them to the chair instead, along with her feet.
"Boss will be here soon. Sit tight." One of the men growl.
"Not much else I can do." She say sarcastically. This earns her a slap to the face.
"Watch your mouth." He sneers.
"Is that anyway to treat our guest?" A deep voice rings throughout the room. One she dreads to hear every day.
"Sir, we weren't expecting you for another half hour. Just getting her ready for you, sir." The two stand at attention as their leader walks closer.
"Leave, you've done enough." The two leave quickly, not looking back.
"Now lets start shall we. Where did we leave off yesterday?" He asks, knowing full well where they left off. A evil smile playing on his lips.
"I believe you asked me a stupid question and you slapped me so hard I bled for hours." She couldn't stop myself from saying.
"Maybe if you just answered the questions. You wouldn't be in this predicament."
"And I told you before, I'll never give you the answers your looking for. You might as well just kill me." She taunts.
"Or how about I just kill your titan friend. The one you hold so dear to your heart." He smiles, knowing he's got her cornered.
"You wouldn't. You need him alive."
"We've gotten a lot of information out of him. He's starting to become useless. It wouldn't bother me one bit to pull his plug. Unless you give me the information I want to hear." He walks around her, whispering in her ear.
Her breath catches and her heart starts to race. She can't lose Dreadwing, but she can't give the information to Silas. Dreadwing would kill her if she did that just to save him. Thoughts run though her mind. Scenarios of what could happen if she did, in fact, give it up. The world would become at war. Silas leading the enemy side with his titans. Then there's a life without Dreadwing. Even if she gets out of here, he would be gone and she would be alone again. She can't let that happen. She doesn't know what to do and it's killing her inside. Her eyes are staring at the floor and She see a pair of boots come into her vision. A hand grips her chin and forces her to stare up into the eyes of her captor.
"So what's it going to be?"
"Can I have time to think about it?" She pleads.
"I think I can grant you that request. You can stay in here. I'll come back and see you in a few hours." He lets her head drop and he leaves.
He turns out the light as he walks out. Shelby is left in darkness, contemplating. After a few minutes, the darkness seems to get worse. It's surrounding her, attaching itself to her with its very essence of pain and despair. Nightmares from the past begin to spring back to her mind. Her team dying from an ambush, getting blown up, the heavy drinking and smoking. None of that matters anymore. Her life is over before she could restart it. She couldn't even save Dreadwing. She couldn't save those from her platoon, why would she be able to save Dreadwing? The bot she is still in love with. Whether he loves her back or not.
Shots ring out. She can't determine where they came from. More shots go off. She listens carefully now. Then the room begins to shake. Running of something large is coming closer. It causes the chains, that detain her, to dig into her skin. It rubs against old wounds that have yet to heal and she howls out in pain. It echoes around her. She just wants the pain to stop. She is distracted she doesn't realize the stomping had stops and then light is shining on me. She shouts in surprise as the door gets ripped off its hinges. Then she is staring at a bot with red and yellow armor, some orange in there too. There is a pointed yellow chevron above his optics. His bright blue optics staring at her in shock.
"They capture their own species." He says as he comes into room.
"And torture them. Who are you? Please tell me your an Autobot." She says, her voice shaking.
"Hot Rod and yes I'm an Autobot. Who are you?" He asks as he looks over her situation.
"I'm Shelby. They capture you? or try too at least?" Hot Rod breaks the chains attached to her wrists and ankles. She grips her wrist and try and rub away the pain.
"Tried too. Do you know how to get out of here?"
"Yes, but we have to pick up someone first." They both start moving.
As they leave the room, they are greeted with one of Silas's men. Hot Rod shoots him with a blaster, sending the man flying. Shelby grabs the weapon that had been dropped and continue to head towards the hanger they are holding Dreadwing. She also realizes she needs to go back to her jail cell and get her device back. She knows she can't let Silas get a hold of it. They get to Dreadwing's hanger and She sends Hot Rod in to try and put him back together. Enough that they can get him out. Shelby runs back to the cell. Shooting a few men out of her way, praying she don't run into Silas.
She is quick to get back to the hanger to find Hot Rod speaking a different tongue. I'm assuming he is swearing in Cybertronian from having to get Dreadwing unhooked.
"Don't just yank out the wires." She yells at him after slamming the door shut behind her.
"Then you do it. I have no idea how these things work. I'm not a medic or an engineer." He snaps.
"Fine, I'll do it." She slides the weapon behind her and gets to work. "Watch the door."
They can hear the men on the other side banging against the door. Trying to get in. Shelby works as quickly as she can to keep Dreadwing alive as she unhooks him. Dreadwing isn't even looking at her. His gaze at the floor. She doesn't think he knows she is there. His spark is way to dim. She unhooks a few more wires and then the screaming starts.
"Dreadwing!" She shouts.
"Shelby?" His optics light up and he tries to look down at her.
"Yes, it's me. I am getting you out of here. Just hold tight."
He groans in pain as she gets him out of the chains. His arms fall to his side with a bang, She is sure it dings his armor. He tries to talk to her. All she does is tell him to shush. They will have all the time in the world to talk when we get back to the base. He tries to bend his knees, they barely move and creak. He flexes his fingers and attempts to move his arms. All while his face shows his agony. Shelby wishes she could take it all away. She would die for a smile right now from him.
"Can you hurry it up? I think one of them has brought a saw." Hot Rod yells back to her.
"I'm almost done. I just got to disconnect him from the generator without harming his spark. Ratchet is gonna have to take a look at him."
Shelby grunts detaching the last piece and Dreadwing falls to the floor. He tries to get up but he has no energy. Hot Rod comes to his aid and put one of his arms around him and pulls him up. Shelby wish's she was bigger. Wanting to be able to help.
"Lets go." Hot Rod orders.
They point their weapons at the door and get ready to fight our way through. They can hear Silas on the other side shouting at his men. She glances at Hot Rod and they nod in a silent agreement. He brings out his blaster and takes a few shots at the door. Their screams echo throughout the room. It causes a lovely ringing in their ears. They start shooting at the first thing that moves and men go down. She watches the men go down and feels nothing for the poor bastards. After being in combat, killing these men do nothing to her soul. They don't see Silas. Shelby tries to keep the shiver at bay. She doesn't know where he could be and she doesn't like not knowing.
"There is no way we are going to get through all these humans. I'm going to blast a whole through the wall."
Hot Rod doesn't give me a chance to answer and starts shooting at the wall. Shelby keeps suppressing fire at the men trying to get in. Hot Rod moves towards the now smoking hole on the other side. Once on the other side, Dreadwing seems to start to weight down Hot Rod. She can hear Hot Rod groan from the weight. The men are beginning to surround them now. Shelby isn't sure if we will make it out.
"Hot Rod can you get ahold of Prime?" She ask, yelling over the gunfire.
"I'm trying too. I haven't been able to get through yet." He shouts back to her.
"Ahhhh!" Shelby screams a worriers cry.
Then her weapon stops firing. She realizes she is out of bullets. Her magazine empty. She curses to herself. They continue to back up towards the tree line. Hot Rod doesn't seem to be running out of firepower. It will help as she pulls out her device to call Prime myself.
"Please answer." She whispers under my breath.
"Shelby." The deep voice of Prime rings in my ear.
"Oh thank god. Please tell me you can get our coordinates. Hot Rod is with me. We need back up asap. We got Dreadwing and he needs medical attention now." She shouts.
"Ratchet is gathering them now. Stay alive." He bellows.
"Trying."
Not a second later and a swirling vortex appears to our right. She doesn't have time to let out a breath of relief before Optimus himself comes driving out of the portal. He transforms in mid air before landing in front of them. Bumblebee, Arcee and Bulkhead right behind him.
"Get through the Groundbridge now!" He orders.
Hot Rod and Shelby don't have to be asked twice and Hot Rod gets Dreadwing through. Shelby slowly follows behind. Wanting to see the end of the fight. She gets through, landing on the other side. Ratchet already helping Hot Rod to get Dreadwing to a Medical berth. The others soon run in and the Ground Bridge closes. Shelby can finally release that breath.
