Have you ever seen a small elephant,
Especially one inside a room?

Even when a baby is small
One with big ears and heavy feet
Is it really small at all?
How many small elephants do you meet?

I see a giant, one with dark eyes
One that trumpets when you say your goodbyes.
It never leaves my sight
Even when you have left for the night.

A baby elephant to you
Is not a baby to me.
It's suffocating my room
Not planning on leaving so soon.

You have left it there to toot its trunk,
And to spear me with its tusks.
Awake I remain, awake I will be
From dawn until dusk.

All because you refuse
To destroy the elephant in the room.
