Alex, Laken and I start by running through the guards barracks and yanking blankets off of people, jumping on beds, and flipping lights on and off. In a state of panic, one stumbles out of bed for the light, which Alex continues to flicker.

Within three minutes, mad chaos has ensued, and based on the yelling, someone has found that the prisoners escaped, thanks to Laken busting the lock on the door. Knowing we have to move fast, Alex and I exchange looks. He points his hands at the light switch and without him even touching it, it goes crazy.
"Trick from Willie." He grins.

We leave and find Laken and Jack. Jack is in a lot of pain, but he's out of the facility. They need to make it across the three mile hike to the US base, but it doesn't look like any of them are in any kind of shape to do so.

"Just get me a phone." Jack wheezes out to Laken, who nods. He manages to find a pay phone, and Laken scrapes together the necessary $.50 by searching the ground. He puts a call into his base, and within five minutes there's noises of choppers coming overhead. He sits down in the booth, slumped against the wall. He reacts to pain like Emmie. Just act like it's not there so no one knows it's bad.
Just then rapid gunfire starts. And it looks like it's coming from the same guys that were keeping Jack hostage.

"I wish I had my gun." Laken grits out, trying his best to shield Jack from any sort of stray bullets. Suddenly, it's in his hands. Oh no.

"Oh man!" He gets giddy like a kid on Christmas.
"TAKE THIS YA BULLIES!"
He starts returning fire, and turns out he's got actual bullets cause he takes down at least one of them. Fire gets returned, and soon a fight breaks out. Instead of it being extremely unfair, a whole squadron of US soldiers shows up, fighting to get up to the phone booth Jack is in.
Apparently I'm the only one who noticed he got shot, and his leg is full of blood.

"Stay with me, alright, Emmie needs you." I remind him, putting pressure on his leg. Within thirty seconds a medic gets to him, and the ordeal is over. We make sure to fill him in on where Emmie is and he nods.

"That woman won't even know I'm coming home."

My heart breaks.

"Call her, Jack, she might surprise you with how she reacts."

I ask of him. He nods, weakly.

"I'll think about it Luke. Hey, tell Emmie I love her ok? I'll be home soon."

"Will do."

I leave to go back to Em, and when I get back my heart almost gets yanked out of my chest.

Reggie is trying to calm Emmie down and failing epically.
"Emmie! Em!" I rush to her, taking note of the fact that she ditched her sling at some point.

"Luke?" She reaches blindly for me, clearly freaking out. "Where were you?"

"With Jack. He loves you."

Wellllll, I might have terrible timing but I think she needed to know that.

"What do you mean?" She looks up with tears in her eyes. I might've hit a soft spot, oops.

"Well, Alex and I had a suspicion with Laken, and well..." I never finish my sentence. Ray comes running into the house yelling for her, and when she yells back he announces it for the whole neighborhood.

"THEY FOUND JACK!"

She looks at me wide eyed, and I grin and nod.
"I might've helped break him out, but it was really Alex and Lakens idea." I inform her. She grabs me hard, yanking me into a hug before jumping up and running for the stairs. I don't miss the wince and the way she carries her bad arm afterwards. Stubborn lady, refusing to wear the sling.

"I made her take it off because she felt like she couldn't breathe and the additional weight wasn't helping." Reggie informs me, noticing me staring at it.

"I don't know Reg, I think she's going to be out of the danger zone of panic attacks from now on." I smile at him. He looks at me with questioning eyes.

"Why wasn't I invited?!"

"There was a lot of gory stuff and someone had to stay with Em." I explain.

I hear Em scream downstairs, and bolt for her, out of instinct. Getting down the stairs and around the corner, I notice she's on the phone.

"Jack!" She starts bawling into it.

Well, I did a good.
