Chapter 3
I hear groaning from upstairs.
"God damn it! Why is fort nite so complicated!" I hear him shout.
No one cares about your stupid fort nite.
I shook my head and rolled towards the sound.
Stairs.
Shit.
I carefully got out of my wheelchair and started to crawl up the stairs with my hands.
I was urging to see him.
"Stop it! Shut up!" I hear him yell.
Who is with him?
"Leave me alone! Please! I know everyone hates me!" Jaeden screamed.
I hear a loud bang hit the wall.
I was mortified.
Who was he talking to?
"J-Jaeden." I called out low.
"Shh," I hear him say.
Silence.
I quietly kept crawling up.
I finally made it to the top.
"No, she cared for me. She may not love me now, but Nessa did used to care!" Jaeden argued.
Why was he talking about me?
"Fine! I'll end it here! Just leave me alone! I'll end my life like everyone wants me to. Just shut up!" He screamed.
What was he saying? Oh crap. No, no, Jaeden don't you fucking dare.
I hit the door open and see Jaeden taking pills out of a pill bottle.
"Jaeden. Wesley. Lieberher." I breathed out.
"Vanessa?" He stopped and looked at me.
I took this Time to notice his lamp on the floor, broken. His hair was messed up, clothes dirty. Notebooks on the floor, scattered.
His eyes were bloodshot red.
"This is another hallucination." He shook his head and continued to take the pills out and closes the pill bottle.
"Hallucination? Jaeden, I'm here. I flew all the way from Chicago. I'm back, for you." I breathed out and crawled closer.
He flinched away from me.
"Don't come near! Leave me alone!" He shouted.
He looked beyond terrified. He looked like he hadn't sleep in days.
He was going crazy.
"Remember that day? That day when we promised to never turn our backs to each other. That no matter how mad we are, at each other... We'll always come back better and stronger? If I was a hallucination, then how would it know our pact?" I stated, pleading to him to believe me.
He dropped the pills and started to tilt towards the floor, unconscious.
"Jaeden!" I screamed.
I tried to get up, I needed to catch him. Hold him, like he held me when I got shot.
And with that, I felt my toes tingle. It felt weird, I felt my whole leg lift up. I had so much force and effort that I lifted myself from the ground and caught Jaeden from hitting his head on the desk.
I felt my legs wobble beneath me.
I quickly plopped on the bed with his head on my lap. I stroked his hair.
My poor baby. I did this to him, to us.
I look at his pill bottle.
Anti- Depressants.
He was going to overdose using these?
I held his body close to me, sobbing.
His mind was making me thinking of crazy stuff he shouldn't even think of.
I don't care if I end up being hurt, I just need him to be okay and safe. Back to good health. He deserved to be loved and successful.
He deserved happiness.
"What the hell happened here?" Matthew exclaimed, shocked.
"Help me correctly place him on the bed, hopefully he'll wake up soon. Then I'll explain everything I know." I say.
Matthew nods and motions Sophia and Finn to take me downstairs.
They laid me on the couch and placed pillows underneath my legs.
"What happened." Matthew asked, coming down the stairs.
"I heard him yelling from his room, upstairs so I wanted to see eh he was yelling. Or who was he yelling at." I explained. "I crawled put of my wheelchair and up the stairs. Before I opened the door, I swear he was talking to someone. Saying that he should end his life, no one loves him."
I gulped hard and looked at Matthew.
"He tried to end his life. Because of me. He thought seeing me was a hallucination so he kept trying to get the pills, he finally realized it was really me and he fainted." I kept going. "I guess I was too pressured and scared because my legs, they had energy. I felt them again but only for a short amount of time. I fell on the bed. And you guys came."
"So, out of nowhere. Jaeden gave you strength to hold him before he could've seriously injured his head?" Sophia raised her eyebrow.
"Yes, my leg is currently hurting just a tiny bit." I say.
"You are going to do better in therapy." Loren smiled.
"How's Jaeden?" I asked Matthew.
"He did faint, he looked very tired. So thats why he fainted, from all the pressure." Matthew said. "He'll be up in a couple of minutes. Hopefully.."
"I need to hold him again." I confessed.
"We know, you literally built up the strength to hold him up." Loren said.
And with that, we waited.
We waited for his presence.
