BABY STEPS
I chose this place for a reason other than its geography.
I chose this spot because this was where I had first walked. My first, wobbly steps were taken right here. My father loved to tell that story. The family was out on a picnic, celebrating Thomas's win at the game. I had stood up, and started to wobble around, somehow staying on my feet.
Baby steps.
That was what everyone had called them. Baby steps; small and uncertain.
It had been a long time since then.
Long enough.
Will I take baby steps?
No. I couldn't.
You didn't take baby steps here, now. You weren't uncertain. You knew. You knew this was what you wanted. The last thing you wanted.
The last thing I wanted.
