5:30 a.m

18 and 30 minutes before The FINAL HOUR

     Mia woke up very slowly, as she sat up she looked around to see all her friends still asleep. It was a lot colder than usual inside her house. Mia wrapped a wool blanket around herself and got up from the floor, she went straight to the thermostat. The thermostat was off so she pressed the button and it did not turn on, she figured that the power must have gotten knocked out or something even though she didn't remember there being a storm or anything like that the night before. Since the power was out she didn't really know what to do, she went up stairs into her room, it was so quite in the house... too quite. She fixed her glasses on her face so that they were not as crooked,since she slept in them, after she did that she went over to her desk and checked her laptop. It was 5:30 in the morning. Then she went onto her laptop and was about to go to the check the News when she hear stirring coming from downstairs. She shut her laptop and quietly crept down the stairs, when she saw it was just her friends she eased up and smiles at them all being awake. 

"Boy it's so cold." Jane says, her breath now visible.

"Yea don't you have a generator or something?" Grace asks rubbing her arms trying to stay warm. 

"Oh that's right, I do its in the basement. Who wants to come down with me?" Mia asks. 

"Uh sure I'll go." Dave says. 

Then rest of them nod it off, as the two go down to the basement. As they are walking down the stairs Mia says,

"Uh thanks for staying with me the night before..."

"It was nothing, thanks for letting me stay." he said cooly.

she nods a 'you're welcome' and they walk the rest of the way into the spare room in the basement . When they arrive they go straight to the generator. Mia does the procedure that would normally turn on the generator, but it didn't work. "that's strange..." Mia says to herself

"w-why didn't it work?" Dave asked

"I'm not sure maybe the battery died, this thing is no use..."

They travel back upstairs and immediately Grace asks, 

"So, how come there is still no power?"

"Mostly likely the battery is dead." Mia says,

"So basically there is no.. power?" Jason asks

"yea, pretty much... unless..." Mia says the wheels starting to turn in her head.

"unless what?" chase asks

"Well there is this padmounted transformer on the side of our house that I could use to power the dead batteries for the generator."

"that seems a little dangerous..." Jane says.

"It can be, but I know what I am doing and it would only take less than a minute." 

"Um alrigh-"

"It looks dead out there," Dave interrupts, "come to think about it how did the power even go out?"

"no Idea." Mia says.

The rest of the teens gathered around Dave, who was peering out the window past the curtain."

"suspicious..." Jason says

"very..." Chase says. 

"I don't trust you going out there by yourself I'll go with you."Jason says.

"alright then, come on let's get a move on." 

The two then travel back down to the basement and get the generator's battery. Then they travel to the front door and open it. They step outside and immediately regret it. They both start choking on the air. Their coughs ring throughout her whole neighborhood, and there was just this terrible smell that made everything worse. Once they got used to their atmosphere they continued on their journey to the side of the house. Mia hooked up the batteries to the charger source and they waited outside for 1 minute. When the batteries where charged Mia carefully unplugged them and put the wires back into their proper spot. 

"A-are we almost done, being out here is giving me the creeps."

"y-yea sure." she says, also getting getting a bad vibe. 

They had just walked to in front of her house when they see something in the distance. They squint trying to see who or what it is when they were intrrupted by Dave,

"Guys get in there is something you might wanna see."
