2 days before the FINAL HOUR
Mia was now laying in her bed her eyes trying to close but failing. She just wanted to sleep. Ever since that man came in and told Mia and her mom that their father died in his hospital bed due to the virus "taking over" she was never the same. She hardly slept yet that was all she wanted to do. Everything was a mess and her mother was driving herself to the edge. The only good thing about all this was that they ran out of Cancer injections, Mia didn't know why but she felt that it was a good thing. She heard the door to her house being opened and then closed, but she payed no mind to it. She then heard footsteps come up the stairs, but still continued to wallow. Finally she heard footsteps that lead to her door followed by a soft knock on the door.
"come in." she said quietly.
The door was then opened and her friend, Dave, peeked his head inside her room.
"hey..." he says, not really know what else to say.
"hi." Mia says while still facing the wall wrapped in blankets,
"I hope you don't mind that I came over, I just thought maybe you could use some company."
"yea that would be nice, come, and close the door behind you." she says.
He does as she says and then walks over to her.
"I-" he sighs, "I know things are bad for you right now, and you lost your dad and all but, the truth is we need you- I need you... I miss the old you... I need that right now."
Mia looks over at him with sympathy,
"what happened?"
"It's my brother. He's sick and my mom already died, so if I loose him I'll have no one left. And I can't handle that."
"Is that why you came over?"
"y-yea. Look... this was stupid I'll just go it's getting late-"
"-wait. Stay here with me."
He nods and she opens her blanket and he gets in with her and wraps the covers back around both of them.
"I need this."
"I need this too." Mia says as they drift off to sleep.
sometime that night
"Mia I'm going out, there is food in the fri-" Mia's mom starts to say as she comes in the room.
She sees her daughter and one of her friends sleeping together, she also notices that Mia starts to stir, but soon her friends seems to sooth her. Mia's mom closed the door and went to her own room. She closed the door and slumped to the floor. She couldn't keep doing this to herself forever, she couldn't keep doing this to Mia forever. She didn't know what to do anymore, she knew how badly Mia wanted this to be her year and everything was going on. Mia's mom wanted to make it up to Mia, and the first step to that was a good night's rest, but of course she checked the news from her laptop and the headline was:
World In Catstrophe: Virus takes the lives of over 13 hundred thousand people, the last of the virus seems to be clearing away...
Mia's mom decided that was enough internet for that night. Maybe things could be letting up...
