Regis

"Your majesty, it's time for bed." I said as I leaned against his doorframe in a robe.

"I don't need to go to bed. I'm not tired." He said calmly.

"But, I'll be oh so lonely without my loving husband beside me. I need to curl up in your arms to go to bed." I said as I batted my eyelashes at him.

He looked up and I saw a hint of a smile on his face.

"Are you trying to seduce me into a healthy sleeping schedule?" He asked with a smile.

"Is it working?" I asked playfully.

He let out a laugh and turned off his lamp before standing up.

"Well I would hate for you to grow restless." He said as he walked up to me.

"Especially when I'm carrying your heir." I said as his hands found their way in my stomach.

"Yes, our little prince." He said softly.

"I can't wait to hold him in my arms." I said softly.

"Nor can I." He said as he leaned down and gently kissed me.

"Regis, can you promise me something?" I asked as I pulled away.

"Anything."

"Should something happen to me.... should I not be able to be with you and Noctis... you will do everything in your power to give him the life I never had... a life full of love and compassion." I said softly.

"I promise... though nothing will ever happen to you... not as long as I breath air." He said softly.

Time skip

Regis let out a sigh as he held his son close to his chest.

"Today we mourn the death of our beloved queen. May she find peace in the great beyond." The priest said softly.

Clarus gently put a hand on Regis' shoulder and let out a sigh.

"She knew it would kill her." Regis said softly.

"I know." Clarus said softly.

"And yet she still carried Noctis."

"Because she knew you needed an heir, and because she loved you both." Clarus said softly.

A single tear streamed down his face and he looked down at the stone. It was a simple stone, worn an angel on top.
