~(Y/n)'s POV~

"Guys, I'm fine." I step back to get some fresh air. They were all worried about me. "Are you sure?" Prompto asked as he stared at me with eyes brimming with worry. I smiled and nodded to him.

"That light in the temple pierced straight through your chest. If you feel any different, tell us immediately," Ignis said. I nodded and sat down in front of the fire. My view of the fire was obscured when Prompto sat in front of me. "Prom-"

His hands cupped my cheeks gently. He stared at me with unwavering blue eyes. "You sure you're okay?" He asked. I know he's more worried than anyone else here. I covered his hands with mine and smiled. "I'm alright. If I feel any different, you'll be the first to know."

Prompto sighed and leaned his forehead against mine. I gently placed a kiss on his cheek. This made him blush a deep red. "Let's get some rest," I spoke softly. Prompto nodded and we headed into the tent for the night.

During the middle of the night, I felt someone outside the tent. I decided to let everyone sleep and check on it myself. With silent footsteps, I left the tent. I heard soft cries as I wandered around the campsite. A woman was weeping near the edge of the woods.

I stood a safe distance from the woman and watched her cry. Something caught my eye as I saw it glint in the moonlight. The woman was holding a knife. I took a step back and accidentally stepped on a small branch. I held my breath as the woman stopped crying. She turned around and faced me.

I gasp as I saw her eyes were hollow. A sickening grin spread across her face. Blood oozed from her mouth as she raised the knife. The woman began to cackle deeply. She then broke into a sprint and ran straight towards me. She suddenly flashed away and reappeared right in front of me. I screamed as she brought the knife down. I closed my eyes and fell to the ground.

"(Y/n)!" I felt warm arms wrap around my small frame. I opened my eyes and saw the woman was gone. "What happened?" Gladio asked. "T-there was a woman," I manage to say. They all looked around for the woman. Prompto helped me up and I also looked around.

"There is no one here, (Y/n)," Ignis said. I freed myself from Prompto's embrace and looked around again. "There was! She had no eyes and carried a knife! She tried to stab me!" I ran a hand through my (h/c) hair, trying to keep calm. "Could you've seen someone because of what happened in the temple?" Noctis questioned.

"It is highly possible. You may be seeing people who have already passed," Ignis replied. I placed a hand over where the light had pierced me. "Well, it was a temple. There could've been some old spell that activated when we entered. Now you can see dead people, (Y/n)," Gladio said with a slight smirk. I glare at him and cross my arms.

"You're not making me feel any better," I growl at him. Gladio puts his hands up in defense and backs away. "We should head back to the palace. Maybe there's a way we can identify the woman you saw," Noctis said. I nodded in agreement. Everyone went to bed except Prompto and I.

"Prom, go to bed. You need to rest." Prompto looked at me with sad, blue eyes. He took my hand in his and entwined our fingers. "I'm not leaving you alone out here." I leaned my head against his shoulder and closed my eyes. He rested his head upon mine. We didn't say a word as we stared at the beautiful moon overhead.

-Next Morning-

We were able to reach the palace in less than a few hours. I described the woman to everyone and we began our search. As I was reading a book, I heard a small child giggle. I looked over my shoulder and saw a small boy who was missing half of his face. I gasped and fell out of my chair. The boy began to cry and ran away.

"You okay?" Prompto asked as he helped me off the ground. "I'll be right back." I ran out of the room and chased after the boy. "Wait, (Y/n)!" I hear Noctis shout. Once I found the child, he was crying in the corner. I kneeled next to him and rested a hand on his back. "Are you alright?" I ask.

The little boy wiped away his tears and looked at me with a glassy brown eye. He told me about how he'd died and that he missed his family. I noticed his clothes were strange and he couldn't have been from Insomnia. "Wait, was your family buried in that temple?" I ask. He nods and wipes more tears from his cheek.

"My dear, who are you talking to?" I snap my body around and saw King Regis. "Your majesty, I was... um..." A small chuckle came from the king. "It seems you can see this young boy." I was shocked at his words. "You can see him too?" I ask. King Regis nods with a smile.

I filled him in on what happened at the temple today. The king explained about the power I had received. It is a gift only those who have a pure heart are allowed to receive. "But, a beam of light shot through me. Did I receive the power from that?" King Regis shook his head. "You've had this gift for years, (Y/n). The light was only a trigger."

"What do I do?" I ask, completely loss at what to do with the new ability. "Help those who need you, just like this boy." I glanced at the little boy. I smiled at him and wrapped my arms around his body. The boy stopped crying and soon vanished. King Regis placed a gentle hand on my shoulder. I thanked him and he left with a smile.

I heard someone gasping for air and turned around. Prompto was resting his hands on his knees, gasping for air. I smiled and told him about what happened. He finally was able to stand straight and I grabbed his hands in mine. "Let's go on a date," I announce out of the blue. "I could use a distraction right about now." Prompto smiled from ear to ear at my words. He jumps with joy and quickly pecks me on the cheek.

"Let's go!"
