~(Y/n)'s POV~

As I was flying, my eyes caught a glimpse of something. It glistened in the sunlight and I noticed it was a small piece of Gil. I picked it up in my beak and carried it with me. Before I made it home, the smell of food caught my attention.

A small piece of meat was placed inside a cage, perfect for my size. Even though I was in hawk form, I could feel my stomach growling. "I know it's a trap, but..." I said in my head. My stomach wouldn't silence as I stared at the food before me. "Maybe I could avoid triggering the trap."

I was desperate for food and decided to try my plan. I dropped the coin so I could get the food. I eased myself into the cage and picked up the piece of meat. My wing accidentally hit a strange mechanism, causing the cage door to shut on it. I screeched in pain, trying to free my wing. With no luck, I tired myself out.

I lost track of time as I close my eyes. When I reopen them, I saw a group of hunters. They spotted me and grabbed the cage. I did nothing as they carried me to a small campsite not far. Once they set me down, one man stared at me. "Do you think she's a shifter?" He asked.

Another man laughed and glanced at me for a quick second. "No way in hell. They died off years ago." Suddenly, a man emerged from the tent who looked liked the leader of the group. "Don't push the idea away just yet. We'll see if she's one or not," he smirked at me evilly. I pretended not to know what he was talking about. He left and so did the men who were surrounding my cage.

More hours fly by as I try to free my wing once again. The men laugh at my attempts at freedom. After their chuckling died down, a man rushed back to camp. He was out of breath and sweating heavily. "W-we've got trouble!"

The others jump to their feet and ready their weapons. All of them, including the leader, storm out of camp. I could hear gunfire and weapons clashing not far from the campsite. Suddenly all the fighting went silent. As I waited, a man who wasn't part of the hunters emerged from the woods. He wore glasses and a neat suit.

I was confused at why someone dressed like that would be in the woods. His eyes scanned the camp until they stopped on me. I noticed his eyes filled with relief once he saw me. His relief only raised even more questions in my mind. The man freed me from the cage and let me sit on his shoulder.

"Iggy, did you find her?" A person with blonde hair asked. The man gestured to me. "Yes, I have found (Y/n)." Now I was even more confused. How did they know my name? I started to feel uncomfortable and tried to get away. I completely forgot my wing was hurt and I fell to the ground. I screeched in pain when I landed on the ground.

"We're not gonna hurt you," the blonde said with a smile. Two more men emerged from the woods and joined us. I learned the man who helped me was Ignis. He picked me up gently and sat me back on his shoulder. "We should head back. (Y/n) is injured."

They took me back to their campsite and Ignis patched my wing up. I never left his side after that. Out of all of them, I was most comfortable with him. I learned who the others were, but stayed with him. Over dinner, I heard them talk about me. "So, Doctor Cathio wants us to take
(Y/n) back to him?" Noctis asked. Once I heard the name, I screeched loudly.

They were all taken back by my loud screech. Without thinking, I accidentally transformed. "You can't!" I shout. Their eyes widened at the sight of me. I realize mistake and take a few steps back. Ignis was the first to speak to me. "You are a shifter?"

I keep quiet and look down at the ground. I took a step forward but was stopped by Gladio. "You're going to leave?" I nodded and started to head into the woods. My good arm was pulled and I was back at the campsite. Ignis sat me down in a chair and kneeled in front of me. "Why do you not wish to see Doctor Cathio?" I looked away and refused to answer his question.

"Let's give (Y/n) some space," Noctis said. Ignis nodded and left me alone. I ran a hand over my bandaged arm and sighed. "Do not worry. Your arm will be fine in a few days," Ignis said as he handed me a cup of water. I thanked him in a soft voice and took a sip. After I finish my water, I transform and ruffle my feathers. Before long, I fell asleep.

A few days have passed and Ignis waits patiently for me to get comfortable. I haven't been back to my human form since the first day. My wing was fully healed and I flew around. I didn't leave the campsite because I know everyone would be worried if I disappeared suddenly. I landed in front of the fire and transformed.

"Ignis, may I speak with you?" I ask the advisor. "Of course, (Y/n)." I took him out of earshot and began to tell him about Doctor Cathio. Ignis' eyes widened as I told my story. As I finished, Ignis placed his hands on my shoulders. His actions shocked me a little. I stared into his green eyes while he stared back into my (e/c) ones.

"We will make sure Doctor Cathio doesn't get away with this. Do you have any family to stay with?" I shook my head as I felt tears threaten to fall. Some tears escaped, but Ignis wiped them away. We went back to the campsite and Ignis told them about the doctor. "What?! That's horrible!" Prompto shouts.

"The only reason he wants you back is because you're his test subject?" Noctis asked with wide eyes. I nodded and hugged Ignis' arm. "We will take (Y/n) back to Insomnia and deal with Doctor Cathio then," Ignis said. We all agreed and I transformed. I sat on Ignis' shoulder and snuggled close to him.

After dinner, Ignis was the last one up. Once he finished the dishes, he called for me. I landed on his arm and he began to rub my head. "We will make sure Doctor Cathio pays for what he has done and never gets away with it again."

Weeks pass and we arrive back in Insomnia. I was with Ignis while the others were talking to the king. I was in my human form and enjoying small talk with him. As we were waiting, I saw the one person I never wanted to see again. Ignis immediately noticed my uneasiness and glanced in the direction I was looking. Doctor Cathio spotted me and began to storm over. Ignis quickly stood in front of me protectively.

"Thank you for finding (Y/n), Mr. Scientia." Cathio looked past Ignis and glared at me sharply. He tried to grab me, but Ignis stopped him. "I believe you have some explaining to do," Ignis said in a lower voice than usual.

"What did you tell him?" Cathio asked harshly as he stared at me. "Enough to know you are guilty, Cathio," King Regis said as he joined us with the others. The doctor gritted his teeth and tried to run. Gladio stopped him and handed him over to the royal guards. King Regis smiled warmly at me. "My dear, I have heard what he did to you. (Y/n), you are welcome to stay at the palace."

His words made me so happy. It brought a smile to my face. Without hesitating, I hugged Ignis from behind. "Thank you so much," I said softly. Ignis turned around in my arms and hugged me back.

"Anything for you, (Y/n)."
