84) Ignis

~3rd Person POV~

"Whatcha looking at, Iggy?" Prompto asked, leaning over the side of the car to peer at what Ignis was looking at. Ignis was messing with a ring that used to belong to someone special to him.

"That looks expensive. Whose is it?" Noctis asked once he heard Prompto's question. Ignis sighed and decided to tell everyone. "It belonged to (Y/n). I gave it to her on her fifteenth birthday. We knew each other since we were little."

Gladio glanced at the beautiful blue ring in Ignis' hand. "Where is (Y/n)?" Ignis clutched the ring in his hand tightly. "Missing," Ignis simply replied, holding in his sorrow. Their eyes widened at the word. This was the first time they heard about a girl from Ignis and she was also missing.

"For how long?" Noctis pried. Ignis placed the ring back in his pocket with closed eyes. "Five years." They all gasped at his reply. "Five years? Didn't you go search for her?" Prompto asked. Ignis nodded. "I've been searching everywhere since she disappeared. I haven't given up on finding her and I never will," Ignis replied strongly. "How about we search for her now?" Gladio suggested.

"Yeah! We could help!" Prompto yelled cheerfully. Ignis couldn't believe what he was hearing. They all wanted to help him find (Y/n). A smile spread across his face. "Maybe with your help, we'll have a better chance of finding her." They began their search right away.

Ignis told them about where (Y/n) was last seen. They checked cities and small towns all around to find the missing girl. Hours turned into days and days turned to weeks. Their trail had gone cold in Hammerhead. The group had decided to spend the night in town.

Morning came and they were all prepared to leave until they spotted a Niflheim ship flying overhead. "What're they doing here?" Gladio growled. "Don't know, but we're going to find out," Noctis announced. They followed the ship in the Regalia until it stopped. A small hatch on the ship's side opened and someone jumped out. Ignis stopped the Regalia and everyone got out. Once they got a closer look at the person, they realized it was a girl wearing a strange mask.

"Who the hell is that?" Gladio asked, confusion written all over his face. "Why don't you ask her?" Noctis teased. Gladio elbowed Noctis in the stomach for his comment. The girl pulled out a sharp but thin blade. Ignis saw the sword and thought it looked familiar. A thought occurred to him and he turned to the others. "Try to get the mask off of her."

"What?! Why?!" Prompto shouts in disbelief. "You don't think..." Noctis started but didn't finish his sentence. Ignis summoned his daggers with a little hesitation. "The sword she's using resembles the one (Y/n) uses. It's possible that she is (Y/n) or she knows where to find her."

"So, we just need to get her mask off to see if she is (Y/n)?" Prompto asked. Ignis nodded to the blonde. "Do not hurt her. If it is (Y/n), I could not bear to see her get hurt."

"We'll get that mask off," Gladio said confidently. With those final words, the battle against the strange girl began. She was much stronger than they thought. They were having trouble getting close enough to get the mask off her face. "She's too strong!" Prompto shouts. Ignis gritted his teeth. He knew Prompto was right.

Ignis wasn't thinking straight and charged at the girl. "What are you doing?!" Noctis shouts at his advisor. He ignored the prince's shouts and attacked the girl head-on. The girl blocked Ignis' daggers with her blade. He got a closer look at the blade and saw the familiar initials. "(Y/n)..."

The girl's eyes widened at the name. Her grip loosened and Ignis took the advantage. He pushed her back and tore the mask off the girl's face. Strands of (h/c) hair whirled in the faint breeze as the girl steps away from Ignis.

The girl didn't attack him as he smashed the mask on the ground. Ignis looked up and saw it was
(Y/n), the love of his life. Her dull eyes slowly changed back into the lively (e/c) ones he loved to get lost in. "I-Ignis?" (Y/n) stutters. She quickly dispels her blade and stared at Ignis with wide eyes.

"W-what is going on?" She asked. Ignis slowly approached her and wrapped his arms around her small frame. "You've been missing for five years, (Y/n)." She couldn't believe what Ignis just said, but she knew him too well and he would never lie to her. "All I remember is being in Hammerhead and running into Ardyn. Everything after that is a blur," she said just above a whisper. Ignis tightened his arms around her. "They must have been controlling you with the mask."

"I... I didn't hurt anyone, did I?" She asked, her hands shaking slightly. Ignis shook his head. "No, everyone is fine." (Y/n) sighed in relief at his words. They broke the hug and Ignis pulled out the ring. "I believe you dropped this." He slips the ring back on her finger with a smile.

"Thank you, Ignis." She kissed him on the cheek gently. The other three watched the scene before them with warm smiles on their faces. Ignis leaned his forehead against (Y/n)'s and stared into her
(e/c) eyes with his green ones. "Promise me that you will tell me when you must leave the city. I do not wish for something like this to happen ever again."

(Y/n) smiled from ear to ear. "I promise. You'll be the first to know." The two exchanged a short but sweet kiss. They headed back to the others and were on their way back to Insomnia.
