73) Prompto (Part II)

~(Y/n)'s POV~

Weeks have passed and Prompto has visited every day. I'm surprised the others allow so many visits. After all, Noctis is the Prince of Lucis. He must have some royal duties to attend to. I was currently in the barn with Cyril. The baby Chocobos were chirping and running around my feet. I pick them up and place them on Cyril's back. He chirps and nudges one of them with his beak.

My father walks in with a bright smile. "How's everybody today?" He asked. All the Chocobos chirped in unison. I laugh as my dad grins happily. "And how's my sweetheart today?" He said as he walked over to me. "I'm fine, father. I should be asking you that question. Your back's been hurting more these days. Maybe you should take the day off?" I suggest. He shook his head and ran a hand through Cyril's blue feathers. "I couldn't leave all the work to you."

"There's no need to worry. I can handle them." I gesture to all the Chocobos. "But-" I cut my father off as I push him towards the house. "Go get some rest. I'll take care of everything." He nodded and thanked me before he left. I began my chores and let all the Chocobos into the pasture.

Cyril stayed behind to help me carry heavy things. "I swear, you're not a normal Chocobo." I smirk at him. He just chirps and helps me carry the babies to the pasture. I saw a group of men at the front, waiting for service. "Go take the babies. I've got customers to attend to." Cyril ruffles his feathers as if danger was nearby. He refused to leave my side. "Alright, you can come with me. Just this once!" I poke his beak as we head to take care of the customers.

"What can I help you with?" I asked with a smile. "We wanted to buy a few of your Chocobos," the man, who seemed like the leader of the group, asked. I'm guessing they didn't read the sign before they arrived. "I'm sorry. Our Chocobos aren't for sale. You can only rent them for a certain amount of time. We also have weekly races where you can enter to win prizes."

The man exchanged glances with his whole group. Cyril ran over, chirping loudly. He began pecking at the man. "Cyril, stop!" I heard something hit the ground beside the man. My eyes traveled to what fell on the ground. A pistol. "It seems we'll be having to use these after all," the man said and pulled out another pistol. He aimed it directly at my head with a grin plastered on his face.

He pulled the trigger, but I was able to turn Cyril and myself invisible. The bullets passed through us and rang out in the distance. I hopped on Cyril's back and he ran towards the other Chocobos. They must've sensed the danger because they all scattered. I rounded them up and guided them to the barn. The men were running and shooting and me. I locked the barn door and made myself invisible.

"Where did she go?!" One man shouts. They all growl in frustration. "Find her!" The leader shouts. I kept myself invisible as I headed to warn my father. I ran into the house and found him asleep. "Father, wake up!" I shake his body. He opens his eyes slowly. "What's wrong, (Y/n)?" I told him about the men and that he would be safest in the basement. "I'm not letting you face them alone." He grabs my arm and stops me from leaving. "I won't be alone." Father seemed confused as I ran out of the house.

"There she is!" A man shouts. I ran all the way to the front of the pasture in search of the black car. I know it was too early for Prompto to arrive. Bullets  whizzed past my head as I looked around. I tried to turn invisible, but I've exhausted my mana. "(Y/n)!" I was suddenly taken into someone's arms. Prompto pulled me to cover and readied his own pistol.

"You okay?" He asked as he checked over my body for injuries. "I'm fine. You guys are early today."

"We heard about a group of suspicious men heading in this direction. That's why we're early."

"Thank goodness you did. The only defense I have is invisibility, but I've used up all my mana."

"This should help."

Prompto handed me a small vial. I was confused at what the liquid was. He noticed and told me that the liquid would restore my mana. I quickly drank it but began to cough. "Sorry. Forgot to mention it doesn't taste very good." I grabbed Prompto's free hand and told him of a plan I'd just come up with. "I'll draw their fire. You take that chance and take out as many as you can." I went to stand up, but Prompto yanked me back down. "That's suicide! I won't let you do it!"

I kissed him on the cheek to reassure him. My actions had caused his grip to loosen. I pulled away and distracted the men. "Kill her!" A man shouts and points at me. I went invisible and ran over to the barn. I went through a small door in the side of the barn that only I could fit through. All the Chocobos were frantic, but I was able to calm them down. Cyril came over and nudged his beak against my cheek. "Help has arrived," I said with a smile. He chirps happily and heads back to his stall.

"(Y/n)? Are you in there?" Prompto's voice came from the other side of the barn door. "Yeah, I'll unlock the door." I crawl out the small door with the key to the front door of the barn. Prompto smiles once he sees I'm not injured. I noticed the others were taking the men away. Without warning, Prompto squishes me in his arms. "I'm glad you're okay," he whispered in my ear. I didn't hesitate as I wrapped my arms around him, too.

We broke the hug and I unlocked the barn. All the Chocobos ran out happily and went back to the pasture. "Where's your father?" Prompto asked worriedly. I grabbed his hand and smiled. "He's fine. I told him to head to the basement before the men entered the house."

Prompto was relieved to hear my answer. His worried look was replaced with a warm smile. "You missed earlier," he said out of the blue. "Missed?" I questioned. His smile turns into a grin as he taps his cheek. "Oh, the kiss on the cheek. Don't worry. I won't miss this time." I pecked him on the lips and giggled. His cheeks started to turn red from embarrassment.

I didn't let him say a word as I ran away from him. "H-hey, (Y/n)!" He yells and begins chasing after me. "I didn't get to kiss back!" He whines. "You've got to catch me first!" I yell to him. Prompto began to laugh as our chase lasted only a few minutes. Prompto had caught me in his arms and connected our lips in a passionate kiss.
