71) Gladiolus

A/n: A request from KatyStaysHere. I'm a little rusty about this part of the game. It's been awhile since I've beaten it. I also apologize that it's so short. Love you all!!!

~(Y/n)'s POV~

We watch as Noctis heads up the stairs to the palace. He was going to face Ardyn by himself and reclaim the throne that's rightfully his. Before he left, Noctis asked Prompto if he could have a picture. Prompto let him choose from the countless ones he had taken on our journey together. Noctis chose the one where we were all leaning against the Regalia with smiles.

As he disappeared behind the grand doors of the palace, cries from daemons surrounded us. "Let's get started. Not a single one of theses bastards is getting past us," Glaido said and summoned his broadsword. "Noct is going to need our help more than ever," Prompto said and aimed his pistol at a few daemons that were closing in.

"I bet I could kill more than you," I smirk at Gladio. He chuckled deeply as I summoned my twin blades.

"You're on, sweetheart." I scoffed at the nickname he's been calling me ever since we admitted our feeling to each other ten years ago. "Do not get distracted," Ignis told us. We all nodded and began killing daemons left and right.

"I'm gonna need a boost!" I shout towards Gladio. He grins and gives me a thumbs up. I run towards him and he throws me into the air. I cast a powerful and deadly ice spell to kill all the daemons that had come too close to the palace. I landed perfectly on my feet and smirk at my work.

Suddenly a sharp pain shot through my chest. My eyes widened when I saw a horn sticking through my chest. A behemoth had snuck behind me and impaled my chest with its massive horn. It lifted its head and shook me off its horn. My body went flying and I could hear my name being called out over and over again.

"No... No!" Gladio yelled. I felt someone's presence and knew it was Gladio. He had pulled me close and tried to heal my massive wound with elixirs. I took his hand with my shaky one. "Don't leave me..." He mutters sadly.

"I'm... Sorry... Gladio. I love... You." My world grew dark and I felt my life leave my body. I felt light as air and that all the worries of the world are gone. I was now in a better place, even though the love of my life isn't with me on this journey.

When I opened my eyes, the vast sea stretched out before me. The air was cool and crisp. It made my whole body feel refreshed.

I curled my toes in the soft sand under me and watched the sunset. The water created a beautiful melody as the waves crashed against the shore. "So... This is what peace looks like." I sit down on the sand and let the water come up to my feet. Images of Gladio and the others filled my mind. Tears began to stream down my cheeks.

"I miss you so much, Gladio." I cry into my knees uncontrollably. Hours flew by as I continued to cry. I hope the others are doing well. "(Y/n)?" I heard someone call my name. My head snapped around and I saw Prompto with Ignis not far behind.

"How?" I ask. They joined and sat down next to me. "Well... We all were killed. A powerful daemon showed up and the three of us couldn't take it down. And now... We're here," Prompto explained. I tried to imagine what they went through without me.

"Wait, you all died?" I asked. They both nodded. "Gladdy was the last one to die. I'm sure he'll be here soon."

"Or I'm here now." A deep voice rumbled behind us. Before I could turn around, I was pulled into warm and strong arms. We didn't say a word and I hugged him back. Ignis and Prompto were smiling at both of us. "We'll give you both some time alone," Ignis said and dragged Prompto with him.

"I'd thought I'd never see you again," I whisper. Gladio runs a hand through my (h/c) hair. "Nothing can keep us apart, not even death," he whispered back. I rested my hands over his cheeks and rubbed them with my thumbs. He leaned his forehead gently against mine. I couldn't hold myself back and kissed him sweetly on the lips. Gladio immediately kissed back.

Our bodies connected like puzzle pieces while our lips sparked with passion. Our long kiss ended, but we kept hugging each other. Before long, we both were exhausted. I sat in his lap while he twirled my hair around his fingers. "I wonder how Noct is doing," I said out of the blue. "Knowing him, I'm sure he's doing just fine," Gladio said with a small grin.

"He has saved all of Lucis and ended Niflheim's reign. Ardyn is dead and the true King has returned. I'm glad we were a part of this journey. I would never exchange it for anything in the world."

"Our job is done. Now we can rest in peace without trouble." Gladio pulled me closer and rested his chin on the top of my head. A smile spread across my face as happy thoughts sped through my mind. "Now we're truly at peace. All I need is you and I'll be fine."

"Me too, sweetheart." Gladio kissed the top of my head. I started to feel sleepy and so did Gladio. We moved to lay down on the sand and watched the clouds above us. I took one of Gladio's hands in one of my smaller ones. "We'll always be together, forever."
