69) Ignis (Part I)

~(Y/n)'s POV~

"The sky is so clear tonight." I laid on my back and watched the beautiful stars twinkle above. With my vast knowledge of constellations, I was able to spot Scorpio. Since it was early July, I was able to spot it easily. My mind wandered through countless of thoughts about Scorpio. (A/n: I used Scorpio because it's my star sign)

I stretched towards the constellation as if I could touch it. Suddenly my outstretched hand was taken in someone else's warm one. "There you are." My eyes met a pair of green ones. "I have been looking for you," Ignis said. I smiled and stood up. "Did you need me?" I ask.

"Yes. I would love for you to help me cook. You're the only other person here who knows how to without burning everything." I giggled at his response. "I'd love to help, Iggy." A smile graces his lips as he tightened his hold on my hand. We headed back to the campsite and saw the other three sitting by the fire. Ignis handled the pots while I began cutting up the ingredients.

Ignis and I cooked up breaded cutlet with tomato. "At least it doesn't have broccoli. Noct wouldn't even touch it," I said with a smile. "Yes, he would be very displeased," Ignis agreed. We handed out dinner and everyone was thankful. After everyone ate, we all went to sleep.

-Next Morning-

"Guys, I found it!" Prompto shouted as we packed up the campsite. I almost dropped the chair I was holding when he yelled. "Found what?" Gladio asked the loud blonde. Prompto told us about how he found a cave nearby that looked exactly where our request was taking us. "Are you sure?" The prince voiced. Prompto nodded confidently. "I have a bad feeling abut this..." I mumble.

"That makes two of us," Ignis said. We left all our stuff in the Regalia and Prompto showed us to the cave. It wasn't far from where we had camped last night. I stood at the entrance and stared into the darkness of the cave. "It's dark."

"Very," Ignis added. The others stood next to me and glanced into the cave as well. "Do we have to?" Noctis groaned. "If we want to find that necklace, then yes," Gladio answered. "So, the request said the necklace was dropped in a cave west of Hammerhead. The page also said there was a strange rock formation to signal we are in the right place. But, I don't see it," I said and crossed my arms over my chest.

"Is this it?" Prompto asked and pointed to a rock formation behind us. "Uh, yeah," Noctis said. We headed into the cave with heavy steps. I used fire magic and lit the way while the others had small flashlights. I took the lead as we headed deeper into the darkness. We all were quiet until the small pitter patter of feet broke the silence. "Goblins!" Gladio shouts. I shot the fire I had used as light at one of the goblins. It screamed out in pain and turned into a pile of ashes.

One of the goblins charged at me and attacked. I dodged before the monster could get a scratch on me. I regretted dodging because my foot slipped. My body fell backwards and I thought I would hit the hard ground. When I noticed I was falling into pitch blackness, someone grabbed my wrist. A searing pain shot through my arm after my wrist was grabbed. I yelped in pain as it grew more intense.

I looked up and saw Ignis was the one who caught me. "(Y/n), please be more careful. Due to your careless action, I have lost years of my life worrying about you." I couldn't help but laugh. Suddenly a glint of something caught my eyes. I looked down and saw the necklace we were supposed to retrieve. It was dangling from the edge of a rock.

"Iggy, I need you to do something for me." I stared into his green eyes. He raised an eyebrow and I continued. "I need you let go." His green eyes widened at my request. "There is no way I am letting go," he said sternly.

"I know, but you have to! I've found the necklace!" I inform him. His grip tightened on my wrist. "That necklace is not more important than your life!" He shouts. His words made me happy, but I knew we needed the money, desperately. "Forgive me, Ignis." He was confused at why I was apologizing. I casted lightning magic and shocked the hand he was holding me with. He grits his teeth in pain and lets me go. "(Y/n)!"

I slide down the rocky surface until I reach the necklace.

"Gotcha!" I grab the necklace and put it in my pocket. When I looked up, I saw I was a little further down than I thought. My eyes met Ignis' and I noticed everyone else was looking over the edge at me. "I've got the necklace!" I shout up to them. "That's way too dangerous, (Y/n)!" Prompto shouts back. "Don't worry. I'll be right up!" I began climbing back up to reach the others.

I reached out to grab Ignis' outstretched hand, but then everything started to shake. "Why now?!" Noctis shouts. "(Y/n), hurry!" Ignis shouts. I nod and try to grab his hand. Another strong shake sent me sliding down the side. I was able to stop myself with my hands. I dug my nails into the rock and my fingers began to cramp. "We need to help her!" Prompto screams. Noctis summoned his blade, but Gladio stopped him.

"Noct, it's too dangerous," Gladio stated. Noctis looked helpless and dispelled his blade. I'm going to throw the necklace up to you," I said. "Don't worry about the necklace!" Ignis yells. "Yeah, just concentrate on getting to safety!" Prompto adds. I sighed and nodded. I began climbing up again. Another earthquake occurred and this one was powerful. I couldn't hold on tight and my grip slipped.

I tried to grab onto anything, but I fell into pitch blackness. The last thing I heard was Ignis yelling my name desperately. As my surroundings darkened, so did my consciousness.
