5) Ignis

~(Y/n)'s POV~

I was with Lady Lunafreya in her room helping with royal duties. She was signing papers as I sealed them with the royal seal. A maid came in and took the finished letters and documents. A few hours pass and a familiar husky (A/n: Umbra's a husky, right?) is standing in the doorway. "Lady Luna, you have a message," I smiled at her. She ran over to Umbra and checked her message from Prince Noctis. She giggled and walks over to me.

"You have a letter as well, (Y/n)." She handed me a letter that only had my name on it. "Who sent it?" I ask curiously. She continued to laugh. "Open it and see," she grinned. I opened it and saw the familiar writing. "Ignis..." His name rolled off my tongue smoothly. I read over the letter and smiled at the end. "So... What does it say?" Lady Luna leans over my shoulder to peep. I quickly close it and hide it behind my back. "N-nothing!" I quickly deny. "You and Ignis are so cute together." She giggled and went back to her duties.

"Noctis shall be here tomorrow. You'll be able to see Ignis as well." Her eyes never left the papers in front of her. "And you'll be able to see your sweet Prince," I grin. Her cheeks flare up and I laugh. "Don't stay up too late. You have a speech tomorrow," I informed her. She nodded and wished me a goodnight. I left for the night and headed to bed.

-Next Morning-

I guided Lady Lunafreya to the front of the palace so she could give her speech. All of Altissia was gathered and cheered as she walked out. I stood by her side with a dress she chose out for me at the last minute.

(A/n: Hope you like it😊)

Everyone quieted down and she began her speech. I searched through the wave of people and saw four familiar faces. They all smiled and waved at me. I nodded and smiled back at them. The smile on Ignis' face was one of his rare ones. It wasn't forced and it felt warm. Lady Lunafreya's speech was coming to an end. Before she could say farewell to her people, a gun shot rang out. A group of men in the crowd were wielding guns and shooting in the air.

"Get her and her advisor!" A man shouted and pointed at both Luna and I. I grabbed her hand and took her back in the palace. A guard was on duty and I handed her over to him. "(Y/n), what about you?" She asked. "I'm going to keep them away from the door as long as I can. Get her to safety!" I yell to the guard. He nods and takes Luna to a safe place. I head back out front and see the men charging for the door. Noctis, Ignis, Prompto, and Gladio were holding off as many as possible. I quickly cast a protective barrier around me and the door to the palace. The gang of men started shooting and banging on my barrier. "You can't keep this up forever!" One man shouts. "Watch me..." I growl at him. They flinch at my harsh tone and took a few steps back.

"Don't let her go. I want her alive," the man, I assume who was the leader, said. His men nodded and began beating on the barrier once again. My mana was being depleted faster every time they hit my barrier. "I can see you're losing mana. Give up and let us through," the leader grinned evilly. "I will never let you hurt Lady Lunafreya!" I shout at him. He clicks his tongue in annoyance and begins casting fire magic on my barrier.

Minutes felt like hours as the gang continued to attack my barrier. I couldn't hold it up much longer and felt myself growing weak. My barrier almost fell, but the gang stopped attacking. Ignis was standing in front of me. I couldn't tell what his expression was because he was facing the men. He annihilated all the enemies around me and I sighed in relief. My barrier fell down and my exhaustion hit me hard. I crashed to my knees and began breathing heavy. Ignis came over and made sure I was okay. "I-I'm fine, Ignis," I reassure him. "Lean on me," he whispered in my ear. I nodded and he picked me up in his arms.

"(Y/n), are you alright?!" A worried Prompto yelled as he ran to us. I nodded and rested my head on Ignis' chest. Noctis and Gladio joined the rest of us in front of the palace. "Thank you for protecting Luna, (Y/n)," Noctis said with a smile. "That was impressive. I didn't know you could keep a barrier up that long. Especially when it's being attacked by so many men," Gladio said, his voice full of surprise. "Years of practice," I smile weakly at them. "Let's get you inside," Ignis said. Gladio opened the door and held it for all of us. Lady Lunafreya was running down the hall to us with worry painted all over her features.

"(Y/n), you used too much mana. Ignis, I'll show you to her room." Lady Luna began walking to my room with Ignis and I in tow. We reach my room and Luna leaves us alone. Ignis lays me gently on the bed and makes sure I'm not wounded anywhere. I giggle softly and smile at him. "I'm fine, Ignis. I'm just exhausted." He sighs and pushes his glasses up his nose. "I thought my heart would stop when I saw you being attacked," he said. I placed one of my hands on his cheeks and made him look at me. "I'd never leave you behind."

"You're too stubborn. I'm afraid you might haunt me if I lose you," he chuckled. I rolled my eyes playfully and kissed his cheek. "Trust me, you're ten times more stubborn than me. That's just one of the reasons I fell for you." I run a hand through his hair. "I'm sorry your visit was ruined," I apologize to him. "No. We were informed that a group of men were going to attack during the speech. We left Insomnia as quick as possible to get here. I'm glad we made it in time," he said. A knock came from my door and Ignis went to answer it. He looked back at me before he opened the door. "Get some rest, (Y/n). I'll be back as soon as possible."

Ignis opened the door and I got a glimpse of Gladio before it shut behind him. I sigh and crash my head on the pillow. I closed my eyes and fell asleep with ease. While I was sleeping I thought I heard my door open, but I ignored it. I could feel someone getting closer to me and then I felt a warm sensation on my lips. I opened my eyes and saw Ignis. I kissed back and he was shocked that I was awake. "I didn't mean to wake you," he apologizes. I shook my head. "No, I need to get up anyways. I should change and give the dress back to Lady Lunafreya." I stood up from the bed and went to the bathroom to change.

When I finished changing, Ignis was waiting for me and held out his hand for me. I grabbed it without hesitation and smiled happily. We don't get to see each other often and when we do, it's usually for work. It's nice that we have a little time to ourselves, but I wish we had more moments like this. The silence wasn't awkward. Both of us were smiling and walking to Lady Luna's room.

I gave the dress back and we headed back to my room. We both sat on the bed and watched the moon rise high in the sky. "It's been a long day..." I sigh. I head outside to my balcony and watched the moon's reflection on the surface of the water. I lean my hands on the railing. Ignis rested his hands on mine and leaned his head on my shoulder. "Too bad you have to leave tomorrow," I say, sadness taking over my voice. Ignis kisses me on the cheek. "I wish I could take you with me, (Y/n)." He moves one of his hands to my (h/c) hair and glides his fingers through gently. I lean against his chest and he smiles warmly down at me. I peck him on the lips and we watch the waves crash against the palace together in each other's warmth.
