~(Y/n)'s POV~
"Stupid sunglasses," I complain and push them up my nose. I always wear them when I go out so people don't see my (e/c) eyes. Even in human form, they still are slit like a dragons which is annoying. I sigh as I enter the Crow's Nest in Hammerhead. I order a cup of hot tea and admire the sun shining through the windows. "We don't have enough Gil!" A man shouts. I rip my gaze from the sunshine and see a group of men enter the diner. "What do we do? We haven't eaten in a few days," a man with raven hair mutters. I place my tea down gently and feel the pouch of Gil I have tied around my waist.
"Like I need all of it," I mumble to myself. I approach a waiter and hand him plenty of Gil to cover the entire menu. "Tell them it's on me." I point to the group and the waiter nods. I brush a strand of (h/c) hair behind my ear and return to my cup of tea. I peek through the top of my sunglasses and see the waiter attending to the group. They were shocked and didn't say a word. Suddenly the man with raven hair looked in my direction and I quickly flicked my eyes to the window. "Just get comfortable and the food will be out soon," the waiter said. They all sat down and waited with smiles and grins. I smile at their happy faces and finish up my tea. I place the Gil on the table and leave.
I was walking down the road until I heard a voice. "Hey!" I turn around and see the man with the raven hair. I made sure my sunglasses were on and greeted him with a smile. "You're the one who paid for us," he said. I nodded and continued to smile. "I overheard your conversation when you entered the diner. That's when I went up to the waiter and paid for everything on the menu. I wasn't sure what you liked and I have plenty of Gil to pay for everything on the menu over and over again."
"Thank you," he smiled brightly. "You're welcome. Oh! I almost forgot." I pulled a small pouch out of my pocket and tossed it to him. He caught it with ease and was surprised. "For the road. Don't spend it all in one place." I wink and begin walking back home. "Wait! Can I... Get your name?" He asked. I look over my shoulder and grin. "(Y/n)." His smile grew and he held the pouch of Gil tightly. "Thanks for everything, (Y/n). The guys are going to go crazy over this," he said. I giggle and smile at him. "It was my pleasure, Noctis." His eyes grew wide and I couldn't help but laugh a little. "I overheard your name when you entered. It was nice meeting you, Noctis." I wave farewell and begin my long walk home.
~3rd Person POV (with Noctis)~
Noctis watched as (Y/n) walked down the road and vanished from sight. He couldn't believe it. She gave him a pouch full of Gil. He had no idea how much was in it, but it sure was heavy. He went back into the diner and showed the others the pouch of Gil. "Where the hell did you get all this?!" Prompto shouts. Gladio kicks the blonde's leg under the table to silence him. "Don't tell me you pondered her out of Gil..." Ignis fixed his glasses and glanced at the prince. "No, she gave it to me. She's also the one who paid for our meal." Prompto swallows his drink and began coughing. "Dude, this meal was great! Where did she go?"
"She's already gone," Noctis sighs sadly. Gladio grins and begins teasing him. "Already crushing on a girl you've only known for five minutes?" He taunted. Noctis' face started to turn red and Gladio chuckled deeply. "We must find and repay her for her kindness. Did you get her name?" Ignis asked.
"(Y/n)," Noctis replied. "(Y/n)... That's a pretty name," Prompto chirps. "Why don't we choose a hunting request and pay her back with that?" Gladio suggests. "That would be the easiest and quickest way. Let's go choose one," Ignis says. They all finish their meal and head over to a board with myriads of requests on it. "What about this one?" Prompto takes one piece of paper down and shows it to the others.
"A dragon?" Gladio was confused at why someone would want to hunt down one. "Aren't they peaceful?" Noctis asked. "Yes, I'm confused as well," Ignis responds. Gladio grabs the paper and scans it over and over again. "Is there a way we can find out who put this up?" He asked. "I did." The group turns around and sees a man who looks to be around the same age as them. "That dragon killed my brother. I want his death to be avenged," the man said. "And who are you?" Prompto asked. "My name's Vinert. Please, I'll even double the amount of Gil," he begged. Noctis glanced around at the others and they all shared the same expression.
"Hold on." Gladio steps in and gives Vinert and confused look. "You're telling me that this dragon killed your brother. How? The only way it could've killed your brother is if he got too close and tried to harm the dragon. They are peaceful unless provoked." Gladio crossed his arms and glared at Vinert. He takes a step back and hits the table behind him. "You're wrong! They're not peaceful! Go see for yourself!" He shouts and runs out of the diner. They all sigh and Noctis glances down at the paper one more time. "Let's go. I don't believe him one bit."
"We're going to see a dragon?" Prompto asked, excitement apparent in his voice. The prince nods and they all leave the diner. Ignis gets behind the wheel and drives just north of Hammerhead. People say that's where the dragon has resided for years without hurting anyone. "I'm still confused..." Noctis murmurs. "Yeah, me too. People talk about this dragon in high regards. No one has ever spoken badly about it," Gladio said. "I feel like Vinert is hiding something," Prompto speaks up. "We'll check it out and see. Just don't attack it," Ignis informs as they reach a cave entrance. "What are you all doing here?" A female voice asked. Noctis turns around and sees (Y/n).
"(Y/n)," the prince whispers the girl's name. "So you're (Y/n)!" Prompto cheers and smiles at the girl. She glances between all of them searching for her answer. "We're here looking for a dragon. A man claims that it killed his brother. Do you know anything about it?" Ignis questions. "Are you talking about Vinert's brother?" She crossed her arms, scorn filled her voice. They all nodded and she sighed in annoyance. "His brother had it coming because of what he did," she said. "What did he do?" Gladio asked the (h/c) haired girl. "He tried to steal the scales off of the dragon and sell them for Gil. He snuck into the cave one night and tried to kill it."
"You know a lot about this," Ignis said. She pulls off her sunglasses and reveals her eyes. They all gasp in shock. "You're... The dragon," Noctis said. She nodded and looked at them with her slit eyes. She took a few steps back and transformed into her true self. (A/n: Picture above)
"Woah..." Prompto mutters. "Woah is right," Gladio said, staring at the dragon before them. Noctis took a step towards (Y/n) and she lowered her head to his level. He rested a hand on her muzzle and smiled at her. "You killed Vinert's brother because he was trying to steal your scales. That means Vinert has some explaining to do. I'll make sure your are never hunted, (Y/n)." He ran his hand over her beautiful black scales and stared into her beautiful eyes. She leaned into his touch and growled lowly in response. Too bad he didn't know what she was saying or thinking. Prompto walked up next to Noctis and began rubbing (Y/n)'s muzzle with him. "So cool~!" Cheered the blonde.
Noctis felt someone else's presence and saw Vinert with a group of people behind him. "What do you want?" The prince spat at the lying man. "That thing you're touching," he fired back. "We won't allow it," Ignis said and took a few steps forward. "You lied just so you could get what your brother was after," Gladio barked. Vinert started to laugh like a maniac and shot an arrow towards the prince. (Y/n) deflected it with her tail and roared loudly at Vinert. She shot ice at him and lightning. "She controls more than one element?!" Vinert shouts in surprise. "(Y/n)'s more than cool," Prompto praised. (Y/n) approaches the men and they all began shaking in fear. She growled at them and they all flinched.
"Attack!" Vinert shouts. The men resolve themselves and charge at (Y/n). She sweeps her tail and knocks most of the men down. Vinert shoots another arrow and it bounces off her chest. He continued to shoot, but none of his arrows were piercing her scales. She grabbed Vinert by his collar with her sharp teeth. He screamed and all the men that followed him ran away in fear. She lowers him down and puts him right in front of Noctis. "Why?" Noctis glares at him. Vinert swallows hard and steps back, only to run into (Y/n)'s sharp claws.
"I-I was desperate for money. A-A man promised us a lot of Gil if we killed the dragon and brought her scales back," he stutters. (Y/n) growled and was about to lung at him. Prompto rested a gentle hand on her leg and calmed her down. She reluctantly laid down and watched as Noctis dealt with Vinert. "Get out of here. If we hear your name or that you ever attacked (Y/n), we won't hesitate to cut you down." Noctis glared menacingly at him. Vinert nodded profusely and ran away with shaky legs. Ignis and Gladio joined their friends and their new dragon acquaintance. "So... What now?" Prompto asked. Noctis looked into (Y/n)'s eyes and smiled. "Why don't we let (Y/n) join us?" Noctis suggests.
(Y/n)'s eyes grew wide as she looked over the group. "I'm totally for it!" Prompto cheers. "Hell yeah," Gladio grinned. All eyes were now on Ignis. (Y/n) nudged him with her muzzle and he grinned. "Alright, she can come with us." They all cheered and (Y/n) turned into her human form and smiled. "This is going to be fun."
