~(Y/n)'s POV~

Blood painted the palace like an eerie and decrepit canvas. Dead bodies scattered everywhere, mangled into inhuman positions. Body parts strewn about with the smell of flesh and blood filling the air that once was pure and beautiful. I couldn't believe the sight before me. My feet carried me through the whole palace. All the rooms were empty or had dead servants in them. The last place I went was the training room. When I entered, I gasped. Ignis, Prompto, and Noctis were covered in blood and weren't breathing. "N-no..." I crashed to my knees and held my head in my hands. I started to cry and yell in disbelief. The room suddenly went dark and I saw Gladio running towards me. Before he could grab my hand, his eyes went wide and blood spilled from his chest.

"G-Gladio..." I look down at his dead form and feel something sticky on my hand. I glance at my hands and see a blade covered in blood. Fear consumed me and I threw the blade away. Gladio's body disappeared and was replaced with a weak and bloodied King Regis. "(Y/n)... Why?" He reached out towards me and his hand went through me. I heard laughing that sounded like mine. I turned around and saw me. Her twin blades were drawn and covered in blood. She was laughing like a maniac. Her eyes were empty of any sanity. "That was easier than I thought," she grinned. I took a step back and tripped over my own feet. She charged at me and I felt one of the blades pierce my heart.

My eyes flew open and I screamed at the top of my lungs. I had a hard time breathing and was gasping for air. ".../n)... (Y/n)!" My eyes adjusted and I felt gloved hands cup my cheeks. My vision cleared and I saw Gladio looking at me with worried eyes. My breathing calmed down and I covered his hands with mine. "You're okay..." I mumble. Tears stung the corner of my eyes as I tried to hold them at bay. He leaned his forehead against mine and stared into my (e/c) eyes. "Nightmare?" He asked. I nodded and he ran a gentle hand through my hair. "Tell me what happened," he said. I looked away and resolved myself. I told him about the nightmare and I could tell he was listening intently. I started to stumble over my words when I came to the part about killing him. He pulled me into a gentle hug and caressed my back. I cried into his chest and couldn't stop. After what felt like hours of crying, I fell asleep in his arms.

When I woke up, I felt warm and strong arms wrapped around me. I opened my groggy eyes and saw Gladio's chest. I started to blush and quickly got up. I made sure not to disturb him and got ready for the day ahead. I was pulling my (h/c) hair into a ponytail when I felt a warm sensation on my cheek. "Good morning, beautiful." Gladio had kissed me on the cheek and I returned with a peck on the nose. We left the tent and saw everybody getting ready. Gladio insisted that I wait by the Regalia until all the stuff was packed and ready to go. He wanted me to relax after what happened to me last night.

I leaned against the Regalia and watched as everyone cleaned up. My happiness was soon replaced with fear. An image from the nightmare appeared before my eyes. Ignis, Gladio, Noctis, and Prompto were all laying face down in their own blood. I couldn't rip my eyes from the scene and started to back away form the Regalia and the campsite. "(Y/n)?" Prompto called my name with worry. "I-I'm a danger to you all," I whisper. "What do you mean, (Y/n)?" Noctis asked. I noticed they all stopped moving and had their worried eyes on me. "Forgive me." I turn and run for my life.
"(Y/n), wait!" Gladio shouts. I ran faster than I ever had.

A cave caught my attention and I decided to stop for a breather. I searched my pocket and noticed I had some Gil on me. "This should be enough to find someplace to stay." I put the Gil back into my pocket and plop on the ground. I leaned against the cave wall and closed my eyes. The nightmare keeps haunting me whether my eyes are opened or closed. "Maybe it's not a nightmare. It could be a vision of things to come." I stood up and looked outside of the cave. Dark clouds consumed the blue sky and soon it started to rain. I turn away from the entrance and began heading further into the cave.

"(Y/n)..." I stopped in my tracks and look over my shoulder. Gladio stood at the entrance, rain soaking his clothes. I couldn't bring myself to say anything to him. I feel terrible for leaving him and the others, but it would be for the best. "Just leave, Gladio," I say. "Not without you," he said, determination laced through his voice. "It's best for me to stay away from you and everyone else." Gladio takes a step towards me. "Does this have to do with the nightmare?" He asked. I nodded and faced him. "Every time I look at the four of you, the vision of death takes over. I can't take it! I would never forgive myself if I killed you!" I shout.

"(Y/n), listen to me," he said softly. "You're not that kind of person. If we thought you were dangerous, we would've left you in Insomnia. It was just a bad nightmare. Don't think too much about it." I looked away and clenched my hands into fists. "No! It felt too real to be just a nightmare! I'll become a monster! I can't take it anymore!" I shout and hold my head between my hands. I crash to my knees and look at Gladio with eyes blurred by tears. Gladio ran to me and enveloped me in his arms. I gripped the back of his jacket and could feel my knuckles hurting. "Don't call yourself a monster. You never were or will be one. You won't fall into darkness as long as I stay by your side. I won't allow it." He rested his chin on top of my head and stroked my hair.

He whispered sweet nothings into my ear and comforted me. Gladio sits down and pulls me into his lap. My head rests on his chest and he clutched my body close to his. I didn't care that he was soaked because of the downpour. The rain finally ceased and Gladio picked me up in his arms. I wrap my arms around his neck so I wouldn't fall. He pecked me on the lips and took me out of the cave. I saw the Regalia and everyone in it. They all jumped out and ran over to us. "We were so worried!" Prompto said. I apologize profusely as Gladio sets me down gently. "We're glad you're back," Noctis smiles. "It would not be the same without you. Having you around is a breath of fresh air," Ignis admits.

"Don't make me cry," I say. They all chuckle and Ignis, Noctis, and Prompto get into the Regalia. I was about to get in until Gladio grabbed my wrist and spun me around. I gasped in surprised and his lips found mine. His other arm wrapped around my waist. "No making out!" We heard Prom shout. We both laugh and finish our sweet moment. Too bad it couldn't have lasted longer.
